How to disable "google messaging service" from constantly running in the background?
Google messaging service constantly runs in the background, (not a cached process) and I want it to stop. It's part of google services framework. I've tried using advanced freeze on it to make it stop, and my signal bars turns grey. So is there a way to make this become a cached process and run when needed, so it doesn't use my battery life constantly?

Question: Twidroyd Background Notification

Erm, I may not receiving notifications despite having "Background Notifications" ticked. I believe because after a while, the app is being killed in the background and it does restart again to get notifications. I am NOT using any task killer app. So just wondering why is there such an option for "Background Notifications" when it doesn't work after a while? Is other Twitter apps also facing this issue? Or how do you solve such a problem? Because I remember trying the Official App and even Plume and Tweetcaster but all the same = i.e. no notifications after a while.

Unwanted Push Notifications

I am using the latest version of the Oxygen ROM (Gingerbread 2.3.5) on the default kernel. Lately I've started getting push notifications for facebook and my text messaging (on top of the notification from handcent). I have the notification settings turned OFF in the facebook app and in the default messaging app. I even have the "background sync" option in android settings disabled. Yet I'm still getting these unwanted notifications. I don't know what app I could have that would cause this. I checked the running services and the only things running are the standard "Settings, Google services, keyboard," etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please and thank you?

Restrict background data? Which background apps are restricted on earth?

On Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Settings - Connections - Data usage, Menu button, there is a checkbox, "Restrict background data".
I wonder what background apps will be disabled to use mobile data if we click the checkbox of "Restrict background data". In other words, which apps or processes are using background data?

Every messenger, google apps, facebook, evrything that gets data from the internet while the app isn't running in foreground.
If you select that for Media, you can't download anything from Google Play over mobile data. Which I found out the hard way.
Basically what it does is prevent apps from using the Internet in the background over mobile data (3G/4G). This includes widgets, newsapps, messaging apps and facebook.
They'll work actively, but not in the background.

Internet Speed Meter hides widget

Hi, I'm used to using Internet Speed Meter. It's a fine application which displays a floating widget with inetrnet speed.
But the widget often hides. I realized that it hides always when I made a call but I'm not sure if it hides also with no action from my side. I'm using Call recorder too but disabling didn't help.
Any suggestions how prevent application on background to stop? I had enabled notification, it didn'd help.

I use network monitor mini and I have no problem. But you must take care of the Doze mode from Google and the Galaxy built in battery optimization (which I disabled).
For Doze mode go to the battery settings and turn off doze for your app specifically.
Doze mode turns off every application communication and tasks after your phone is stationary for about 30 minutes I think. It opens a maintenance window every few minutes to applications do what they have to do and then turn apps off again.
It is a good approach to save battery, but it has drawbacks. So, turn off doze for every application that you need to keep it running every single minute.

[q] Exit app completely

Hi. I've an app that I use frequently and I have set it to run when screen is off in battery settings. It's a GPS tracking app (Flo). But when I exit the app and clear it from app switcher, the app keeps running in background.
How do I exit this app without entering Settings>Apps>Flo and then Force Close it?
So when I'm Finished tracking my trip and exit the app, I don't want it to run in background.
