If you don't have any idea how you did it, you're probably stuck with re-flashing the ROM. Are you sure you didn't just disable them in the ROM options somewhere? What ROM are you on?

Its stock rooted, I dont have an unlocked bootloader. I want to update to the next OTA update so the notification stops flashing but this is stopping me

Install xposed & the newest gravity box.
Should fix it.

You probably hidden the navbar via build.prop edit. Check for the "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" line at the end and change the 1 to a 0.

[Q] Going from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 worth it?

I have used the German rom to upgrade to 4.1.1 thanks to the wonderful step by step instructions here. Are the improvements worth going to 4.1.2? So far the only program I have found not working is Nook reader.
Thanks,
I'm debating the same thing. I'm doing it to get rid of keyboard lag and allow you to switch to multi view within apps. Hopefully I don't brick my device. People are keeping quiet about it for some reason.

I've been using redemption rom on the 8013. I will never go back! You can use the multiwindow mod to make almost anything multiwindow, snote is almost usable in 4.1.2, and the rom comes with inverted gapps
Well I just took the jump to 4.1.2. I think it's worth it for sure. The only special thing you have to do is keep it in airplane mode, but its nbd. I have an 8013.

its just reversed colors. black background with light writing. easy on the eyes and battery
Redemption ROM has options when you install to disable carrier networks so you dont have to worry about airplane mode too
Updated to 4.1.2 and got better support for the S-Pen.
hey, i'm runnung redemption rom v.3.1 on my n8010, i selected all inverted ggaps in aroma installer but only the gmail app is inverted, on first load play store was inverted but after reboot it is just normal play store. i have tried re-installing rom twice (once to disable phone features) but it's still only gmail. anyone got any idea's how to fix this?

Airplane mode?
Yeah. Airplane mode. Like on a phone. Basically that just keeps the phone from searching for a wireless signal. You can still have wifi on working though! If anyone else has any questions let me know.

I upgraded to 4.1.2. Just like you said after the update I put it in Airplane mode which turned the WIFI off. I turned the WIFI back on and good to go. I was able to install the Nook reader in 4.1.2 but not in 4.1.1.

It was easy actually. I noticed the most improvement going from 4.0.4 to 4.1.1. There are some differences in 4.2. I am enjoying it. Thanks to all the guys here to give great instructions and take the time to test.
I just did the German 4.1.1 JB update last week. My Note is not rooted. I'd like to do the multiwindow thing with my apps, but see that I need 4.1.2. Is there an updated file I can use, or do I need to use a custom ROM to get this? I don't really want to do that.

You do not need to root, my 8013 is not rooted. I used Odin to update following the instructions found on this site.
Cool, thanks! Which instructions? The same ones I used to update to 4.1.1? If so, what steps need to be repeated with this file? If you're talking about different instructions, I can't find them. I just keep finding threads with people saying they updated to 4.1.2, but nothing about how they did it.
Yes, you do it the exact same way that you flashed 4.1.1

Yes how to upgrade to 4.1.1 and not root. I believe the instructions are in this General Q&A section. Followed them exactly. Read the preceding posts about the airplane mode.
Thanks, folks! I'll give it a try. Looking forward to getting more apps in multiwindow, especially Dolphin.
Can anybody give opinions in more differences between 4.1.1 and 4.1.2? Is it worth my time to backup and flash this from 4.1.1? What would the benefits be? I'm on a P3113 WiFi US version and have already spent a good amount of time customizing my stock ROM by backing up and removing bloat.

[Q] Root or wait?

Hy people...
I'm finnaly got the JB in my phone... It was hard and complicated to get it... and that's why I'm resisting to get the ICS back to keep the root in JB.
Now the question: Do you think that someone will figure out how to root the JB without going back to ICS? or it is impossible?
Thanks a lot!
Maybe. I couldn't wait so I did return to ics to root properly. Softbricked my phone but managed to fix it. No regrets!

I think you need to unroot with ota root keeper before upgrading. Keep a backup!

