Every time I try to enable ART in dev options, the phone restarts and then I get a bootloop.
I am running stock ROM with Franco kernel 32.
Any help is much appreciated, cheers

Are you running xposed? Xposed is not compatible with ART.

Are you running Xposed? If so, that's the reason. Xposed is incompatible with ART.
Hi,
Xposed Framework is not compatible with ART runtime it's right, but it should not give bootloops. If you set ART it revert back automatically to Dalvik runtime to avoid bootloops.
From the Xposed Framework thread:
After installing Xposed, the runtime gets reset from ART to Dalvik...
You can be glad that I implemented this, otherwise you would be in a bootloop know.

Maybe something else...?

I have just got my nexus 5 a day ago running stock rom stock kernel, rooted with clockworkmod in play and I'm trying to turn on ART, the system asks to reboot and when it does there is no upgrading process when the device boots, I in to dev options and it indicates it's still using David, I've tried this over and over again and nothing, anyone have a clue what I'm doing wrong?

Hi,
Do you use Xposed framework and modules?
If yes it's normal because they are not compatible with ART, and makes revert to Dalvik runtime automatically.
If no, sorry I don't know...
I do use exposed, that's a real shame, what if I was to use a custom Rom like omni would it still revert back?

So yes it's due to Xposed and you can't do anything until the devs will make it compatible...
No you can use ART with another rom but not with Xposed, whatever the rom with Xposed you can't use ART...

You have to read the Xposed thread before using it...I am really desperate for the X to be working correctly on ART qq...

Every time I reboot stock ROM Franco kernel with art I get one app that says optimizing. Is there anyway to figure out what that is

Pretty sure you would need an adb logcat to clear up this mystery.
Is there an app I can get or must it be from a cpu

you can logcat with an app, when the phone is booted up already. but to see a logcat while its booting, you need to do it via adb while connected to your computer.
Saw in a random N4 thread about ART that if you have apps that aren't ART compliant, then you will have that on every reboot. Haven't tested myself as I don't care about ART since Xposed is more important to me, but would make sense.
I'm on cataclysm & Franco After reboot its showing Dalvik
Sorry for my English

you need to actualy have the app installed, open the app, go to framework tab, and tap unninstall button, reboot phone and unninstall the app.
or you can just dirty flash the rom, or restore the backuped app_process

For some reason my screenshot no longer works. It was working fine when I had xposed and gravitybox installed (and prior to that). I have now uninstalled xposed and gravitybox and using the power key and volume to take a screenshot doesn't work. Any ideas?
Power & Volume Down?

Thanks for your reply, but as I indicated in my OP that doesn't work.
Nandroid backup and wipe. It's probably an app

Maybe attach a screen dump when the issue arises - that may help narrow down the problem.
Did you uninstall the xposed apk, or flash the revert xposed zip in recovery?

I uninstalled xposed from within the app. I'll try flashing the revert zip and see what happens. Thanks.
