1. Make sure you have the stock (original) recovery flashed on your device
2. Copy the OTA update.zip package to your device
3. Hold your volume down and power keys until the bootloader starts up
Using the volume keys, navigate down to RECOVERY and press power
You are now in stock recovery mode. Wait a few seconds until the Android with the red exclamation mark above it apears.
4. press vol up + vol down + power to enter the main recovery menu.
5. Navigate down to "apply from phoene storage" text and press power to confirm
6. Navigate to the location where you copied the OTA update.zip package and press power to confirm

Install TeamWin Recovery:

put the backup on your phones internal storage and restore it via recovery.
- now you have stock 4.2.2
flash stock recovery (just like you flashed the TWRP)
download the OTA and install it!
- you should have 4.3 with sense 5.5
good luck
I have an S-On and Root. Still in 4.1.1 in X920D. I want to get access to OTA for updates again. Can use a stock backup of Bassie39 for 4.2.2 and then I receive OTA updates? If not, how get stock again and receive OTA? Need make S-OFF for this things?
My backup s are from European x920e doesn't work on x920d. Many people forget to backup system, normally you start with backup of system then try to use custom roms and kernels

I did not bought this new HTC. I bought it used. And was not I who made the Root. I do not like root, not need it. I just wanted to go back to all original. And get updates via OTA again. I'm on android 4.1.1. I can not find the RUU for X920D version. I found one that is Asia, but mine is Europe. I do not know if I can use. Not even know where to start, this world Root, S-ON, S-off HBOOT, is all new to me.
Thanks for the reply.
One more thing. I'm currently using a version Bassie39 "CWM Backup 4.1.1 European x920e
Backup 4.1.1 "
I try to use "
TWRP Backup 4.2.2 European x920e
Backup 4.2.2" but receive an error of MD5.
Why will not update via OTA? Or is it because you are superuser and ROOT? As I leave without Root?
A fix. I discovered that my HTC X920E is the model, although the box is written that he is x920d. In the back of the unit says it is the PL99300 model, and researching I found out that it means it is a X920E.
Could anyone help me to return it to Stock ROM and get OTA updates again, or how to put a newer Stock ROM that has sense 5?

Hello ,
I have read many posts , some saying you can get the update if you are rooted/s-off and some say you cant .
I have sensationXE 2.3.4 1.73.707.4 10.58.9035. kernel : 2.6.35.13
I have Done S-off and root , but I did not flash the devise or install any rom still on stock
.
Will It be able to run the ota update when it pops in software update ?
What will have to do to install the update by the OTA file ( any special steps for this case ) ?
I have searched in the forum for this exact situation , I did not find . Please clarify this for me and for others with similar cases
Thank you

u need stock recovery to install ota
If u r still stock 100% but rather s-off, u should be fine. Whenever u receive the update just take the update like it says too, no special instructions. When people say u lose root that means, no superuser, busybox, and so on. U should still keep s-off
You won't get it yet as the initial release is for EU unbranded handsets. Other regions will roll out soon I'd imagine, followed by branded handsets

or download the stock file and install it from sd card
any guide on how to go back to stock recovery?
Ok you said you were stock and all you have done is S-off your Sensation XE and root it. If this is all you have done you still have the stock recovery and you can just download the OTA update file and place it on the root of your SD card. Then boot your Sensation into the boot loader by either taking your battery out or go into settings/power and uncheck the box for fastboot. You have to do either one of these to make sure your device is completely powered down. Next you need to power on your Sensation while holding the volume down button dow. Then use the volume rocker to scroll to recovery and press the power button. Then just follow the on screen instructions to flash the OTA file.if the file does not appear you either do not have the file on the root of your SD card or the file is not properly named. Post back here with your results.
thank you for this info dear sir.
Do u think i should do it this way or
wait for my update notification to pop ( will i be able to install it if am rooted) ?

