I cannot figure this out. I DL a song with tubemate and I converted it to ogg with a converter and put in ringtones folder with es. It shows up in ringtones change in setting bit all I get is a beep when phone rings and it shows name of song as ringtone selected. When I plug in headphones it plays the song. I tried using a computer and moving it from phone to computer and back and that doesn't work either. I'm at a loss. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

How about convert it on a PC and use MP3? All mine work fine so it must be the conversion process. That or buy the music rather than ripping it

Ringtones extended worked until I restart phone. Then I have reset again. Minor thing but annoying. I'll try audacity. Thank you. I haven't rooted this phone. If I did would that solve this issue.?

when you are done. in what way to you disconnect the phone from pc. (ie go to notification bar and select charge and press do?). im just asking for you to explain your process, because im having trouble with this also....
Just reboot, media scan process runs on every boot.
Ok, every music player except double twist randomly changes songs after ten seconds into them. No it's not shuffle or auto change it just does it for some reason. I like double twist but it wont recognize all my CDs on my phone. It has all but 3 on there it wont let me see them or play them. I can go to the folder on my SD card of those CDs and play the songs on double twist but only if I do it manually and it won't go through the CD if I hit next it replays that same song. Help please.

I had been using an ipod to listen to music prior to getting my charge. When i got the charge i coppied music files(mp3) to the data card. Since then i have never been able to get any music player to identify songs correctly with regards to genre.
I've used programs like itag to modify song properties. Also tried modifying properties via windows mass storage. I even tried clearing data from players.
What else can i do?

have you tried Google Play Music or Winamp?
Yup. I've tried both and given up all hope that it'll ever work.

I think a lot of it depends on the info settings for each song. you'll have to edit each song's info. I have read/heard of websites that will clean all of that up for you, but really did not venture too far into that.

You need to make a folder, rename it to Ringtones, then put your files in it. Viola!
My way is a bit awkward but I use power amp music player to set mp3 file as ringtone xD just find the file then click the options next to it then set file as ringtone
Got it... It was on the ringtones folder.. My bad... Thanks for the tip mister...

I'm on a stock phone using the stock music player and it plays all sounds, not just music. Is there a player that will filter file size?

There are media players that don't scan for all audio but there are too many to name. There are others that you can setup to scan only the folders where you put music in. What you're asking for most music players already do in one form or another. In the end you have a choice of 500+ music players out for android.
I just want one that doesn't play my notification and ring tones

You are the second person in two weeks that asked for help for something that can be done yourself by searching the Google play store. Instead you want someone to make the choice for you. This section of the forum is meant for those with problems rooting their phones or with a particular rom and other phone troubles involving the 4.3 ota. This section is also for troubleshooting rooting and flashing issues. Your thread is essentially a suggestion thread(which gets closed) disguised as "help" since you want us to name music players that don't read and play notification and ring tone. You may be mad at this response but please understand that this isn't what this thread section is for. Had you posted about a rooting or flashing related issue more people would be willing to help you.
Not mad, just didn't know where to turn. I've searched the Play Store and didn't find what I needed. Just thought this was an educated forum that could help. Sorry for wasting your time.

Create a playlist containing only the files you want and select it any time you listen to music. That's what I did.

If you know where the sound files are, you can place a .nomedia file in the directory, preventing the music player from scanning that directory.
