Hotspot widget / Kitkat? - Moto X Themes and Apps

Has anyone found a hotspot widget that can turn off the hotspot? I've tried just about everything on the market... I can find widgets that will turn it on but nothing yet to turn it off. What used to work with Jelly Bean doesn't work with Kitkat.
4.4, rooted stock. Hotspot works great!

I made my own widget with Tasker and it has worked through all versions.

I tried that. I can set it to turn on, but when I try toggle or off, it won't turn off.

I just checked again and you are right, it will not turn it off. I was sure it worked when I first tried it. I am using an xposed module for the hot spot. I wonder if this Kitkat or Motorola specific issue.

I'm using the native tether app.

I am also using the native app. I noticed that manually turning wifi back on turns off the tethering. But somehow Tasker can't turn wifi on automatically while tethering is active.

I just tried that. I guess I can use that as a work-around until the apps catch up to kitkat. use a widget to turn the hotspot on, and then double tap the wifi widget to turn the hotspot off and then turn the wifi off...

The Wifi AP quicksettings tile on GravityBox works perfect for turning on and off.

I also use the tethering quick settings tile from gravity box, and it's flawless.

If u can root ur device and install xposed framework, that would be better. Just use gravity box or anything similar to customize toggles.

Anyone found a solution to this? Tasker is refusing to turn off the native wifi tether on my Moto X. It will turn it on fine, won't turn it off. This defeats the purpose of using automation.

I realize that this is an old thread but I have the exact issue. Using tasker I can turn on the hotspot just fine but it wont turn it off. Very frustrating.

Oh that's the accessibility feature called talkback I think. To turn it off you have to go into Browser Settings or System settings to turn it off. I can't tell you precisely where to go as my xoom isn't with me at the moment.

Under there you have a check box for turning on Accessibility, then under that options for SoundBack and Talkback.

Need help with tethering since new update.

T mobile us, rooted unlocked, never put custom Rom on it. I used to be able to tether even when screen shut off, now once the screen shuts off the data stops until I turn the screen back on. Any ideas how to fix this besides leaving screen on?

Bummer.
This actually had me thinking, since google play music is running before the screen shuts off and it constantly draws data, maybe thats why it stays active even when the screen is off. So I am going to have to test this theory by loading a huge webpage on the tethered device to see if you need a constant demand for data for tethering to keep working, I suppose I could just a youtube video.
Edit: My theory panned out and may lead to a fix. This is what I did
1) Turn on FoxFi an make sure screen doesn't time out 2} Tether my Asus Infinity to it making sure the phone screen doesn't time out 3) Start a long youtube video using the youtube app, I tried a 7 minute one. 4) Turn screen off on the phone and I was able to watch the whole video while tethered to my one s
My conclusion is if there is a constant data draw the tether will keep working even when screen is off. So they have enabled a rapid cutoff of wifi if your screen shuts off with no data draw, if there is a draw the data will keep flowing.
Test it out for yourself and share your results, off to try netflix.
Edit 2: Further testing confirms this on my device, This time I used netflix streamed dark of the moon and it continued to allow the tether to work. I dont want to burn my months data out testing this so we need a few more people to try this.
I have the EU rom but I'm experiencing the same issue.
I'm using Airdroid and it stops responding as soon as the screen shuts off. I can confirm that Ready2Mosh is right, since if I turn on the web radio and then shut off the screen Airdroid works flawlessly.
I have never noticed this before 4.0.4 so I'd guess the bug wasn't there. This is a major bug that has to be fixed soon by HTC.
What about 3g connection? Does it shut off too?
Does it do it if you just use the built in tethering app?
I don't think it is really a bug with android per se vs design
that is sleeping the app as backgrounded since screen is off and not being over riden anymore.
You're right. Tethering isn't put to sleep for me.
I can confirm the issue with airdroid and other apps though. I'm going to open a new thread in order not to hijack this one.
I tried airdroid and that works fine for me though.

Is there an app to mute and turn off vibrate when I lock the device? My phone is my primary device, connected to the same accounts and I would like the tab to only make noises when I unlock it. So far I didnt find a setting or app for this. Could you help me?

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but I could not get an answer in the forum. I have the same problem, I am using AOKP 4.2.2 build 5 ROM and although the "access to my location" is off, the GPS lock icon appears constantly in the status bar and in the notification bar as "location set by GPS". I've killed all apps but it didn't help. Any thoughts?
I had this gps problem too. It was always on and I could not close it. Only a power off would close it. Found out that the app yahoo weather was causing it. Uninstalled it and problem fix.
