Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but I could not get an answer in the forum. I have the same problem, I am using AOKP 4.2.2 build 5 ROM and although the "access to my location" is off, the GPS lock icon appears constantly in the status bar and in the notification bar as "location set by GPS". I've killed all apps but it didn't help. Any thoughts?
I had this gps problem too. It was always on and I could not close it. Only a power off would close it. Found out that the app yahoo weather was causing it. Uninstalled it and problem fix.

Oh that's the accessibility feature called talkback I think. To turn it off you have to go into Browser Settings or System settings to turn it off. I can't tell you precisely where to go as my xoom isn't with me at the moment.

Under there you have a check box for turning on Accessibility, then under that options for SoundBack and Talkback.
I am having problems with the Facebook notifications. I can not receive any of them. Its the ROM issue, because my wife can receive notifications and her phone is not even rooted. Anyone having the same problem or know how to troubleshoot?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
Its not a rom issue...if you've never signed into Facebook on a blackberry, notifications will not work! Sign onto a blackberry and you will start getting them on your android...idk why it works but it does

Unfortunately, it won't work then...its stupid but for some reason, it doesn't work til u do that! My gf had a blackberry, now she has a nexus and gets notifications, I don't cuz I never had one! Then I logged on her phone and they just pop up now

I just downloaded FB for the hell of it - have you gone into facebook > settings and checked "Notifications' active, then down to 'Notification ringtone' and set a tone? It was defaulted to 'Silent' on my phone.
Yeah all those are good. I just can't get the notifications on the status bar

Would u guys know anything about fonts?

@nativesmiley: Facebook push notifications will work where they show in status bar.
Here is what I did that eventually got it working -
Logged into FB on computer - In 'Account Settings' > 'Mobile Settings' - I activated my phone number.
In FB app on phone - went to Settings > 'Refresh interval' - Set it to 'Never' and Notifications set to 'Active'.
Clicked the three bars in top left corner, scrolled down to the bottom, click 'Account'. Then 'Account settings'. Then 'Security'. Enabled 'Email Login Notifications'.
You should compare these settings to your wife's phone.
I am also on Valhalla Black.
Title + I've checked all the settings and can't find where this is coming from. It only started when I reinstalled sky ics update. I have a limited plan and mostly use wifi. The 4G turns on even if I'm connected to wifi. I even have background data restricted. Any ideas?

Like using data turning on? Or just the symbol is showing?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
Sometimes it's just the symbol but it's hard to say. When I unlock it I hear a tone and the 4G turns on. Both the widget in the notification bar and my other power bar light up the 4G icon and I see the icon up by the battery indicator show up and show data moving.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA
Your phone will always send data if you have the autosync (in your notification bar or accounts and sync in settings) but it probably won't send much. If your on I cs then you can keep track of your data usage in the settings menu. The third option.......just turn mobile data on and it will start tracking how much you use. If its using a lot then an app (e.g. facebook) is sending data constantly. You can change the apps (whatever one) setting to not auto update or update less often. My 4g icon is on all the time but uses little data. Hope this helps.
And you can turn your data toggle(4g) off when your on wifi or just when you need to check stuff. You'll still get texts. Just won't be using data
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
It doesn't seem to be using much data, but simply toggling the 4G button doesn't work because it just turns back on by itself. I'd like it to stay off when I set it as off. btw, I'm pretty sure I have no apps set to auto update (I like to have control of what goes on my phone). I'll double check to be sure. Thanks!

The ongoing notification requires root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1770622
Or you can root to the Synergy Rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792499
The notification deletion is imbedded in the Rom. After flashing it, reboot once and it's gone for good

If you're on Verizon, it's impossible to miss. It's in your notification bar when you drag it down each time and reads "Wi-Fi off: turn on Wi-Fi"

Oddly enough, some report that they have neither the ongoing notification nor the annoying pop-up when wifi is off on a fully stock device. The vast majority have it but I've seen a couple saying they don't have either.

PROBLEM SOLVED!! (kinda.)
you can pull down the notification bar and long-press the "Tap to turn wifi on" ongoing notification and then click app info. from this point, the process will come up titled 'Android System'. (this is not what runs your phone, its just titled this) if you force stop this process, the notification will go away until the next time you boot up your phone! -i know its not permanent but it sure beats the hell out of it always being up there!!
THE MAIN BENEFIT OF THIS FOR ME (AND FOR ANY OTHERS WITH 4.1) WHEN YOU GET A MESSAGE OR EMAIL, IF ITS THE TOP NOTIFICATION IN THE LIST, IT SHOWS ADDITIONAL DETAILS. CHECK IT OUT IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT I MEAN.
I no longer have use to any airplane toggle since the 4.3 update. I've factory reset my phone without any help. I've also lost the ability to auto rotate since the update. Any help is greatly appreciated!

do u need help getting airplane mode toggle or getting auto screen rotation ( pull down status bar would say right there next to other options) also believe is in settings on display .im not on stock cant help much .if i had my bros fone i would help more .if u pull down status bar i think thers a settings icon to wat toggles to add o remove
I'm currently using the pull down notification bar to switch to airplane mode. I was using a widget to switch, but since the 4.3 update, airplane mode widgets don't work. As for the screen rosin, I have it set on auto but it No longer works.

hmmm try under settings accessibility or display to check if auto rotate is enable and i believe gives options of wat degrees to rotate.i was using my bros fone earlier trying to remember the settings . if not i think i even saw it settings/ scroll down..if everything is Enable .u could try an app called ultimate rotation control for the meanwhile.
as in for the widget ..all i can think of just remove it from ur screen and put it back on again .
sorry man cant help much now i need sleep
dont worry ur not the only one with 4.3 issues . my brothers fone lags
Auto rotate is enabled and I've tried a couple of wi-fi toggles
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
I can't be a lot of help but it's not uncommon for 3rd party toggles to not work properly after an update to a stock rom. For that you would do better to contact the app devs. As for the screen rotation, no idea honestly. Maybe get a sensor calibration app and see if it detects you rotating your phone. I'm assuming that you're on stock and that you've checked the rotation in multiple apps.
