Please, help! I have this phone for 3 weeks... First two weeks everything was great: million of kernels, roms e t.c. But not long ago i' ve noticed that my camera doesn't focus on anything. Never. On any rom, kernel e.tc. I went to service-center, they installed me very strange rom (it was stock, but for example there was percentage of battery in the status bar). Everything worked well... But on the next day focus broke again. may be this is software problem, what should i do? Or just go to another service center? Thanks!
(In logcat i have noticed some problems with camera, i can attach it)

You went to a service center? I think that some ROM's are not optimized for the camera yet. I take it that this "service" center rooted/ unlocked the bootloader and put some alpha ROM on it. I recommend reading up on how to flash a ROM and flashing one of the many reputable ROM's in the development section. Percentage in batery bar could be nothing more than powertoggles or something.

Hey wonderful community!
I am having some serious problems with my GPS. Everything was good until I flashed Android Revolution 3.2 from Android Revo 1.6. Luckily I had a backup so I flashed back to that through clockwork and all was well for a while. Then I got curious about LeeDroid so I flashed that and seemed good but the other night, after confirming a GPS lock the first night I flashed it, couldn't get a signal. I haven't flashed anything since my GPS was working but I still thought it had to be software related. So I flashed my backup expecting it to work just like it did before, but I got nothing. I get AGPS but no actual sats. Even if I leave GPS test open for an hour it never even sees even one satelite, let alone using any. This is on the same rom, same kernel, **** the same backup. So I flashed a few roms, and even did a full factory reset and have had no luck. I searched a couple threads looking for solutions but everything I have tried has not helped at all. Just so you know what I have tried that hasn't worked is as follows: the GPS.zip file thread extracted and pasted into system/xx/xx/hw, reinstalling locations, clearing map data, and installing faster fix.
I know this was a lot to read but I try to help anyone as much as I can and would really appreciate some help on this. LETS PAY IT FORWARD PEOPLE LOL.
Thanks in Advance.
EDIT: Ok so still don't know what the culprit was but with a lot of help from Kirk I redid step 5 from the Hack Kit, which flashes the stock radio, and WOOT WOOT! GPS back to it's mean self.
You need to re-flash the radio. You can flash it using HBOOT.
Try stock rooted and faster fix from the market.

Can you explain a little better? like step by step, I am kinda new to HTC and haven't even messed with radios at all. I am still on the radio from the hack kit. Should I just download it and then how do I flash using Hboot?

1. Download this file http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BX5GV1CJ
2. Place the PD98IMG.zip radio file on the root of your SD card.
3. Power the phone off, remove and reinsert the battery.
4. Hold the volume button down and press power on.
5. The phone will boot into Hboot then Bootloader, It should see the PD98IMG.zip and ask if you want to apply the zip.
6. Use the volume up button to select "yes"
7. Once its done flashing, reboot the phone and you should have flashed the radio.
8. Finally, turn on GPS and run google maps and you should see the GPS icon start to flash.

Same issue as laxwillsch...
I am running 3.3 as of 2 hours ago - only issue was GPS. Performance is phenomenal on 3.3. I ran through your instructions. In step 6, mine quickly flashed up the screen that says it couldn't find any files to update, then returned to the HBOOT screen. There was nothing apparently for me to do, so I simply rebooted the device.
Guess what? GPS now works. I am certain the update didn't happen but something did! When I launched Google Maps, I immediately saw the satellite icon. I haven't seen that in awhile... Not waiting on Google Maps, I launched Compass (I like that app) and it locked 7 satellites in a fraction of a second. I returned to Google Maps and it works flawlessly.
My Radio version is 12.39.60.19U_26.06.04.06_M.
My speed test performance floats between 3.8 - 2.1 Mbps down and 1656 - 1200 Mbps up...
Thanks again!

Ok did it and it didnt find a radio to flash. I think this is because it is supposed to be renamed to PD98IMG.zip but I could be wrong. I will try that but I don't know if this will help because I actually already get the flashing GPS indicator it just fails to see any sats. Like absolutely none. Even if I keep GPS test up for an hour. It doesn't do anything. I dont understand this because I don't see anyone with the same problem. I think I am just going to exchange it tomorrow because I have a feeling something happened hardware wise because I didn't even flash anything to make this happen. The GPS worked one day and the next it didnt. And I didnt change anything, no themes, no roms, no nothing.

