Music production - Eee Pad Transformer Themes and Apps

Hi all,
Anyone know of any decent music production apps? I've got Uloops but compared to Tabletop for the iPad its pretty dull.
Hope there is something a bit more feature packed avaiable on coming soon.
Cheers

I picked up SPC when it was free a few weeks ago on the Amazon Appstore. Check out the video on the market page, it's a lot of fun.
I don't know of anything in Android comparable to GarageBand on the iPad but if you do find something along those lines (or anything else of interest for that matter), be sure to post it back here!

Caustic is pretty good
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.singlecellsoftware.caustic

Nice, cheers for both of them, will give them ago.
There's a decent app called Plasma Sound HD which is kind of like a synth pad. Worth looking at if you havent already, hopefully it will work in conjunction with some of these apps

Try Reactable.
I can't figure out how to use it but I only gave it a try for 2 minutes. It's $10 but should work similarly to this:

Cool to read this, gonna look in to them. Whas looking for it myself as well.

I'll give it a go to on my ASUS Eee Pad Transformer and maybe make a video on how it works for me.

i play with caustic a lot, it's a decent drum machine/sampler

Chordbot lets you play around with chord sequences and provides various musical styles to dress up the chord progressions. I found it helpful for musical compositions and trying out different melodies to go with the chords.

What I like in chordbot and similar apps is... there is only the name of the chord and no information what notes it contains. I never got to learning all the chords names I just use them by intuition (I'm self learned, you can hear my music on Jamendo - search for Tomasz Kucza - and in my games). On Android I tested only Caustic - it's quite fine for fun.

So, what was the ultimate verdict?
Pros and/or Cons....?
Some of these apps are a bit pricey, and I was curious to see how they worked out.
Also, what are you creating? (Genre)
Thanks in advanced.

After trying a few apps I'd say it's a waste of money - these apps are nowhere close to DAWs like Ableton/FL/Logic etc. Maybe FL Mobile will be something good, but if you really need to produce music get a laptop.

I agree they are all a waste of money for producing but they are ok for just for fun.
Might plug my pad into my studio and get caustic used as a synth cubase as theres a sound on it i want to use in a track.
Apart from that they are all a bit of fun

Ipad can do it, why not the transformer?

Ok the other day my friends came over with his ipad and his iphone and showed me how he could play mario 64 on his ipad and use his iphone as a controller. Now why can't we do that with an android tablet ( tf ) and a android phone (g2x)? If so anyone know how?
No need fpr such set up we can use a ps3 controller or xb controller . Way better qith phisical buttons than touch screen
Yeah but I don't wana carry around a ps3 or wii controller. I always have my phone. Its more convenient.

Feel free to go and develop software to do this - I don't think anyone is stopping you.
it was a good point and not a super complaint.. don't listen to the haters, but good luck finding a dev for it!
It shouldn't actually be too tough to do. I could see someone building an "EventAgent" app, that lets you draw buttons on the screen to use any layout you want (even superimpose it over an image of a controller, like some desktop apps). Combine that with orientation-sensor support, and then just figure out how to beam the controls to the tablet.
have you tried an app called blueputdroid I believe, Ill link in just a mo
https://market.android.com/details?id=berserker.android.apps.blueputdroid&feature=search_result
It requires root, but the ipadrequires root/jailbreak to even play emulators from what Ive heard, Ive tried it myself using fpse and a couple of the yongzh emulators and it works great, although no multitouch yet.
I would be interested in this as well.

These arguments fall upon the deaf ears of fanboys. It goes both ways. There are plenty of Android die-hards (myself included) who don't want to hear any arguments against the ecosystem they love.
The only rational arguments come from a usability or ideological standpoint. Here are two examples:
Ideological - I don't believe a manufacturer should have any control over what software I put on or what I do with my device. My device is a tool, which should conform to my needs, not the other way around.
Usability - I only use this device for these three tasks, and since the alternative does not have support/apps for these particular tasks I prefer them to the competition.
If you are rationally choosing your ecosystem, the only logical arguments fall under these two categories. Otherwise you're simply buying into a brand, and thus you can't make any logical arguments.

Yeah if you wanna measure penises, using a PS3 controller or Xbox 360 controller is much more impressive.
If your gonna use a touch screen, why not the built in one on the tablet? I use the on screen controls for flights and stuff. Guy next to me had a DSi playing Mario which died mid flight. I was grinding my party in FF7 for 3 hours. He was impressed.
What about HDMI out running FPse PSx and a PS3 gamepad... that impresses my peeps.

[Q] Can i really use TF for same functions as a notebook???

