KitKat and Theme Chooser - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm noticing that most kk custom roms don't include a theme chooser like most jb roms do. What's the reason for that? I've been searching for one but when the topic is brought up in the threads, the devs seem emphatic about not adding it. Were there changes in kitkat that make it difficult? Have any roms successfully implemented it?

I know liquid smooth has it. There reports of bugs. Apparently some stuff has changed that makes it difficult. I'm pretty sure xthemer xposed module works on kk now.

HK theme manager

I've been trying to get HK theme manager to work on Viper rom. I can't seem to get it to locate any of the cm10 themes. I'm going to assume that its not compatible with sense. Anyone have any experience with HK theme manager with a sense based rom? Thanks in advance

HK theme manager is an xposed modular that allows for cm 10 and cm 10.1 themes to work on devices. Now with that being said I have used it on GPE based rom and it worked perfectly fine but on a sense based rom I've run into this issue

And im thinking its because gpe is still aosp in a sense. And sense is basically its own entity. Im not sure though because ive never used it.

5.0 ROMs with CM theme chooser.

Are there any custom ROMs that have the CM Theme chooser yet? Thanks.

Nope, and id love to have a dark ui mod. I appreciate the cm12 roms but i hope we start seeing more customization built in. Now that we dont have xposed. Most of the 5.0 roms i have tried have basically the same features currently.
No, the CM team is working on the basic functionality of the ROM before implementing themes. It'll be added as time goes by.

New N5

Hey guys
I just got my N5 and i'm so excited right now .I come from a galaxy nexus device and i wish if someone can recommend a good setup for my new phone.
I love stock android but really don't like that white color of lollipop. What do you guys think is the best combination in terms of stability and battery life at present?

Any 5.1.1 Rom should do you well, and there are some with dark themes I believe.

AICP is a great ROM. Based on CM with a bunch of nice added features from them and other ROMs as well. It's on 5.1.1_4 (I think), and because it's CM based, it has Theme Engine, allowing for almost a complete redesign with themes.

Is there any stable one with a good battere life and performances?
Flash the M dev preview and find a nice dark layer to use with it

6.0 aosp rom w sprint support

I've tried a couple AOSP-based Marshmallow ROMs and none of them have the option to update Profile and Prl for Sprint. I know by definition AOSP shouldn't have this, since it's something propietary however is there a zip out there one can flash to bring this capability? I don't know if it's possible to take whatever allows this in the Factory Image and make it an add-on for all devs to possibly offer for their ROMs. But that would be .
Every aosp ROM I've used has it. Even the one marshmallow ROM I tried.

Really? Well damn. But can you point me to one?
Thanks.

That's stock based. AOSP based is the custom roms people build. I tried the chroma beta marshmallow rom and I couldnt even get data on sprint so i'm assuming there was an apn issue as usual. I'm waiting on Twisted Team to release their marshmallow rom because their lollipop rom worked pretty damn good on sprint.
Yea AOSP-based is what I meant.
Thanks for recommending Twisted!
I'm waiting for their M release.

People build custom ROM's based on stock and AOSP.

Update on a stock rom. The prl and profile stick. Only caveat is if you have trouble you have to flash back to stock to do it again. The only reason to have to do this is if your data stops working for some reason.

i just updated to cataclysm mm and it has the prl and profile update under more-cellular network-carrier settings. nice rom.

To be fair I think people add apks to most roms based on stock image and actually modify it very little, with the exception of cataclysm, which is heavily modded. AOSP based roms dont have Update Prl/Profile functionality by default because that comes with Sprint's proprietary software (just some additional apks) that needs to be added in.

CyanogenMod themes on non-CM rom

Hey all, I've got a Nexus 6P, and i installed the CM13 Nightly. Not so impressed with the state of the ROM, but i fell in love with CM's theme engine. Is there any way to apply CM themes to a non-CM rom? I've googled around, but if there is a way, i havent figured out how to word the question to make XDA or google give me the answer.
Thanks and sorry if this has been asked before.
No there isn't. You can use layers on stock marshmallow (layers are better than cm themes)
