move apps/data from internal memory to external memory [only for android 4.1.2] - Galaxy Tab 3 General

This script worked on SM-T210/R but this script depends on the device directories, so you can modify it to work on your galaxy tabs
For mounting obb and data folders, click here
To move the apps themselves, click here
Feel free to ask and report back
Enjoy
p.s move apps may not work, never really tested it out

I think you can do it from rootexplorer directly by linking the new created folders in extsdcard to the folders in Sdcard.I havn't tried both of these tricks because I haven't rooted my new phone yet,but I tried rootexplorer method on my old rooted Gingerbread phone and it works fine dunno about Jellybean coz Im new to it ^^

What I do is:use 7zip and put all my apps in /system/app folder, that way if I factory reset the phone all my apps get installed plus they also open up and perform faster in /system/app folder.I used minimist version of Syndicate rom,i have about 20-30 apps,20 live wallpapers, custom ringtones nd themes,3 launchers and with all that my rom is only 124mb!

do u put all the apps from a rom and do it that way then replace it on a new rom?
& yea i can't believe how people are acting in theese forums.when did it become the devs job to make something for them then they just complain pretty sad 8^/
1 install any rom
2 install all the apps u need
3 use an app to make backup of apps u installed(i use and recomend AppControl, its really usefull) but you can user other apps,i think ES FileManager makes backups also.
4 Copy apps u pulled to ur pc
5 I usially get minimilst rom like aosp or syndicate and remove everything I dont need(stock browser, ringtoned, etc),just open up any rom with 7zip,delete apps u dont want and add the apps u pulled to /system/app folder
6 Now u have a custom rom that u can install
Hope this helps,i have posted GalaxyBlue rom on here,u can try it out its based on oasp magic its fast with some really nice apps included,i made new version based on syndicate also but I wont post it cuz alot of people dont appriciate sht on here.

If I do this, will the market show these apps as being installed? Also, is there a way to backup data for certain apps like Angry Birds?

Yes they will show up in market or about 90% of them will show up.
As far as large games go u don't wanna put them in /system/app folder but install them regular or put them in /sdcard/data folder in your rom but you also gonna have to mod MANIFEST.MF file,to make it short its not worth the trouble for large games-just install them regular thats what i do.

[Q] now rooted, few questions regarding apps

Now that you have root you have 2 options I'm aware of for our device. What your trying to accomplish is a link between your actual data folder where apks get installed by default on your internal memory to a replicated directory on your external storage. The device will install data to its default location but then this link will just move it for you to the mirrored directory. Zedomax and tweaker have both made a script to do this. Tweakers script seems to be a cleaner better method but is more user intensive to implement. Zedos script, which im using now is simple to use and it gets the job done. I've had no issues using it on any rom that has init.d support. Stock firmware will not work however, even with root so you'll need to install a rom with init.d support. Theres the recent stock jelly bean in android dev that has this now. Also our dev community has been busy and you got a few choices if youd like a custom rom as well.
To make that happen youll need a custom recovery that youll install with a pc program called odin. Thats a simple procedure shouldnt take more than a few minutes. Also you could do the same with an android app called mobile odin though I haven't done it this way myself so I may not be the best person to ask how. After the recovery has been installed youd want to backup your stock rom then flash your init.d supported rom of choice after a full wipe, then once thats completed flash zedos script, reboot and then everyones favorite: profit!!
If your still reading this at this point and thinking youd like to give it a shot let me know, I can point you to the relevant threads and maybe fill in some blanks on some areas where you need to read between the lines. Good luck and know I think its worth the time my redemption install is terrific, definitely an improvement over stock jellybean imo.

[APP][ROOT][3.0+] Backup2Tar v0.1 Flashable App+Data Backup using Tar.

Backup2Tar is a Free backup tool that I created to help restore my apps after flashing a new rom.
How it works :
Select which apps to backup from the UI
The app generates a tar file on your sdcard (update.tar.gz) with the package files and data.
Finally, the app will generate restore_tar.zip which contains busybox and a small shell script to find update.tar.gz and extract it.
As of right now it's a very simple app, there are no options at all and I made it for personal use and to (re-)learn Java.
FAQ :
Why tar?
because it's the standard archive format on Linux, preserves permissions and user information.
But all the cool kids use zip files.
Yes, sure you can hack a nice updater-script to fix permissions on all files, but it's bound to screw up permissions some way or the other, specially with apps that have executable files in their /data/data/.
Your icons suck
Feel free to create new icons for the app and I will gladly use them.
Is there anyway to help?
Provide me with ideas, ways to improve it, better artwork and feel free to donate!
TODO :
Toggle saving apps' data and/or cache.
Store other important settings (wifi, gps, etc).
Clean up the source code and publish it.
Tested Devices :
N7000 (running 4.1.2 / Phillz Kernel).
Rooted 3.0.0, 4.0.3, 4.2.2 Android emulators (tested using update-binary, not from recovery).
All comments / suggestions are welcome.
Changelog :
v0.1
Initial alpha release.
Sounds useful, downloading now. Thanks!

