Moto G as music player only - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I have the iPod touch 5g (bought it last year) and after getting my note 3, ive come to become a bit annoyed at the iOS ecosystem. Its very nice for some but just isn't for me. Now I barely even touch the iPod, maybe once every two days just to see some notifications.
Can anyone tell me if they think the Moto G would be a good replacement to the Ipod touch? I intend to use it solely as a music player as media viewing is definitely much nicer on the note 3's bigger screen.
If I do end up getting the moto G as a music player, I would just sell my iPod to make up for the price. Pretty much just a swap.
Many thanks in advanced guys.

To give you a short answer. It is possible to do that. There are a few good music player and video player. However 8 GB or 16 GB is not large enough. You lose a lot of storage on the other PHONE programs. Moto G does not have the great sound as iPod or any other mp3 player has. If you are not searching for the perfect high quality sound Moto G can handle it. But if you want perfect high quality sound Moto G is not for you.
For my personal opinion. No don't do it. Moto G was designed to be a phone. And a mp3 player.

Newbie from iOS and iPhone here. I recently bought my first android - now use the Moto G at the gym and find it sounds as good as my iPhone.
And I uploaded my entire 25+gb of songs from iTune to google cloud via their music manager app and then connect via wifi to listen to any and all of my music library. Since it's up in the cloud, storage isn't a problem.

Yeah that exactly what I was planning to use it for. Because the Note 3 is a bit too big when at the gym and sometimes falls out of my pocket during my sets which kind of kills the vibe. So I was looking for a nice phone that I can use for music.

Thanks for the response. And yeah I didn't actually think of that. Hmm well I really don't really use my Ipod at all so decided to put it up on ebay last night. What phone do you think would be good for it then? I was kind of leaning towards buying an HTC One or a Moto X off ebay second hand. Some of them say that the phone has a bad ESN but I live in Australia. Do you think that would affect me?

[Q] Possible way to mirror phone screen over DLNA?

I know it's a huge disappointment that HTC didn't put in a HDMI port, something that didn't bother me until recently.
I know for a fact that DLNA works great for streaming videos and photos taken on my phone to my TV, even on CM7.
I also just recently saw those youtube videos of guys using their Evo 4gs as their desktop, and wondered if there was a way for this to be accomplished on our phones. I was mainly thinking there was some way to work some magic over DLNA, and then bluetooth speakers, mouse and keyboard for the rest.
Anyone know if this is possible at all or even semi possible?
(I tried to search before posting but the search was down)
I'm also looking for an answer to this
I would like to see some idea on this too. I guess we're in the minority.
I agree as well, this is something I would be interested in. I remember when I bought my previous phone (nokia 5800 XM). I was quite excited about it's video out function, only to find it's composite analog video out to be wanting.
When I was trying to decide between inspire and the Atrix, a big deciding point for me was the untested nature of the dual core, and so far I like the results of my choice, the 2nd gen snapdragon has plenty of ooomph to play my highly compressed x264 mkvs and the battery is somewhat reasonable, however the screen mirroring is something I would really be interested in, surely with the gpu/cpu combo in place some kind of solution could be put into place, it doesn't take that much bandwidth to push a 2d desktop worth of images, especially with modern network speeds.
Here's hoping!
I am really hoping for a way to do this too. That new crackle app would be a lot nicer if I could watch it on my tv.

I'm also looking for a way to mirror the screen of my sony tablet S to the TV set - via dlna?
would be cool to hear from someone with dlna related developement experience.
They say it's not even possible to make a screenshot on android without root permissions. (no, please dont start a discussion about screenshots now, explaining how wrong I am
Dude, I think you've got the wrong section, this is the INSPIRE 4G SECTION.
hope someone posts a tutorial
no matter what section. the problem is the same on all dlna capable devices.

[Q] android connectivity with iPad? (use android as remote?)

I have the HTC G2 (Desire Z) on t-mobile. I just purchased a 32GB iPad 2 last week and am waiting for it to arrive soon. I want to use it's video out features a lot with my TV and I also have an apple bluetooth keyboard for typing and stuff.
My main question is are there any apps that allow an android phone to be used as a remote or mouse for the iPad??
Just any apps that allow android and iOS to play nice together would be great to know about. (and I'm not really asking about games, more so productivity apps or remote control type apps) Thanks!
p.s. Please no fanboy/troll comments please. I seriously am just trying to get the most out of what I have purchased. I love android and I love the iPad 2, and I would love some input on making them play nice together as I can't find anything online besides tablet comparisons
Just found this:

I'm thinking using it to browse your phone on the ipad? Could work? Havnt tried it as I haven't received my ipad yet. But I think its worth a look.

I would love to have media controls for my iPad on my Moto X, so I could control my Youtube app. It's that possible?

