rooting droid developers edition? - Droid Ultra Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the droid maxx developers edition with an unlocked boot loader. I have read that with an unlocked boot loader the new droids are easy to root but haven't seen and methods. I'm really new at this but can follow directions. Like after soft bricking my maxx trying to upgrade to 4.4 I restored to 4.2.2 using ADB Telnet ETC. I am now on 4.4 and would like to root can anyone send me in the right direction. The boot loader is unlocked.
Also a site, page, glossery of terms like Side Loading ETC. That would be very helpful.

[Q] Safe to Unlock Bootloader via Motorola Tool?

First off I'm a noob at unlocking bootloaders. This will be my first time. I have rooted, SIM unlocked and flashed before, but never unlocked the bootloader. The reason for unlocking is I want to flash CM 10.1/10.2.
So I recently picked up a cheap Droid Razr HD XT925 Locked to Rogers. I have unlocked and rooted it. It is running jellybean 4.1.2
I have been looking around on how to unlock my bootloader when I came across a handy tool called the Motorola Bootloader Unlocking Program. Unfortunately I am not allowed to post an outside link. So please google it. It supports my device. So far I have downloaded the android SDK and installed my devices latest drivers. Is it safe to proceed? Is it a good idea to unlock my device via this method or consider another method and if so which?
Thanks so much for any help you can give me
It's a Motorola service for a Motorola phone, how would it not be safe?
Go ahead and unlock it.
I unlocked mine 2 months ago, and or was the first time i unlocked a phone and my first smartphone.
Nothing to worry about
Go ahead and unlock it of that what you want.

[Q] Unlock Bootloader Razr Maxx HD

Okay, so I got my Dad's Razr Maxx HD rooted. He is running the latest OTA but it rooted. I want to install a custom rom, but I'm not sure how to unlock the bootloader on this phone. I know everywhere it says not possible, but they also said no rooting. Is this possible?
Thanks!
Try this

its the unlock bootloader exploit. if you have VZ and updated to JB, you may not be able to unlock bootloader.

[Q] looking at buying a used droid ultra.....

i am looking on ebay and thinking of buying a used droid ultra i heard of locked bootloader. what exactly does that do ? are we able to install recovery and flash custom roms to all models if not what should i stay away from . thanks for any info.
Go to xda's swappa.com you can get a brand new Droid maxx for under $300
You should be able to unlock your bootloader for free very soon due to a new exploit.
Otherwise if the phone ships with 4.4 you can root it. Don't take any updates.
I don't recommend any roms. We have xposed framework to customize factory firmware. Plus you begin to lose functionality like active display, although a few newer apps can try to replicate it.

Hi! Sorry to hijack but I'm going nuts and looked at thread for hours and hours. I'd like to ask if I'm correct that I have 4.4 and that I can somehow root it. Could you kindly link to a thread that would help me root or get me in the right direction?
I went to Verizon today and got a Droid Maxx xt1080. I want to root it so I can just use Titanium to backup/restore before I load all my apps and settings back up, or decide to take it back and get a phone that I can root ($30 penalty 14 day return). I haven't rooted anything before. It keeps asking me to "Install system update New version: 19.6.3.en.US" and I press Later. About Phone says Android version 4.4 System version 19.5.3.obake-maxx_verizon.Verizon.en.US.
Thanks so much!
Just go to droid ultra, original android development. It's in the threads. You'll find many explanations.
Use pie exploit by jcase, and then to keep root after reboot you'll also need to use wpnomo.
I had a very hard time with wpnomo. Maybe due to our pcs. I just decided to unlock my bootloader on my 32gb droid maxx earlier in the year.
Dan Rosenberg just presented an exploit that will hopefully work it's way to us. So what I'm saying is, keep delaying update, try pie and wpnomo. If it's too difficult just wait for the bootloader because it's soooo much easier to modify with an unlocked bl.

[Q] 9.30.1.XT926.VERIZON Bootloader

I purchased the phone brand new thinking it would come with the very first firmware so I wouldn't run into this issue.
Well. I'm scratching my head debating whether or not to send it back.
I have successfully obtained ROOT using Towel-Root. But I'd really like to unlock my boot-loader!!!!
I have Googled everything I could think of, watched NUMEROUS videos. But no one else is running 9.30.1.
I have read that if I take the OTA update to 184.x.x then I would be screwed with ROOT and boot-loader.
Am I missing something? Or is it not possible to unlock boot-loader on 9.30.1?
If it's not possible, is it possible to use fastboot to flash Cyanogenmod to my XT926 without custom recovery since I have obtained ROOT?
This really sucks. I just upgraded from an XT907 running 184.46.15 and was upset because I could not gain root.
Can I update to newer android OS and still obtain root on my XT926?
I've done it!
Download the 183.46.10 update.
Use RSDLite 6.1.4 to flash the update.
Towelroot to root.
Motopocalypse to unlock bootloader.
PROFIT.

[Q] New Droid MAXX - Root/Bootloader options.

Background: I've been screwing around with roms and bootloaders and such since I transitioned from a Blackberry to a Droid Pro. Currently running CM 12.1 on my Nexus 5 on Cricket. Had gotten 12.1 running on my wife's Verizon Droid RAZR, but it was time for her upgrade.
I ordered her a Droid MAXX thinking that flashing CM12.1 would be a breeze, because it's an officially supported device. Little did I know the bootloader can only be unlocked on the developer edition. OK, fine. Thankfully, it's running 4.4.4 SU4-21, so Sunshine -will- work, however, Sunshine cannot get temporary root. So I need root access to let Sunshine unlock the bootloader. I've figured a couple of different way to go about this, and I was wondering if anyone could help shed some light on them:
Option 1: RSDLite / fastboot flash an earlier build of 4.4.4. Motorola has an official ROM of SU2-3-15 that I was able to download, which is supposedly only for the Developer edition, but from what I've read here there's no hardware difference between the phones. Once I'm running the SU2-3-15, perhaps Sunshine could get temporary root and unlock the bootloader?
Option 2: Run the Little2Slo's method as seen here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60073476&postcount=15. This seems slightly riskier but others have confirmed that this works. Just worried about bricking the darn thing.
EDIT: Went with Option 2; didn't quite work, problem here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61836177&postcount=33