I'm not sure, I don't have any protected apps at the moment to try with.
If you can test and report back it would be great.
The app copies /data/app/xxx.apk and /data/data/xxx, so if the protected files aren't in /data/data they won't be copied.

I'll see if I can get some time to install and try it.
Have you considered adding /system/app and it's associated data to the list? An app might be included in one rom and not in another so I'd still want the ability to back it up even if it has to back it up to /data
Also I didn't see it in the screenshots but if not there a single checkbox to backup ALL apps in list would be highly useful rather than having to click all of them.
You can backup system apps as well.
I found a bug in restoring, some apps won't restore right without "reinstalling" using the package manager, gonna try to figure out how to call the package manager from recovery.
Workaround to fix the apps that aren't working after restoring is to use adb shell.
PHP:
$ adb shell
$ su
# tar tzf /sdcard/update.tar.gz | grep data/app/ | while read APK; do pm install -r "/$APK"; done
This basicly will use the package manager to "properly" install all the apk.
I will release a fixed version later today.
I will add check-all option as well, I'm still getting the hang of action bars and such.
does this script preserve "move to sd" location? i mean, i used a lot "move to sd" standard android function, to move many big apps to sdcard/.android_secure folder... of course, none of the those that use widgets...
i found that restoring with titanium backup does not preserve this: if i batch restore my apps, it fills up my internal memory (samsung note n7000), and i've to move a bunch of them to sd before redoing restore of the remaining ones... very boring...
is there a way to restore apps EXACTLY in the same location where they were when backupped? thanks
Is it possible to backup the whole ext partition as well? As Im using Link2Sd and to restore it quite tedious. My apps + games are out of the internal space.. So, I extend using ext partition.
Can we flash the backup to stock unrooted rom ,from the stock recovery??

3 weeks is enough?

will mount2sd work on android 4.2.2

i have installed Reolt JB 4.2.2 rom in my device , does anyone have idea how to increase internal memory on it
I haven't tried this rom yet but if you search through it's thread you'll see that one user reports that mounts2sd works fine with this rom and another having problems. I think the best thing would be to try it for yourself and report back. Guide for the script can be found here
its not working
i have tried it but it keeps crishing gapps everytime during boot
Have you tried disabling safe mode and reverse mount? I'm sorry but other than that I'm afraid I don't have any other suggestions except trying a different script
ya i have found some othet script

Sd Card Lollipop workaround write move files no root required

New update 5.0 lollipop And shield tablet wont write or let you delete or move in external SD Card? Theres a workaround option. The problem is the permissions change now app are allowed to write and delete in their own folder in sd1/android/data/appfolder . So the problem is that apps are not aware or not updated . But theres one app that have this workaround called sandbox where it let you put files in their sandbox folder write delete or move all your files in external sd card. Its called B1 File Mananger free in android market. Hope this help user that dont have rooted device. No root required.
Install B1 File Manager open, click B1 File Manager Icon , click local, click sandbox, here you can put new folders or files even delete them .
Path STORAGE/sdcard1/Android/Data/orb.b1.android.filemananger/files/here
Note don't delete the app it will delete all files in that path .
Have a nice day
Too much work, rather root if applicable or just deal
Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using Tapatalk
You only need to install the app and click sandbox that all. Too easy?
I rather use this than wiping all my data or voiding my warranty at last until a easy root is released.
Ditto. I've had to set up my Shield Tab 3 times in the last week and just re-encrypted and set it up this morning. DOn't want to have to do it again to unlock. :S
I've just upgraded to Lollipop so hopefully the Storage Access Framework gives way and lets me access the storage that Settings and every file manager can see except for SAF.
Your workaround is similar to apple methodology-- each app has segregated storage. The downside is that other apps can't even peek inside this special folder to load or scan content.
The bigger problem is that if your app is uninstalled for any reason, the data goes too. This could be a huge deal for people with apps like Sketchbook -- an accidental or automated uninstall could lose them months worth of work.
Not that you're to blame here, it's just that there are so many bad things that can happen.