Im undecided if i should buy the TF or the iPAD2.
I enjoy android hence my Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 2.3
I have been reading reviews on both tablets but im still undecided but i would like to have the TF as i prefer android but i want to know if its better than iPAD2.
i need the tablet to browse the net wifi, read books and documents, type documents on it, watch movies on a plane, enjoy good prudctivity and game apps too without too much glitches.
Please advice as im purchasing either one next week.

thanx mate...i was specifically looking for reasons why i should buy the TF either than the ipad2.
do u still have urz? enjoying it still? i read a review that some android apps are not made for tablets.
I use both my laptop and TF all the time, both have their own purpose and neither of them and fully replace the other in my opinion. At least not yet.
If I was in your situation I would have wait until the transformer prime released (TF2) on November. but if you can't wait buy the tf1, you won't regrat it.
I would say that it might be closer to replacing a NETbook, but not a notebook.
You can of course do basic things like email, youtube, watch video, and web browsing (although I haven't found this to be as good an experience as I had hoped). But I wouldn't rely on it to do seriously productive things yet (like typing documents etc). Its not impossible... its just not quite there yet IMO.
Definitely get the ipad 2.

I use my Transformer for this no problems.
Android has few if any "Serious" editors and even less useful tools for creating rich content that isn't HTML; Polaris Office is the most useful I've seen. Being ARM and Linux based however, I am able to run vim and other serious editors like GNU emacs on my transformer. I can even access more serious type setting tools for creating rich and or structured content.
Now if you live and die by MS Excel & PowerPoop, that might be a big problem.
Just for native-ness, I've thought of creating a vim/emacs style Android app and trying to stitch it to a Lua interp over RPC (to be used ala elisp), but have yet to have that big a need of yanking text from my terminal to other apps, versus just using e.g. Dropboxes editor for that.
If you have a pc and an always on internet connection, if you are savy enough, you can set up a remote desktop server on your pc by using VNC or Splashtop Remote Streamer. This may be alot to set up initially, but once its set up, its a great solution to this issue, so you won't have to carry around both your PC and your tab. Splashtop is a great program that makes it appear that your native PC OS is native to your tab. The downside to splashtop is that it does not encrypt your remote desktop sessions.
I don't know what you are looing to hear? The number of which one is better? This is totally subjective.
Go and try both of them out and then choose one.

Everybody's got an ipad 2. So, obviously, it's better than the TF. Also, I'd like to see less whining in the TF forums. Apple's already got an army of whiners. One more wouldn't hurt them.

This is not true. I've made several ppp on my TF. I've also written a bunch of stuff with it. And I live and die by excel spreadsheet.
If you're looking for something free, of course polaris is inadequate.
I have bought quickoffice, freethink (or thinkfree, I always forget), officesuite pro, and doc2go. Between these, I can do everything I need to.

Doesn't matter what that comparison chart says. The ipad 2 is the king of the hill right now. Have you any idea how many times I've heard people on the train say "asus transformer? What is that?" Yet, everybody knows what the ipad is.
What's more, everytime I show people my TF, people always say "oh, it's an ipad..."
I still say if you have to ask which one to get, it's best that you get the ipad 2. If there's any disappointment after getting it, let apple and the iOS community deal with the inevitable whining session. And based on my experience with tablet users, there will undoubtedly be disappointments. Most people will start out trying to use the tablet like a laptop anyway.
I absolutely love my TF still, and I'm a big fan of Android. I dont know. The TF will do anything that the ipad can do and more, with the ability to customize and change whatever you want.
Being able to set up your TF like this is a great way to show why honeycomb is amazing. There's no way to even come close to setting up your ipad like this:
HUBS!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrzQPkbkYOw
I need to upload a video of my hubs.... it's a GREAT way to use your tab
Ipad 2 or TF? If you plan to type more, use the editing options for word, excel etc, watch movies then go for the transformer. The extra laptop dock should be very helpful too. But if you are more inclined to play games, then go buy the ipad2,. Or.... Just wait for the prime. The Kal EL processor is a beast.
My girlfriend ditched her netbook for the TF months ago and hasnt had only one complaint. Her netbook had a VGA out and the TF only has HDMI. 99% of projectors dont support HDMI yet so she has to break out the old Dell to do that.
But otherwise you can open/edit office docs, PDFs, all websites, etc. She loves it. Even used it to take pictures of, edit and display cells and such she is working on.

[Android] Droid Anime 2 - Watch Anime

We have updated Droid Anime. Droid Anime is an application that streams anime videos to your android phone.
You can download the latest version here
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.droid.animev2
If you want more anime like Naruto, Bleach, please consider buying our Pro version from our website
http://droidanime.com/Pro
We are currently testing the app before re-releasing it in the market. Would love to have your feedback.
The videos do not work on Low Res devices
Decent app and decent video quality.
It would be nice if you put up currently airing shows and just generally more shows, because 18-19 shows - which I've already seen most of - just doesn't cut it.
Nexus S i9023
Thanks. Can I have your android device model?
We just started adding yesterday. We'll be adding all over this month and the next. If it's not too much trouble, can you tell me a list of Anime we should add?
We're adding Naruto and Bleach now. Taking too long due to the large number of episodes that we have to upload and make compatible with the app.
Ive been searching an app like this for weeks. I'll try it later.
Suggestions:
How about offline watching?
Sent from my E15i using XDA App
You mean downloading Anime from the app and watch it later? We were planning to add that feature. But, since it'd put a heavy load on our servers once everyone starts downloading, we thought we'd leave that feature for the next version by which time hopefully we'll have more servers.
IF you meant watching anime from the app when there is no internet connection, that won't be possible since the app size would exceed Gigabytes. No one would download it.
Would be cool if you post here if the app works on your device.
Thanks
I have no comment

Let me ask one obvious question before even trying this: are they dubs or subs?

