Things missing and not working in Lolipop Roms..... - AT&T LG G3

So I recently got my LG G3 and love it. I immediately rooted and flashed a Lolipop rom. I am making this thread in hopes of figuring out a few features that I am missing or someone else has already discovered.
1. How do you get the long button press on the back button to kill apps (I have it enabled in developer console but it does nothing. Tried a few 3rd party apps too. Still nothing)
2. Has anyone created or modified the xposed framwork to work on lolipop yet?
3. Is there a way to have a hard button for the camera built into the rom? (Currently now I have a app that allows me to bind it. I have it set to double tapping the down button to open the camera)
Thanks,
Alan

Belongs in q&a section.... But anyways.
1. Unless there is a ROM that has it built in then no..I haven't seen it
2.No
3. No not that I've seen in lollipop.

Oh whoops sorry I should have posted there. Thanks for answering my questions. I am actually just about to download your kernel haha.
Can a moderator move this?

I don't have a kernel.... I have a index in the general section that has everything we pretty much have for our device go check that out. Cheers

What ROM you are using? Is cm working fine? And have you OTA?

Right now I'm on stock lollipop. But it always worked for me on CM12. Had issues with it on early builds though

Are you rooted? Can you extract your modem for me?
just run in adb shell with su:dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/modem of=/sdcard/modem.img
then post it out.

I'm on stock lollipop. No root... If you're having problems you may just want to flash back with the flash tool.
May I ask what rom you are on?

cm and slimrom.I shouldn't buy D850....No rom...and multirom support.
ATT still no update to me.And no tot leaked. So no new modem..

I continue to have a problem with the lock screen freezing
When the phone sleeps, the screen will wake up , but I cannot swipe up to use the phone
This happens with several of the lp ROMs. Any suggestions? I do not have a password setup on the lock screen.
Thanks.

The trusted devices does not seem to work like it is supposed to. I have tried adding my LG watch and still have to put the pin in.

There is ROM support and the 2 custom ROMs you are using prove that. D850 has only had the ability for custom ROMs for about 4 months so you need to give it time.
As far as AT&T update, are you referring to Lollipop? You need to be on stock KK to get the OTA. Stock Lollipop now has a means to root and use TWRP. Go to the LOUNGE in the general section to find out more.

Xposed
Xposed framework is also available it's in alpha or beta phase can't remember which but it seems very stable on my phone also its not like the traditional xposed installer you have to flash a zip file then install xposed installer apk. Official thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
I also have problems with 5ghz WiFi bands sometimes they show up sometimes they don't typically they aren't there though.

afaik that would work only on non stock rom, it's a matter of accessing apis that were protected times ago or that are now removed. I don't think there's a solution.. but i don't know if someone made an xposed module for that or even if it is possible.

This root method was patched before it was even released...so if you want to keep root be sure not to take any ota/security updates until methods to gain root on newer firmware's are found...works for now but future updates will put us right back to square 1

i just did this on my new KK g2, already had 4.4.2 on it when i got it friday and i asked this question in another thread, but didnt get a response. so this method of rooting will not keep us from getting future OTAs but will more than likely loose root, is that what you are saying? and that this method may not work on say 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 (which just hit the nexus 5)?

so this method of rooting will not keep us from getting future OTAs... correct
but will more than likely loose root... correct, but there are apk's that can prevent it
and that this method may not work on say 4.4.3 or 4.4.4... correct
Duties otas will probably beak root, yes.. And threes methods may not work.. But, who's saying that 4.4.3 comes to the G2, as it just saw 4.4.2.
4.5 is right around the corner..

Just to confirm i'm understanding this correctly, if i just install these two APKs i'd have root access and a recovery on my phone? I'm currently on Android 4.2.2.
Any reason not to do it in this manner, or a more recommended way of doing it?

Thanks for posting this. I've gone through a long drawn out process trying to install a custom recovery on my d801 G2. I tried flashify, twrp installer, freegee, nothing worked for my phone. Have had to revert back to stock multiple times because my phone wouldn't function properly. I'm typically pretty good with rooting, and this g2 has had my quite frustrated =P Just wanted to double check that this would in fact work with no issues on a 4.4.2 d801 phone. Would love some feedback from others! Thanks

Boot into recovery and then flash the newest TWRP... 2.7.0.0 or 2.7.1.0

I noticed that some of you worry about an update while being rooted. If you are rooted more than likely there will be a rooted version of your rom to flash via recovery. Dont worry about an update as long as you can flash an updated rooted rom.

You need to flash a kernel that is permissive. I was previously using 'the governaa' wich is a near stock kernel for ND2 and my app radio worked
Since the NE5 update I have not found a near stock kernel to use

Ok so im back on this hunt again...
Just flashed the Governaa ND2 v1.0a and v0.2 with no success.
Tried the terminal commands setenforce 0 and get enforce still enforcing and this is reflected in system/about too. :-/
Offering a $20 prize to anyone who gets this set to permissive on a stock rom.
SO just noticed that kernel is for a sprint phone... woops! been working on this for the last 5 hours... I give up for tonight.