You need to rename the file as stated in my previous reply. Try that before you give up.
If you decide to exchange the phone, make sure you are within the 30 days when you bought it, and also s-off needs to be s-on and then install the stock ROM that came with the phone. Otherwise they will see you tinkered with the phone and altering your phone like that voids the warranty.
EDIT: Are you outside when you are looking for a GPS signal? The phone needs to be outdoors to grab a GPS signal. From what you said about leaving it on for an hour to look for GPS signal, sounds like you are indoors cause I wouldn't wanna stay outside for an hour in cold weather just to look for a GPS signal.

I tried it the way you posted with no avail. Then I just renamed it PD98IMG.zip and it updated this time but still no change. And yes I have been outside and on my deck, both places where I got perfect GPS signal a couple days ago. I really think it is something weird, because I have done everything I could think of software related with no change. I have probably flashed 5-6 roms and it is the same with all of them. I got excited when you suggested the radio but after it not changing anything I got to thinking that I never flashed a radio, I don't even have ENG-S-OFF so it wouldnt really make sense that it is radio related. I am open to more suggestions but I have tried everything I have learned about android in the last year with no avail. My next step is flashing the stock RUU and seeing if that fixes it and if not just taking it back to radio shack. I am over my 30 days but they said they can replace after 30 if the device is defective and I have a screen issue where if I press lightly on the search button it makes a clicking noise and plurs the corner of the LCD. Plus I am getting AGPS but literally my actual GPS is like totally borked. Not seeing any satelites at all, before even inside I would see like 7-9. Something is seriously wrong and I don't even know where to start.

That would be my next suggestion, to flash the stock untouched ROM. Hopefully that makes it work and then you can go from there. Either way, you need to install the stock ROM before you return it.
Also, did the phone show the update completed successfully or did it give an error?

Ya thanks. I can't promise anything though, I will probably be flashing something new tomorrow! Plus I still am a little confused as to why this happened. The last thing I flashed was LeeDroid 2.2.2 and I coulda swore that the GPS got a lock after I flashed because that is one of the first things I always check because it is something I use everyday, but I could be wrong. Anyway thanks for the help again.

No problem, anytime!
I've experienced the same thing also when flashing different ROMs. I finally followed the same instructions you followed and works every time for me and for a few others.
A new thread just popped up in the Inspire 4G General section with someone that has the same problem you had.
I'm completely lost. I have tried everything I have found on the forums and nothing had restored my GPS. I've flashed fixes, flashed new radios, new roms, formatted everything and started over with a brand new rom install. Can somebody please help me.

Have you tried using Hboot to flash the radio? Follow the instructions on post 5 in this thread. Might work for you.
I have read all the threads that have mentioned this issue and none of the solutions fix my problem.
Every time I open the camera for the second time in any session, my phone does a fullreset (takes about 3 minutes) and something to note is that it always returns to 100% brightness and i have to go back in to settings every time to change it to auto.
i have tried:
-uninstalling various apps that may be causing the issue
-resetting camera settings to default
-turning off geo tagging
One thing i cannot be bothered to do is a reset to factory as the sheer time it would take for me to get my phone back to the way i wanted could buy me a new phone!
any ideas at all would be most helpful

same problem with the camera app, I'll already do the factory reset (3-4 times) and the problem is still there. Sometimes, the phone restarted when I open the camera app for the first time.
I am using the original rom and I never rooted my phone

i'd suggest either rooting your phone, while still keeping the stock rom with s-off so you can do a nandroid back up and experiment or do a factory reset.
s-off will take like 15 minutes.

and correction 2) YOU could've test driven an ics rom(s) in that time and went back to stock a few times, i don't even know wtf that means bro!
Someone else had posted that he had to copy everything from the SD card to his PC, formatted the card and then copied everything back to the card. If that worked for him, maybe you could give this a try.
Have you tried contacting HTC? If you cant solve it and you were experiencing the same issue all the time maybe its a hardware problem?
nk33, have you solved ur problem? Got the same one. My camera on XE was working fine. And then a week or two later I've started getting a black screen with camera app. Nothing helped me (tried everything you guys mentioned here). I couldn't return my phone to the shop. It was bought as a gift in other country .
Repair shop wanted to take my phone from me for a couple of days. I've got private data there and I don't want to make another hard reset
camera
Any solutions yet?? Bcoz i tried resetting phone to formatting card but no good.
Further, i tried various roms but its still the same.. im exploring here hope ill found something but till then im putting my query here...
Simply upgrading to ICS sorted the problem put for me, nothing else works