You are welcome, as far as if you should wait or not that is totally up to you. The only draw back to not waiting really is that you will not have certain apps that your carrier includes in the ROM for their Sensation. Like for example if I flashed it now and did not wait for the OTA update message to pop up on my phone I will not have any of the T-Mobile apps on my Sensation, the only one I care about anyway is the WiFi hotspot app. But I think you see what I am talking about. Plus if you do not wait you will have to S-off your Sensation and write Super CID to your Sensation to flash the available ICS and Sense 3.6 OTA update file. The drawback to waiting is just waiting lol. Well that and the fact that if there is ever another OTA update for your Sensation you will have to flash the correct stock ICS update for your Sensation to get it via OTA and not by downloading it, placing it on the root of your SD card, and then booting into the stock recovery to flash of.

Sorry I just now saw that you had edited your post. If it says CLOCKWORKMOD Recovery v5.0.0.8 then you do not have the stock recovery you have Clockworkmod Recovery wich is a custom recovery. So you will have to flash the stock recovery back to your Sensation before you can flash the ICS and Sense 3.6 OTA update, if it was not so late I would see if I could not put together a Clockworkmod and other custom recovery flashable .zip file so everyone would not have to revert back to stock recovery to flash the OTA update. Anyway to revert back to stock recovery you will need to flash a stock ROM back to your Sensation. And seeing as you are Super CID you can flash any stock ROM you want. Just go to here to download a official stock ROM. All the ROMs in the link are RUU.exe files so you will have to connect your Sensation to your computer via your USB cord and then run the RUU.exe. Once you have flashed the stock ROM you just need to follow my directions from my other post and you should be good to go.

For those stuck at recovery/ haven't received the elusive OTA update / require a STOCK ROM for any valid reason, this is a PURE STOCK ODEX EUR 2.32.401.5 FIRMWARE BACKUP (ROOTED). The backup includes BOOT,SYSTEM, DATA partitons and RECOVERY.
Received OTA update to 2.31 after changing CID to HTC_Y13, restoring stock recovery, bootloader LOCK and flashing 2.2 RUU. DONOT CHANGE THE BACKUP NAME! backup dated new as it was wiped/cleaned version of my earlier 2.31 backup. Until HTC Dev releases the RUU for 2.31 update suffice with this!
This backup WON'T UPDATE your RADIO baseband or HBOOT! (chrikenn)

Thanks dude. One thing to note is that I'm pretty sure a nandroid does not restore radio or recovery. So even though it updated those things for you when you were completely stock and ran the actual OTA, I believe that anybody who flashes this nandroid will keep whatever radio and recovery they have when they flash it. If they are on hboot lower than 1.13, they can separately flash the 1.06es radio in TWRP.
should the bootloader be locked? or can i just restore this with un-locked bootloader hboot 1.13 and root?

download zenRom
this is a close to stock as possible Rom (its based on the android 4.0.4 with sense 4.1)
so here we go:
1. install the zenRom the usual way (wipe everything twice except the sd card before flashing, dont forget flashing the boot.img)
2. let the zenRom boot fully
3. shut your phone off
4. flash the stock recovery via fastboot [you can get it here, its the second (!) link] you need the stock recovery to install the official OTA
5. boot your phone and let your device search for updates
6. you will get the JB OTA [if not, make a factory reset and try again]

If it suits your needs, pm me and I'll send you a link to my Google Drive. There you'll find at least two nandroid backups, stock 2.31 EU and stock 3.16 EU. 2.31 will update to 3.16, if you want your bootloader version being changed to 2.15. With restoring 3.16 you'll keep your current bootloader.
For the OTA Update you need a valid CID as NQNH correctly mentioned!

Guide: How To Manually Flash OTA File
Suggest: Disable Fastboot on Smartphone from "Settings" ==> "Power"
Download the OTA update ZIP File.
Copy OTA ZIP File on Smartphone. (Internal Storage or SD Card).
Boot to Recovery, from the PC command line (adb reboot bootloader) OR with button combinations on the phone. (Power + Vol. Down)
In Bootloader Select Recovery.
Wait until you see the picture.
Simultaneously Press the "Power" Button and "Volume Up", Until you see the Stock Recovery "Android System Recovery <3e>".
Select "apply from phone storage" OR "apply from sd card".
Select the zip file that you copied from the PC.
Do the Install, should take 10 minutes.
Tell it to Reboot.
If it brings you back to that dark screen with the battery icon, reboot again (Press Power + Vol. Up).
It will then reboot regularly, and say "Android is upgrading... optimizing app xxx of yyy."