Yes, the rom Im using has it removed.

Thought this might have something to do with Knox. I had removed it from the true stock rom and tried this as well before I flashed the one listed above.

Yeah tried it stock and on the rom I am running now. It says in the app that it changed but getenforce and the system about never shows it as changed. The dev has a note on the app that it does not work with Knox, eventho my rom is Knox free it's still not working. In theory that app should be all I need, but no luck yet.
Sometime this weekend or next week when I get the time I am going to try a few other roms.
Thanks!
Custom kernel will get ya there. Can also try this if Knox is truly disabled on your device and it might work with the stock kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524485
Wanam Xposed also has an option to change to permissive upon boot.
Just a few more options for you.

Would you mind recommending a kernel for the VZW S5? I'm quite familiar with custom roms and the whole process have been doing that for years. Just never messed with changing kernels.

In about phone my kernel version did not change (Thought it would.)
Still cant seem to disable SElinux.
Thoughts?

This is the Sprint specific thread for the S5. Therefore I cannot speak to what kernels work best on VZW devices. This is a question that is best posted in the VZW thread.
I also cannot comment on kernels that are for the international/unlocked version of the S5. If you are using a Sprint version of the S5 then I would stick with the kernels built for that device. Otherwise post in the threads relative to your device for better answers.

Thanks for the ideas.
I have tried flashing other kernels but the kernel version never changes in about. Not sure its really doing it. Have been rooting and chaning roms for years but never messed with the kernels could you recommend one for my S5 on VZW? G900V I believe.
As far as the App , it doesn't work. Also tried Wanam Xposed it never changed the status to permissive.
Also tried an init.d script with a rom that is supposed to support them. Saw the log the script made but it wasnt able to change selinux satus either.
Any other ideas? Trying to get this to work with my Pioneer AppRadio and it has to allow bluetooth touch emulation.
Thanks!

I posted that reply while I was at work and had not seen your's yet. I understand that this is a Sprint thread. As you know the phones are very similar and there are some kernels out there that claim to be universal. Just trying to see if someone on the other side of the same road had any input that could help since the developers often tend to support multiple variants. Thanks for the tip tho.

Thank you for the reply. Right now because I'm CDMA I'm just stock from, rooted, unlocked bootloader, with latest busybox installed. Eventually I will go to CM when its working for me. I've tried several of the various ways to install listed in the apps main thread to no avail. Lollipop is tricky when it comes to this app though.
Edit: I honestly love this app and music sounds like crap to me without it. Hopefully you have an idea on how to help me. Thanks

Well my friend just as I was about to give up it worked. What I had to is install it properly in the system folder setting the correct permissions and in FxCompatible mode. Of course it would not have worked without that Selinex app. Thank you bunches, I would not have figured it out without you. I was getting zero help in that cluster Viper thread. Good lookin' out. Can't wait to try it out on my headphpwnes [emoji2]

Okay, like how did you get to that point, and how can I do the same?
Is there any real advantage to running MM instead of LP?
I'd probably lose the ability to install ViPER4Android if I went to MM and that would not be good, so there would have to be solid advantages to having MM.

Doze to give you better battery management , a lot of apps now are only compatible with lollipop and up.
But its your choice if you are happy with JB you can stick with it.

Lol, I made a typo!
Not JB, I have LP. See my signature.
I use Leandroid. Doze would be inferior anyway.
I'll edit the post.

Hello, I am thinking of getting this phone but I'm worried about not being able to update to 6.0. I currently have the OnePlus One and I'm on 6.0 and I love all the new features. To get M working on this do I have to simply, unlock the bootloader, root the phone, install custom recovery (TWRP) and then download the rom + gapps to make it work? That is the standard process for other phones, I just want to make sure I won't have any issues before I buy the phone.
Thanks for your help in advance.

salam
i do B326 to B511 all thing are good but i see 2 notes:
1 - i don't find my explorer internet .
2- i don't find my loupe.
If you want to try MM on Mate 7, you start with a standard phone. Stock recovery etc. Just drop the genuine Huawei update or stock ROM into the dload folder on SD card and start update from the OS running normally. Can also start update in recovery mode.
Have to be very careful to only use an update or ROM that is compatible though. If you use the wrong one it bricks the OS. I think differences in CUST folder, maybe partition sizes and such.

I would recommend getting the phone, but still sticking with the OP1 for a while, as you will definitely not appreciate EMUI. There's this really awesome guy working on getting Cyanogenmod 13 running on the device. He just made a massive breakthrough with getting GPU drivers running, so it can be anything from a few more days to weeks before we have a stable-enough build.
Check out his thread for more details and updates.