Thanks for testing it out guys.
@Orbiting234, Negrobembon
We're mostly concentrating on Subs. Except for maybe DBZ/GT and Pokemon since these two Anime were enjoyed by everyone in English Dub.
@Wolfteam20
Once we finish adding anime, we'll release the app in other languages.
@Zephiel
Thanks for finding that. We found that there is no HSOD episode 13 and we linked it by mistake.
@MasterFace
We'll be adding anime series with titles from now on. Yes, we did notice that the tap highlight is not quite right in the Anime index, but we're not able to find out why.
Thanks
Works great here. Only bummer is the small GUI.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Thanks for this. Working great on my droid charge.
Suggestion: More shows, obviously. Maybe a poster of the show, and then the episode list. I think that would look awesome, and would make the app distinctive from other streaming apps. Maybe take the approach that EZ Stream TV took, that app is awesome.
Looks nice so far
Even though I've already seen them, I recommend you to add Nichijou and Cromartie Highschool. Both because they are fun and is still enjoyable on a small screen.
And maybe a design upgrade - especially the icon - would be in it's place.
If I have more, I'll just use your site.
Works on Samsung Fascinate 2.3.5.
As many times I have seen it, Evangelion should be added.
where is the link for download ?
thanks

Tintin, Video Editing, Powerpoint?

I've been reading a lot about the Note 10.1. Frankly, tablets are a luxury for me as I already have a decent desktop at home, and don't really like carrying more stuff than I absolutely need, when commuting 2 hours back and forth every day. And I already have the Note 5.3, which frankly is a little over rated for its s-pen integration.
But now I want the tablet, thanks to all the marvelous reviews and comments I've seen! One burning question which I have is games. I'm not a heavy gamer but there's one game which I really liked on the S2, which doesn't work on the Note: Adventures of Tintin. Can someone confirm whether this game can be installed and played in the gorgeous mode? Rather than the laughably ugly 2D mode?
Another question: how good is video editing on this tablet? I'm asking this in behalf of someone who's considering getting an ipad with imovie (spelling?).
Lastly, is it easy to create or edit powerpoint slides with the Note? Its fiddly on my phone, but I imagine it to be much better on a larger device.
TIA!
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-devers app
I downloaded it to my Note 5.3, backed it up and side loaded it to the Note and it comes up saying, device is not compatible with this game. Please request a refund. So it would seem it doesn't work on the Note 10.1

Of course you can create or edit powerpoint as you like and its better on device have a big screen like Note 10.0 , and it come with Polaris Office preinstalled app , more easy

Thanks for the replies. I'm kind of sad about Tintin not working on the 10.1. May I know of it runs in the"gorgeous" mode on your 5.3?
Yeah, you're right about editing ppts, it should be a lot easier on a larger screen.
Now I'm just waiting for thoughts about video editing.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Wow, that Tintin game downloaded over 830MB of data into the phone to even play.
anyway, I honestly can't tell if it is in gorgeous mode. I don''t see any mode setting anywhere. It looks like it is. lol

[Q] Noob needs help! Asus infinity compatible with ps3 console?

Ive looked everywhere on here and couldn't find the answer so i pose this question to all of you amazing people.
I want to buy the Asus infinity and was wondering if its compatible with the ps3 console? I.E using the Tablet as a mini t.v when on the go.
Would it be as simple as connecting the Micro HDMI/HDMI OUT from the Tablet to the ps3 or is it even possible at all? Is there an App or Apps i will need? I am aware that you can pair the ps3 controller to the tablet, so it's just about the console itself.
I was going to buy the Sony Experia Tablet but as of now they are having major issues with the WiFi and im not sure if it will be fixable Via software update...anyways. Long time reader. Thakyou all for the great feedback you provide!
I don't think it'possible. The microHDMI port on the Infinity is only for output, not input.
If you have the two devices and the cable, feel free to try it out anyways.

This would make total sense then if true.
Founds the BF3 one.
This is definitely remote play. I wasn't aware BF3 was a remote play game, since a lot of games aren't.
From some quick research, there's some work to get it working; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14542310&postcount=7.
Beyond that, the TF700T has no video input. So you would need something else such as an app to get the PS3 to play. I think hotels lock down the TV to prevent people from bring about to use their devices. I still read the method used can be laggy. If you're really serious, I suggest emailing the guy who uploaded the video to find out how and what you need.

you could try using Google Translate. It's not perfect by any means. Just keep what you're very simple; think of KISS: keep it simple stupid. No one's figured out how to write a translator for subtlenes of languages.
I assuming he can read Spanish since from what I can tell, Battlefield was using Spanish writing. It could have been so other dilect, but it may be a starting point.
Another place to look, try the PS3 forums about remote on the PS3. There has got to someone who has an idea or where to go to find out.
