anyone know of a app that you can control your phone via pc make phone calls text etc... i am not rooted as of now so i need something that does not require root would be sweet... pain in butt to text back on my dock have to pull the damn thing out !!!
I can almost guaranty that anything able to do what you want will require root. I could be wrong but don't think so.
Unfortunately the only 1 I know of that works is webkey, it requires root but works ok.

Droid VNC Server allows you to do this. I have it on my phone, but I'm fairly sure it requires root, just like many other great applications. Is there something that is preventing you from rooting?
There are many great resources on this site if you need help getting started.
By the way, Droid VNC Server does eat up CPU on the phone, but that shouldn't be much of a problem if you aren't doing anything too intensive and you are plugged in...
The fact that my phone and my pc can't communicate that is why I. Have not rooted

Have you installed the Samsung drivers for USB?

Maybe try that out or use Google Voice. I haven't used either in the way that you are describing but it might be worth looking in to these options.

So I have a tablet with a broken lcd but it has an SD card port and a hdmi port something not many Android devices have, anyway to still use it, whether it be hdmi cable, remote control software, adb or something similar...?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Should be possible, if it has a USB port you could use a mouse with it, or as you say use some remote control software.
Might be difficult to set up if the touch screen part is dead as well though.

Depends... You can if you had an app like AirDroid installed before the screen cracked. You could also install and run it now:

Do you mean monitor as in always see the "systems health", or actually see the devices whole output on a larger screen?

I know how to get it to a larger screen, jus wondering if i could monitor the health i guess from another screen. Also if somebody could link me to a place where i could use my computer to control my phone/tablet. Unfortulently i have a verizon htc one.

Is it possible to use the hdmi out and connect a usb peripheral? I have a bunch of lapdocks laying around and it would be cool to be able to use them with this phone with a couple adapters.
Lack of replies make me think this isnt possible.
Yes. With the right mhl adaptor it is entirely possible.
As far as controlling them with the lapdocks.... No. We dont have the software needed. You should still be able to display to them though.

I think the mouse and keyboard on the lapdock is just usb. So as long as i can get it all wired right I think it should work. Any idea what the right MHL adapter is?
I wouldn't risk it tbh. You would have to splice and dice. If i remember correctly, the laptops are made for a dual connection, ie. HDMI and USB at the same time. I'm not sure that this phone is capable of that, seeing as the USB and mhl have to go into the same place.
I think I remember seeing someone trying this before and it failed.
Just about and HDMI adapter on amazon should work. The one I got years ago cost me maybe $8 with shipping.

Why is that relevant? This thread is in a Verizon HTC One M8 forum . . . And the M8 uses MHL.

sorry thought this was on the g2 q&a my bad
Using a Samsung micro USB - HDMI worked fine for me using the GPE rom. I was able to have my screen display on my TV with no issues. I was hoping to use this to stream FIOS Mobile to a Hotel TV. Unfortunately, when FIOS Mobile sees an HDMI connection, it won't stream
You do need to power this connection. If not, you'll get nothing. This is the cable I used...
So maybe my original post wasnt clear? I know we can get hdmi out of the usb port. What i wanted to know is if there is an adapter that allows you do hdmi out AND connect a usb mouse or keyboard at the same time. On the samsung s4 or s5 or one of them, there was a media dock that allowed this. Not sure if the hardware is here on the m8 to do something similar.
EDIT: This thing: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EDD-S20JWEGSTA
I think samsung uses a proprietary 11pin mhl to do what im talking about. Pretty sure the m8 just has the normal mhl, 5 pin or whatever so this isnt possible. If anyone knows different let me know. I sure wish this phone had a dedicated micro hdmi port.
