Apologies - I know this has been asked before but my problem is a bit different:
... a couple of days ago I had a crash and had to reinstall ROM. Everything was fine, but upon trying to restore Angry Birds (yes, again...) I can't for the life of it make it work. Supposedly the AB data folder is in /sdcard/data/data. However, after installing AB, playing one level and checking, there's nothing there!!! If I restore the data with QtADB the game exits before it loads...
Any ideas? Where on earth should I place my data before my gf kills me?
Thanks...
The savegame file is "highscores.lua", it should be placed in "/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds/files".
You can't explore the "/data/data" folder with a common file manager. You need Root manager or something like that (or ADB's shell).
Do not forget to set the file's permission for read/write.
Apologies - forgot to say that I have a fully rooted phone and am using ES explorer. But, for some reason, as I said, /data/data is totally empty, and that's why I'm at a loss... And when I copy my previous AN backup folder into /data/data (including, of course, highscores.lua) the game crashes before it loads.
If I empty the folder again it runs fine, so it must be drawing data from some other folder??
Noone has any idea?
Smells like a full wipe, dammit...
ES File Explorer can't browse directories that require root afaik. You'll need one that can such as Root Explorer.
EDIT: Looks like ES does have root. You need to enable it in settings, under Root options.

I can navigate everywhere on both the mob's internal memory and the SDcard, so I guess it does have root support
On the other hand, /data/data doesn't seem to need root anyhow, but I do have access. The problem persists - AB *must* be pulling data from someplace else

Nope, it's /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds, as has already been mentioned. If /data/data/ is empty for you, your file explorer does not have read access to it, as this is where all apps store data.

If a file explored doesn't have read access to a folder it can't even enter the folder, no?. Also, other folders under /data are populated. Finally, as I've mentioned I *can copy* an older backup (either through QtADB or manually, with ESExplorer) but then the game crashes.
[EDIT]Anyhow, I'm getting some weird crashes. Something is definitely wrong with the phone, so I'm doing a full wipe and will check later and get back to you...
Thanks for trying to help
What about the new amazon app store ad free version? Will I have to start from scratch?
I'll pay 99 cents to have ad free, but don't want to have to start all over.

That's a good question. I would assume it would install slightly differently versus the Android Market version as it would have to associate itself with Amazon meaning you would have to start over.

That would suck. Guess I'll wait and see if anyone can confirm or deny.
I did get rio, which is ad free and runs so much smoother on my underpowered aria.
someone told me ... and i also can confirm it does not erase your progress. it overwites the current version and saves data.
it tells u this when u install
nice!
Hey guys just rooted the phone finally today as I wanted to be able to gain better battery life and performance.
I followed this how to:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122657
Which worked great and installed the following:
-Clockwork Mod Recovery
-PeanutButta Jelly Time w/ Voodo Lag Fix
On my past phones (nexus 1 and nexus S) once you rooted you could delete any app on the phone but I dont seem to be able to do this. I wanted to clean out some of the stock apps that are installed on the Charge from Verizon such as: Bitbop, City ID, ect.
What am I missing here?
Download Root Explorer, make a folder on your sd card named "charge bloat" and go into system/app and remove what you need too.
Be careful with some of the stuff you remove though

Is there anything I must keep on?
Here is the list of what I was planning on removing:
AllShare
Verizon Apps
Bitbop
Blockbuster
City ID
Guided Tours
Lets Golf 2
Rhapsody
Rock Band
Slacker Radio
V Cast Media Manager
VZ Navigator
WeatherBug Clock
Also I just downloaded root explorer and went in to system/app folder and tried to move the apps to a the new folder I created on my SD card and I get the following error:
"apk cannot be moved because the file system is read only"
NM: I had to hit the mount button at the top
In Root Explorer you need to change where it says 'Mount R/W' to 'Mount R/O'
That will give you access to move files freely.
You should also be able to remove them with Titanium Backup I believe.
Thanks guys!
Can anyone confirm if Im ok removing the ones listed? also is there a list anywhere of stuff that can be removed?
I highly recommend you use titanium backup (its free). Backup the app you want to remove, then delete it. If you delete something you shouldn't have you can then simply restore the app.

Just installed Pro and now going to follow this list:

Thanks for the help guys!
I've just moved from 4.4.2 to 5.0 on my Nexus 5 and used Ti to restore all my apps. It kept hanging on restoring TwoDots so I skipped it and installed everything else. Now I can't restore TwoDots from Ti and I can't install it from the Play Store (error -506).
I'm thinking I must have some kind of corrupt partial restore of the app but I don't know how to go about solving that. Have wiped cache/dalvik to no avail.
Having the same issue with Google Keep.
Came from 4.4.4 and onto 5.0 on my Moto G LTE. Restoring via Titanium Backup gives me the insufficient space error which is weird, because I have a lot of space for apps. Tried via Play Store and it returned a rare 506 error. Still looking for a solution.
Edit: Just solved this from my side by deleting the data folder of said application. In my case, it was com.google.android.keep which I got rid of via an app called System Cleanup. Hope this helps.

Hey Zyquil. I still have this problem n cant delete com.instagram.android while using System Cleanup. Any ideas how I can solve this?
Error 506
Same problem. I have tried all the above suggestions, including reboots, to no avail. It's happening for Titanium, GoSMS, Roboform & FxExplorer, while others of similar sizes install ok. All of them have been installed and working previously. Sometimes Play Store just crashes with these, or I get 'insufficient storage, manage apps to free space' when sideloading.
Go figure!

