[Q] My android phone all of a sudden stopped letting me drag and drop files onto it - General Questions and Answers

I am running a CM11 Nightly on my jfltevzw. I am trying to update to a new nightly by dragging and dropping it onto my phone, the way I always do. However for some reason when I try to do it now, I get an error message saying "Cannot copy item: This device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected." even though it shows up on my explorer. I have no idea what happened. It was working fine like a day ago. I have rebooted my computer and everything, but it just won't work. Help!

Usually CM roms have this kind of MTP bugs when you move big files, try rebooting your phone, if you still got a problem, try using adb, or Usb Mode, or copy files over wifi (Airdroid, or ES file explorer ..)

[Q] Computer not recognizing phone

Phone is rooted, Cognition 4.1.1. I downloaded LCD Density, tried it and it caused TouchWiz to force close repeatedly so I rebooted through recovery and no problems with TouchWiz. When I mount my phone onto the computer, the computer recognizes its there but will not do anything.
At first I couldn't copy files to back up but not I can't open up the folder. Can anyone offer some help?
I've seen a few posts which noted that after re-installing the drivers, and re-setting the phone to usb debugging, it typically fixed this issue.

[SOLVED] [Q] USB Storage Enabler/Hack Error Copying File

I am using the USB Storage Enabler hack to use my device as way to transport files to and from work, but over the past 2 days, every time I try to copy something back to the device, windows gives me an error: "Error Copying File. Cannot copy file xxxxxxxx.xxx. The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected."
The device is responding just fine and has definitely not been disconnected. I can even go in and pull files off of the device, I just can't put files back onto it. It was working for a long time and they just suddenly stopped. I have already tried resintalling drivers, trying various USB ports on my computer, etc.
Does anyone have some ideas about how to get it to work?
Solution Update:
I know nobody responded to this, but I thought I'd put the solution up here in case anyone else runs into this same problem. The reason I was getting the error was because when I was trying to move the file, it was in use. The solution is simply to exit whatever program is using the file, then move the file over. Works like a charm.

[Q] Bricked my tablet? Unable to unbrick, pls help!

Hello, I rooted my tablet for 1 year ago and had been using Revolution HD ever since. This evening I decided to upgrade to something more new and came across goomanager so I downloaded the Cyanmode cm-9.1.0tf101 via the app. I flashed with TWRP (easyflasher) v.2.3.1.1. The issues I am having now are:
1. The loading screen (the guy with spinning circle behind him) keeps appear randomly and constantly and resets everything each time (wifi etc)
2. I cannot access the folders (the file manager is gone). I cannot access to the folders even when the tablet is connected to PC, the folders show emptiness.
3. The TWRP I am using don't allow me to flash anything from external usb. Therefor I dont know how to install another rom or how to fix these problems
EDIT: I have tried to flash the stock version 9.2.1.27 with easyflasher but it failed. The problem is that I cannot enter apx mode. I installed Universal Naked Driver 0.7 but everytime I try to enter apx mode, it resets and says "drivers could not be installed".
EDIT2: I was able to install CWM recovery v.3 with Brk.root.toolkit.v7.1 but can't access sdcard to flash roms, it says "cant mount sdcard, unable to open ums lunfile
Where do I go from here to get anything working?
PLS help

Anh

Remove all Asus drivers installed on your laptop and restart. Now try installing universal naked driver, if your your laptop still says "drivers could not be installed" then unzip the driver and place it in a folder and then go to device manager and look for "unknown devices"... select it and update driver manually by selecting the unzipped folder.
Sent from my Transformer using xda app-developers app
I had the same problem with drivers. The naked universal didn't work, nor any other driver I found on xda.
I uninstalled them and when reinstalling let Windows choose driver from whole c:. After a few minutes a driver was installed.

Trouble copying twrp folder to laptop

Rooted Nexus 5 running stock 4.4.4. Trying to copy the large TWRP folder from nexus 5 to Windows 8.1 laptop using the usb cable that came with the nexus.
Copying starts fine but at the last "15 minutes remaining" to finish point, the copying stalls and Windows puts up a popup saying it couldn't find the object to copy. When I try to go elsewhere in the nexus file structure I discover the connection has been lost and Windows can no longer see the nexus 5 files. So I need to shut down the laptop to safely disconnect the nexus.
This happens repeatedly. Smaller folders copied fine.
Is this because there is something special about twrp nandroid backup files that make them uncopyable, or could this mean there is a corrupt file or something else?
What should I do?

There isn't anything special with TWRP backups. I'm also using Win 8.1 and never got such problems. Try this: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html. Run as admin, delete all usb related drivers, restart laptop and try again. BTW - you don't need to shutdown laptop to safely remove Nexus.
Thank you very much. I have adb installed. Will deleting these drivers mess up my adb installation?
SOLVED
I solved the problem. In case someone else runs into the same problem, here's the solution I discovered.
It did have to do with the size of the folder - indirectly. The problem was the 2 minute screen timeout I have on my nexus. When the display shut off on the phone the copying stalled. I changed the display timeout to 30 minutes and the folder had time to copy successfully. Obviously I don't want the display timeout to remain at 30 minutes and returned it to 2 min.
Note:
I was copying using the laptop. Maybe if I did it using the phone with a file manager like ES Explorer (if that is possible) this timeout wouldn't be a problem. Don't know. But at least I solved the problem for me.

CM13 File manager that includes mounted usb

I frequently copy files from USB to my phone and back again. My usual methods do not work. None of the typical managers are showing the USB at all. Is there a special manager needed?
I personally use Solid Explorer with the OTG add-on as its the only one that works. It did not work on all Roms for me, not too sure why though. Are you running CM13 nightlies?

ES fIle Manger is supporting USB-OTG, just slide the menu from left and you will see your Usb Folder
Total Commander works very well on CM13, as well as the plugins. I've no idea why hardly anyone seems to be using it.
Thanks for the suggestions. I had two that didnt work and the internal file manager didnt have the option of copying TO the usb drive. Seems silly honestly.
Any idea why ES file manager on Android 6 is around 3 times slower than Android 5?
After a few days of usage on Android 6, Total Commander is the only file manager that can properly read a USB mounted, non-adopted drive and copy to it at reasonable speeds. The next closest is ES File manager and its not even a close 2nd .. its about 4 times slower. All the other managers ( I tried 9 of them ) do not recognize the USB drive at all. I suspect they all need updates.
I reboot to twrp and copy the files manually