Music production

Hi all,
Anyone know of any decent music production apps? I've got Uloops but compared to Tabletop for the iPad its pretty dull.
Hope there is something a bit more feature packed avaiable on coming soon.
Cheers
I picked up SPC when it was free a few weeks ago on the Amazon Appstore. Check out the video on the market page, it's a lot of fun.
I don't know of anything in Android comparable to GarageBand on the iPad but if you do find something along those lines (or anything else of interest for that matter), be sure to post it back here!
Caustic is pretty good

Nice, cheers for both of them, will give them ago.
There's a decent app called Plasma Sound HD which is kind of like a synth pad. Worth looking at if you havent already, hopefully it will work in conjunction with some of these apps
Try Reactable.
I can't figure out how to use it but I only gave it a try for 2 minutes. It's $10 but should work similarly to this:

Cool to read this, gonna look in to them. Whas looking for it myself as well.

I'll give it a go to on my ASUS Eee Pad Transformer and maybe make a video on how it works for me.
i play with caustic a lot, it's a decent drum machine/sampler

Chordbot lets you play around with chord sequences and provides various musical styles to dress up the chord progressions. I found it helpful for musical compositions and trying out different melodies to go with the chords.
What I like in chordbot and similar apps is... there is only the name of the chord and no information what notes it contains. I never got to learning all the chords names I just use them by intuition (I'm self learned, you can hear my music on Jamendo - search for Tomasz Kucza - and in my games). On Android I tested only Caustic - it's quite fine for fun.
So, what was the ultimate verdict?
Pros and/or Cons....?
Some of these apps are a bit pricey, and I was curious to see how they worked out.
Also, what are you creating? (Genre)
Thanks in advanced.

After trying a few apps I'd say it's a waste of money - these apps are nowhere close to DAWs like Ableton/FL/Logic etc. Maybe FL Mobile will be something good, but if you really need to produce music get a laptop.
I agree they are all a waste of money for producing but they are ok for just for fun.
Might plug my pad into my studio and get caustic used as a synth cubase as theres a sound on it i want to use in a track.
Apart from that they are all a bit of fun

Motorola Atrix II faulty Speaker

Hi i just got a Motorola Atrix II..
and i played a song with high bass (juz to check the voice quality)
But the problem now is..the output is very much terrible...(like the speakers are torn from inside)
Is there any way to rectify it..?
Did you buy it new? If so, that's a hardware problem and no amount of software will correct a blown speaker.
Go warranty it. And good luck!

Not sure why this was posted in Themes in apps but moved to general.

Have you installed any apps to 'boost bass' or volume? If so, delete them and try without them running. Also, which music player are you using, and have you checked the sound settings in your player?
You're not going to get "Bose Quality" sound from your external speaker, but it should be fairly decent (for a phone). But, it may be that it IS hardware related, in which case you need to try Moto service -unless you're within 30 days of purchase from a reputable retailer, in which case they should exchange your device.

[Q] Verizon alternative replacement

Hello all, I was hoping for some help in deciding on an alternative replacement from Verizon Wireless.
I am on my 4th LG Revolution and it's time for an alternative replacement, and these are my choices.
LG Lucid 2 http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=4077
LG Specturm 2 http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=3726
Motorol RAZR HD http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=3855
Short Version - Does anyone have experience they would like to share with these phones in the following categories? As it goes, I am leaning towards the RZAR, since I feel that it is a major player.
Call quality.
battery time.
Rooting/Rom-ing?
Media Control headsets
feeling of available support from others on these devices.
Long version.
My needs are podcast consumption, and I read a lot of forums so I have Tapatalk and Forum Runner installed a few times. I use Waze a lot when when I am in the car, and I snap a lot of pictures for writing howto's. Even with a few basic apps installed, the Revolution buckles and lags between app switching and home screens.
I Need my phone rooted for testing corporate VPN, connections. I am a fan of freezing, big-red's bloatware to speed up the phone. I work in IT so know that I have a tenancy to push a device to it's limits.
I did some research and processors in all of them are dual core. The Lucid is 1.2 GHz, while the razr and Spectrum a 1.5 GHz. My thoughts on that are that it will only matter in a year or so, if Ubuntu or FireFox phone OS is still available to play with. I would like to run Cyanogen mod again. (last ran on my OG Droid).
My thoughts are that the Lucid 2 and the Spectrum 2 are mid level phones, so I feel that the LG devices will have much less of a userbase here and on other boards. I am not a fan of the non-removal battery in the RAZR. My wife received that model for her Alternative replacement, she went through three of those before one would finally activate correctly.
I run my podcasts through beyondpod and I love it. I would like to find a phone that would respond to FF/RR controls on a multi button headset. I have had little luck finding info models that have been found to support FF/RW on a headset like the Nexus.
Go with the RAZR HD. Its by far the best on the list. Activation issues are a Verizon problem and/or SIM related so the HD probably wasn't the culprit. The only quality LG phone is the G2 so steer clear.
