[Q] Sim Dropouts (custom ROM) - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've lurked here for a few years and only have a basic understand of flashing and working with custom roms. With my XT925 (telstra australia) I've gone through a few roms in the past few months mostly various incarnations of CM, currently running the CM11 preview. However I get intermittent dropouts, it comes up with the message of no sim card (or on 4.1.2 the message was sim card removed/added). Doing a full wipe and changing roms has not helped me out here.
Is there a simple way to fix this that I haven't found or what should I do?
I've added a picture of the no sim message on KitKat
Thanks for any help you can provide.

[Q] GT3100 owners I need your advise on Sims/packages

Hi all this is a bit of a ongoing thread "sorry" but Im a newbie:silly: anyway I still have no sim seen /inserted coming up, and I just received a new data sim from Virgin,I flashed it again + wiped but still flashed with stock "French " 4.2.2 so ? haven't gotten round to Cynogen but will give this ago before I open up the Tab to replace sim card holder (if it is this?)
Anyway my question to all is what sims are you using in the UK and also Spain for the data/phone as this seems to be a sticky one as Virgin don't recognize it as a phone ? just a tab hence Data only sim ?? and have read that others have had similar problems with Three etc............
Thanks for any help

[Q] [HELP] CM10.1 on K860 problems

Hi there
Im having trouble to get CM.10.1 working on k860. What happened is i downloaded the latest cm10.1 szb file and placed it in sdfuse after backing up all my files etc. Then when i flashed the rom- The phone allows me to use it without network coverage for a minute or two, then locks it. SIM lock- and my sim code does not work to unlock it.
The Overseas firmware rom works perfectly, and enables me to do all the things.. however, i want to switch to CM. i dont want to keep using it.
I tried to install the CM10 some time ago and I had the same problem, I thought it was a baseband problem that was related to CM programming. I cant find any details on how to unlock my phone. I dont think its locked onto the carrier because the first sim i used was a chinese sim bought in beijing.
Help.

Can Xoom run without sim at all

I have had my original Xoom for a long while now - not sure exactly the version (601 rings a bell) but it was early in the very first release. ( it has 3g and wifi)
I've always had a sim card in it, however it was deactivated LONG ago, but still worked on wifi etc. My little fella uses it for simple games etc, but at some point the sim came out and we lost the little bracket thingy that it sits in - i believe that's needed right ? its been so long.
So today after numerous reboots, I simply could not get it factory reset, so I ended up following some great guides here to unlock then load the stock rom on there - I chose the Telstra AU version for 601 as it was the only version that sounded right for me.
That all went great and easy, however, without a sim, on startup im getting the "Tablet is not provisioned ... " error, and there is no way to unlock it.
So a number of questions - will stock rom simply not work at all without a sim ? I tried to 'fastboot oem unlock' and boot up like that to no avail.
If it won't work without a sim, is there a quick and dirty custom rom that is stupidly easy to install ? I like how easy it was to load the stock rom - if there is something like that great, otherwise the instructions i've seen for custom roms seem a little too much for my time.
Any pointers appreciated - i just need to get it back to usable for a 7 year old with games - it would be nice to install custom rom with latest android so that he can play some of the newer games, but not if its tricky and will take too much of my time - in that case i'm happy to just use stock if i can get it working without sim.
please can anyone at least advise whether this tablet with stock rom should work or not without a SIM ? (obviously 3G version AU)

Phone working with the Carrier despite of removing SIM Card!

Hello XDA Community,
The phone would be working intact with the carrier despite of removing the SIM card as long as the phone is not restarted or the removed SIM is inserted into another phone which registers the SIM.
Well I realized that it has nothing to do with the ROM, Kernel, Modem Firmware as I've changed the many Custom ROM of different flavors, different kernels, different Modem Firmware and even with Stock but the result is same i.e., "It works without SIM!"
The make and model wouldn't be necessary with this query so I am omitted that.
I'm trying to understand how and why this is happening?
Any help is very much appreciated.
I came across similar query by cypho posted in way back 2012 and the astonishing thing is it still remains Unexplained by the XDA Community:

Will not make or receive calls on AOSP roms when on LTE

I bought this phone recently and immediately jumped into the rom scene to see what stock roms I could load up. I have tried Ressurection Remix, Carbon, and Lineage. All three of them refuse to make or receive calls when I'm on LTE; from what I understand from searching through the forums is that it might have something to do with VoLTE. I tried to disable it via build.prop but nothing changed and as I mentioned prior attempted to install other roms. I'm going back to stock for now because it makes little sense to only run the phone on 3G only in fear of missing calls.
Model: FRD-L14
Carrier: MetroPCS (It shares the same network as T-Mobile)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly your best bet would just to stick with stock for now until the main Developers get more things fixed because no custom ROM supports VoLTE and there have been numerous reports that T-Mobile has a problem with custom roms.