Nope.
So why do you think this will work for you?
If it would be so easy, every k2ul user could use this
Il try to manually install the update with no success.
The phone is k2_ul (LTE) cid 001 no brand. But no update notification.
I have never root or flash something.
At the end of the procedure I can't launch recovery because a red triangle with exclamation mark appares.
Do I have to rename the ota zip file?

You have to make sure that the android-info.txt file is listing your cid and mid. If not it needs to be included or else your device will not recognize the ota or simply put, abort.
Edit: wanted to include that you should look in the firmware.zip within the ota. If you are supercid you will be fine, but you still have to set up the mid.

I have a question. Is the boost version fully functional? I don't want to do this and then my device craps out...

The boost version is not an official version. It will indeed work very well, but given the two bugs that are listed in the OP of that thread, it can become annoying. Bluetooth works, messaging works, internet with WiFi works, everything works, except the two bugs. Myself and @russellvone spoke about the two bugs just recently and have decided to wait until the official OTA for boost comes out. When it does we are going to take some stuff from it and apply it to the port Rom I have shared on here. We expect it to not only fix the two known bugs but provide a 4.2.2 Rom without ANY bloatware that boost tries to slam us with.

If you dont have a backup of your device then don't flash anything - that would just be suicidal regardless.

Hi at all,
Little Update Thread in OP, list all OTA released today.
Hi at all,
Another little update in OP: I added a useful guide how to flash OTA file.
I have tested this method on HTC SV of my girlfriend, and work fine.

Hi,
Press both Power Button and Volume Up for some second, and then you can see the stock recovery.
example in attachement.
Step 7. doesn't work for me also. I see the picture and no matter if I press some buttons or not, it restarts by itself.

When I click on Restore from TWRP I don't have anything to select from. The files are copied to the internal storage, did a factory wipe.. nothing. Please help
Using TWRP 2.7.1.1
Edit:
I made a backup with TWRP and saw it made it in another folder.. moved your nandroid backup to that folder and it's shown Thanks!
Edit 2:
It showed as failed and couldn't boot. I'm restoring my old backup now to see what's wrong.. It might've not copied correctly.. I don't know ;/ Will continue to update this post
Edit 3:
I saw it hasn't copied itself correctly 'cause I did move them through the phone's file manager
Edit 4:
After successfully restoring, I can't access fastboot to flash boot and recovery.. I saw that TWRP automatically flashes boot from the restore, so I don't think that's needed. But for the recovery, I'll try later.. right now I've booted up the phone and it started without a problem. Didn't ask for any setup though.. I'll try adb reboot bootloader now and flash boot and recovery, then lock it again.. if it works, I might just format everything and do a clean install
--
The fastboot still won't work, the PC doesn't recognize it at all... ;/ It just shows 'USB Device not recognized' popup and that's all -_-

It wasn't working because of a faulty HBOOT.. I got it fixed but I didn't know it was faulty.. Flashed firmware, flashed stock recovery, added that faulty HBOOT again because it removes red text and makes *RELOCKED* show as *LOCKED* and other tiny stuff.. Now I'm with locked bootloader, stock recovery, faulty HBOOT and no way out of this situation

Thanks for the back up!
I restored this backup and flashed the boot, recovery and relocked the bootloader..but when i boot into the rom it says no updates available?
I want to stock my phone up as i want to sell it on to retailer.
Please advise on what to do.
Check out the third post in this thread, it contains everything you need: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2851886
Seeking assistance to return to stock ROM
I followed it and went from a EE-branded running Android 4.3, to a fully stock, unrooted Android 4.4.2 and Sense 6 and on HTC's own release channel. Best thing is you can leave as Super CID and S-off and when you come to sell it, change both with a couple of basic fastboot commands. Or easily re-root it again and use a custom rom, should you feel inclined.