I reckon my problems were caused by using the Link2Sd app. I moved too many apps to sdcard. A factory reset and reflashing my ROM sorted the problem. Link2Sd is still an excellent app manager app and allows (amongst other things) linking phone storage apps to the sdcard to save memory space. Just use it cautiously.
If you use a root explorer, goto data/data, there are dead files in there under google music, or talk, delete them , then try to reinstall from play store, worked perfectly for me and killed the 506 error, these are from past error installs and Android thinks the app is still installed. I personally use root explorer and within all the actual blue file folders under data/data, the corrupt ones showed as white unknown files, if I helped hit thanks.... These are actually like leftover residual file fragments from a prior intall, that for some reason Android 5.0+ doesn't clean out, tombstones
thankz ...working (data/data/ com.whatsapp - deleted)

Simply funciounou me, just having to delete files corrupted by Link2SD worth it
I fixed it with sd maid, running the corps cleaner. I'm on lolipop.
I used this fix and it worked perfectly.
I too use link2sd and after a crash I could not reinstall several of my Apps.
I used root explorer as described and when I deleted the non-blue files in data\data folder I could install all my apps.
Thanks to Thunder Droid

It works for me to reinstall the app, but now I can't move this apps to SD Card, do you know how to solve it, please?
And when I try to move the app to SD card with Link2SD card I got the following error:
"[INSTALL_FAILED-DEXOPT] "
Can you help me, please?
great

Thank you so much. This really saved me from resetting my phone!!! I spent the whole damn night last night ;(
Update: Some apps are still nasty and come up with the same error like: CF.lumen, Google Gesture, Tangram.

Exactly that!
I had Link2SD installed and had moved a lot of apps to the ext4 partition of my SGS4 with CM12.1. Now I changed my SD-card from 64 GB to 128 GB. I had backuped all these apps with Titanium, well, but I didnt delete all those links.
Effect was that restore with Titanium was not possible (forever the MsgBox "....blabla restore...". With Google Play I had this Error Code -506, which is nowhere described I guess.
After I deleted all those dead symlinks I could reinstall or restore the apps, only thing now: Titanium did the restore not to the internal system but to the external sd-card, at least told me so. Now I could move them through the systems app management to the internal system but I think this was not the most elegant way to manage.
same problem for me with few apps.
here my exprerience:
system cleanup do nothing
root explorer free edition can't browse data folder; pro version not buyed
es file explorer free edition has a root explorer but show an empty folder when browsing data
sd maid work great!
thanks @Aventura5
Thank you brother.

Wow! It worked like a charm! Thaaaaaank you! ??
FIXED. Got the same problem here. Trying to install new apps but it kept saying error 506. I'm a link2sd user and i was guessing that the problem came from this app. Just go to the settings>install location>select internal. It worked for me.
I found an easier way to fix this issue. If you have titanium backup installed, run batch mode and remove orphan data.
After that, install from playstore was a breeze.
Hit thanks if this helped you.

Hi community,
since one of the latest firmware updates I keep loosing write access to the SD card (Sandisk), e.g. the native camera app or Podcast Republic. Read access is working all the time. A phone restart will fix restore write access for a day or two, until write access is lost again.
Phone is not rooted, stock firmware v7.0. Wiping the cash did not help. Any additional ideas? SD card seems to work just fine.
Thanks, Eppentorf
Have you pinned down whether it seems mostly a 'time' (cache corruption) issue and or a specific app/apps use issue messing up the permissions on your setup/cache(?)? Are you using any file/system explorers that need 'access', and have you tried uninstalling them, one by one, over time, eg ES File Explorer, ect.?
Have you checked the permissions, once your setup goes haywire, and make sure the permissions are still set and working correctly?
What else can you tell us?
Hello and thanks for the reply. I currently looks like the issue was resolved by the firmware update published the day after my post. I will do some more testing and come back if I observe the problem again.
(I have not tried to uninstall the file managers, very good point, thank you!)
Hallo XDA-community,
I have the following issue and want to ask three questions I marked in blue.
I want to save my full system configuration with all applications as an image file on my PC without beeing dependent on a cloud service and recover my recently and accidently deleted Opera Mobile history.
This history might be in "\data\data\com.opera.browser\" if I am right, and it is not in the RAM storage after deletion, but exists as many data fractions after deletion.
So my first Question is, is browsing history of Opera Mobile only stored in the RAM storage after deletion or might remnants exist in a similar way like remnants of a deleted "history" file from Opera for PC on a HDD drive?
I really hope that the browser history of Opera Mobile is not saved in the RAM storage only, because I closed the application and need my phone to take incoming calls, which also needs RAM. Even if I didn't open it again this looks bad for my recovering intentions.
Older versions of Opera had the feature that the last deleted history reappeared after updating the application, but this isn't the case for newer versions. It can only be regained by a recovery software. The first problem is, that I can not save an image file of my system or copy my
Samsung A80 Android 10 System to another device, because I have no root permissions.
Note: To get root permissions one needs to unlock the bootloader, but unlocking the bootloader deletes appdata and parts of the system and there will be nothing to restore after it and no possibility to copy the actual state of the Android System. Copying "\data\data\com.opera.browser\" needs also root permissions, because these data can be only deleted or copied by the the Opera App and not manually by the user. Reading of "\data\data\com.opera.browser\" might be or might be not possible, because some people say "reading only" is not data modification, so it needs no root permissions, but others say that this also needs root permissions. Android 10 however provides the newly added feature that one can connect devices with this versions with the PC by using official applications of Windows created for the purpose of cooperating with Android 10, but I suppose this wouldn't grant me any root permissions. Maybe this feature allows to make a system image of my Android System. I will do some research if this is possible, but I have my doubts.
This leads me to my second question: Are there any known exploits that would allow to get root permissions without wiping device data for Samsung A80 Android 10?
Finally: Could a professional data recovery team help me to restore my browsing data or create a system copy for me, if I buy their help?
With kind regards
