Is the Verizon Moto G guaranteed to receive Kit Kat? - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is the Verizon Moto G guaranteed to receive Kit Kat?
That's what Verizon says in the ad and on their website.
However, I have been burned by Verizon before when they promised Gingerbread
on a couple of Samsung smartphones. (again, in the ad and on the website)
However, the update never materialized as of today. I have long since gave up
hope or bothered with them.
Just wondering if it's possible for Verizon pull this again with a flagship phone
like the Moto G. (flagship in their prepaid phones)

If they have guaranteed you to upgrade then you have to believe this....or also not.
But as far as i have read the rollout started already.

speculation - how tough will root for g3 be?

I'm a tmo user and won't be switching carriers and currently have a nexus 5. I c considered the g2 but decided against it due to the issues with root and kit Kat. I know it isn't even announced yet but how tough d do you think the T-Mobile version of the g3 will be to root? Assuming it's available in june or July, I'm going to give it another month or two before I'd upgrade to give the accessories and devs time to do their thing.
If the trend continues probably pretty hard. All of the newest Lg devices on T-Mobile and Metro running kitkat, excluding the Flex I think, have stock recovery blocked...

[Q] Question: Repair or Moto G 4G LTE

About two months ago, I dropped my LG Optimus G. Best and fastest Android phone I have owned, worked great.
It cost $160 to replace the screen and don't reply to me about replacing it myself, I do not have the time or the patience for that, I have way too many unfinished projects.
In the interim, I bought a unlocked AT&T Go ZTE Radiant. While that works fine, it's quite a bit slower to respond than the Optimus is and Shopkick crashes constantly.
Problems I never had on my Samsung Infuse 4G or the LG.
So I want to banish this device to emergency status. The final straw is the poor low light (even with the flash) photos it takes.
The 4G LTE version of the Moto G is not quite available yet (Amazon is saying 4-7 weeks now) and there's no announcement of a GPE either.
I use AT&T so even the GPE of the Moto G would be 4G (like the Radiant) and should work in Latin America (where I am going later this year). LTE would be nice, but I can live with 4G.
I just hope I am not barking up the wrong tree and believe that having a quad core phone would solve many of the problems I currently deal with on the Radiant.
The LTE also has a sd card slot, so I'm pretty locked onto that version of it.
Thoughts and Suggestions?

My Moto G dual sim india still hasn't seen any 4.4.3 update. Been checking regularly.
Are there others as well with the same issue?
Edit Scratch that. Saw some other threads about people not getting the update.

1: It isnt an issue, it will come eventually dude calm down. its not a major update why so much hype?
Nope..! The update is not yet available for India. Recently, it has arrived for Brazil XT1033, maybe we are next.
The update is "Minor one" but still a big update for Indian XT1033 due numerous issues related with network and relatively lengthy discussion ongoing in Motorola Forums over HERE
motorola is now buy by lenovo thats y its so late of updates
1. so y nexus in india got every updates but not moto g .but in the start when flipkkart give mobiles at that time motorola told every one that its mobile products will get updates first,it is late now bcz at that time its in the google hand and now in lenovo???????

[Q] Lollipop update for Verizon Prepaid Moto G?

I've been searching but haven't been able to find if Motorola has a Lollipop update for the Verizon prepaid Moto G. It's pretty cheap at Best Buy right now so I was thinking about buying one to play with on WiFi-only but I would prefer Lollipop if possible.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/verizon...lack/3041063.p?id=1219086346405&skuId=3041063
If there's no official update, how easy is it to root and flash? Is it even possible?
Thanks!
It's not yet possible to root or unlock the bootloader.
I also purchased some at BestBuy for $20 and am using for WiFi only. Would love to be able to load custom ROMs.
There may be hope -

Questions regarding Android OS & Security Updates

So a couple years back on Black Friday I bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 from Cricket Wireless at a price of $200 and at first I felt like I got a great deal. I thought I was going to get the AT&T branded S4 (i337), but instead I got an obscure Cricket branded S4 (i337z). I was frustrated when the AT&T version received the update to lollipop but mine didn't. I'm looking to buy a new phone and have been doing a little research into it, but I still have a few questions.
1. Are unlocked cell phones more likely to get an android OS update than a carrier branded phone? Do they get them faster?
2. If I bought an unlocked Samsung or a Google Nexus, would I be able to update the OS without a Carrier OTA?
3. I've heard that Samsung & Google are now offering monthly security updates, do they rely on the carrier to push these updates or does it update directly from Samsung/Google? Will I still receive these security updates on a prepaid carrier like Cricket?
4. Are carrier branded phones even worth considering in your opinion?
Thank you for your time, and sorry for the newb questions.
Anyone have anything at all to add to this thread?