I did the same except I didn't try any new ROMs, because I had got my phone upgraded a couple of days after I found that camera is malfunctioning.
If you have an official warranty then go and change the system plate or the whole phone.
Hey guys,
I tried looking for this issue but I can't seem to find it, I doubt I'm not the only one (I hope I'm not the only one...)
I've been flashing roms for a while now, fiddling with different settings/kernels/etc. and then all of a sudden I'm having issues with my Softkeys. I'll be using the phone and then they just go blank. What also happens is that the Search key gets held down (by a ghost, it seems) and it opens up the voice search option. I've also seen my Back button flicker as if it's being pressed repeatedly.
Right now I'm on CodeName Android 1.4 but I've tried 1.6, CM9 and it seems to be the same issue. I'm assuming that since this is consistant accross all ROMs that it's a hardware issue (I could be wrong) but I'm wondering if this has happened before and if there's a way to fix it.
Thanks gents
Hi friend,
The same happened to me once. It was very weird. I panicked, and locked the phone. Then when I unlocked it everything was as before. It must be some kind of a glitch, coming from CM9 built roms (almost all roms that are around). Try doing a totally clean install with a popular rom and see how it goes.
Now I remember that the same happened once again, when I got a drop of water on my screen, as the touchscreen seems to detect water as a form of touching and then all sort of weird things happened. Hope its a rom issue, not a Touchscreen failure.
Thanks man,
I'm really hoping it's not a hardware issue either as I'm not sure what the process is in terms of sending my phone in for repairs.
I'll try a clean wipe and install tonight and see how it goes.
Thanks again
Update: Alright so I ended up calling Samsung because I had come to the conclusion that it was a hardware issue because every ROM I flashed I had the same damn issue.
I got the ok to send in my phone and all that, I went to return my phone to Stock and when I installed the OEM operating system everything was okay... I seriously doubt that every ROM I downloaded was bugged.
I'm thinking it's just a general glitch or is it possible that 1 ROM I downloaded was bugged and everyone after that inherited the same problem? I don't know...
Hey guys.. I need serious help for my device.
Problem: My phone's display is not working properly.
I rooted my device successfully, used my rooted device around 3months without any problem.
Till, One morning I woke up and saw that my phone's display is kind of shaking. (no hardware damage)
I have currently cwm 5.0.4 installed with stock rom and kernel. I only used 'nameless' rom after my device showed up this problem, to see if a new rom can cure this problem. I never over or under clocked the cpu. Only used rooted apps like : Titanium backup, adaway and avast anti theft. and I have never dropped my phone so no hardware damages
Current Symptoms of the device:
1. No problem occurs when I load into bootloader , Open recovery, notification area, open dialer & message app. Display works completely fine here.
2. hTC logo looks distorted when I start up my device, but the logo looks fine when the device shuts down.
3. home screen app icons look broken(distorted), menu and setting too look broken but the dialer app works fine.
I can see all the contacts in the list without any problem. lock sceen icons look fine too.
* I attached few pics of the problem( sorry, couldn't take screenshots, coz it looks terrible )

hmm your in a tight pickle then.. i see that the disorienting areas are all in the same place, the only thing i can think of is replacing the Lcd if you know how to do that, be careful to not break the digitizer, if the device is under warranty i would try to get another one. wish you the best of luck mate!
Hi!
My girlfriend owns an HTC One S which has everything on stock, indeed it has JB 4.1.1 installed. It has suffered "helicoptering" since a long time ago (just to note it).
A couple of days ago she told me that her One S wouldn't connect to her home Wifi network... So I took a look and realised that One S' wifi was enabled, but every saved connection was out of coverage...
So what do you suggest me to do? Perhaps to flash CM12 (or any Sense rom)? The phone is 3 years old and out of warranty (of course). Should I contact HTC's service?
Thanks!

This is a random issue and it's happening also on latest ROMs (Lollipop 5.1.1 for ex). I usually restart the phone or turn on/off wifi several times. You could try flashing a newer ROM but giving the age of the device it could be a better choice to replace it with a newer device. HTC Service Center will just reset it to factory and maybe they'll flash a newer radio/firmware (but those were not officially updated for years so they'll be old also) and will take you some money...not worth it in my opinion

Unfortunately, WiFi connections lasted some minutes... It's weird, it's like programmed obsolescence... Is there any way to make wifi work (like soldering some contacts as in One X)?