You can try resetting your phone to factory settings and then download and install the OTA from the configurations menu.
Keep in mind that resetting the phone to factory settings removes su, so keep a backup, unroot the phone and then reset the configurations.
Maybe you'll have to root again using the utility after doing the factory reset.
I, too, had to try many times before nailing it.

Just out of curiosity, what is worth it? I just got the phone, and I've rooted every other phone I've had. So far, this seems like the first one I don't need to root. I'm on shared data, which means I get wifi hotspot for free. I don't need titanium backup this time. The JB Moto UI seems light-weight, fast, and the battery lasts forever, so a custom ROM doesn't seem necessary. I'm not trying to be a smart alec, just honestly curious as to what rooting can do for me?

For you there is probably little benefit, though it's always good to keep titanium backups, and it's great for freezing problem apps you never use and don't want to remove. I also use Nova launcher and several other apps that require root for full functionality.

[Q] No NFC Unlock ("Skip") on 4.2.2 12.15.15 update?

I'm running stock (rooted) 4.2.2 12.15.15 software on my Maxx, which should have included NFC unlock capability with the OTA update. However, I dont have the option, and even uninstalling the skip setup app with titanium backup and reinstalling the latest version from the play store does not give me the app or the settings option. Does anyone have an idea what's wrong? Thanks!

IIRC, in order to unlock the option (on my unrooted Maxx) I just tapped the Maxx to the skip - that started the NFC unlock setup. There was not NFC unlock setup to run until you tap the phone to an NFC unlock device.

So does the motorola skip work with the 2013 droids or just the Moto X? I can't seem to find a good clarification.

Since the 12.15.15 update from last November, it works on the Droids as well.
See https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/96493/action/auth (for the Maxx clarification, but the software was the same for the Ultra and Mini.)

[Q] How to change back to tablet mode?

Hi, since I flashed the 4.4.2 Kitkat leaked version the tablet became "phone style" mode and everything is now strechted out to the big screen like its a 4 inch phone..
It wasn't like that when I was on the old JB stock..
Is there any way to fix it back some how?
I read some where (for nexus 7) that I can change the dpi in the build.prop and that force it for 'tablet mode' but I tried that and nothing changed..
Any one knows how to fix it?
Thanks,
Jordan.

Im not sure if all of them could be fixed by changing the tablet settings as it is an app incompatibility, but one thing I am sure is that the lecturenotes settings were always 2 sided so the main menu is on the left and the sub menu is on the right.. now it switches the whole window like in mobile phone..
I'm not sure about the others but just check how grosly its stretched out to fill the screen..

@mcjordan92: Concerning LectureNotes' (and other apps') settings: How the settings is displayed (two so-called fragments together or one fragment directing to another fragment) is decided by Android, not by the app.

People that doesn't have this bug, could you please say what ROM do you run and some info? Perhaps reflashing could help.

Things missing and not working in Lolipop Roms.....

So I recently got my LG G3 and love it. I immediately rooted and flashed a Lolipop rom. I am making this thread in hopes of figuring out a few features that I am missing or someone else has already discovered.
1. How do you get the long button press on the back button to kill apps (I have it enabled in developer console but it does nothing. Tried a few 3rd party apps too. Still nothing)
2. Has anyone created or modified the xposed framwork to work on lolipop yet?
3. Is there a way to have a hard button for the camera built into the rom? (Currently now I have a app that allows me to bind it. I have it set to double tapping the down button to open the camera)
Thanks,
Alan
Belongs in q&a section.... But anyways.
1. Unless there is a ROM that has it built in then no..I haven't seen it
2.No
3. No not that I've seen in lollipop.

There is ROM support and the 2 custom ROMs you are using prove that. D850 has only had the ability for custom ROMs for about 4 months so you need to give it time.
As far as AT&T update, are you referring to Lollipop? You need to be on stock KK to get the OTA. Stock Lollipop now has a means to root and use TWRP. Go to the LOUNGE in the general section to find out more.

Xposed
Xposed framework is also available it's in alpha or beta phase can't remember which but it seems very stable on my phone also its not like the traditional xposed installer you have to flash a zip file then install xposed installer apk. Official thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
I also have problems with 5ghz WiFi bands sometimes they show up sometimes they don't typically they aren't there though.
