I just noticed after today's update of Motorola Assist, that I no longer have an option to select the Driving Assist function. Has anyone else experienced this?
FIX - I was wrong. I had frozen "Motorola Contextual Services" using TiBu, which was causing the issues.

I know this isn't really the same issue, but a couple weeks ago, my Motorola Assist was running constantly. Would not stop using processor time and was eating my battery alive. Had to freeze it with Titanium Backup. Haven't unfrozen it since. This is with with JB, not KK

They had a new years day bug that caused the sleep mode to go rabid, destroying the battery. It leveled off after the first and has worked great ever since.

I suspected that was the cause (Time/date bugs seem to be pretty common across all sorts of platforms), I just hadn't gotten around to trying it again. Thanks for the info, I'll have to give it another go.
My Assist no longer detects driving. Super-annoying.

It works great for me.
I had the same issue. I cleared out the cache/data of the Assist app and restarted and got it back. It would still show driving mode while driving but didn't have the option until I took the steps above.

Been lurking for quite a while now and have had the ATRIX 2 since the day after launch.
I pay pretty close attention to applications and their battery consumption. Today when checking I found that an app named device health application had been running. Does anyone know what this app is? Have google'd it. It didn't find any info.
Thanks!

Thats a good question
It showed that it used 77% of my battery yesterday. If anyone runs across the true name of the app I'd like to know so I can disable it through the package manager.

That's interesting. Its only used 3% of my battery today - so isn't a problem for me yet. However I have noticed of isn't responding to a force stop yet.

It's always been <10% batt usage for me until the other day when I noticed it was up around 15%. I selected it in the batt usage screen and it's battery usage appears to be GPS and not so much CPU. It had the GPS on for 25mins total that day. I find this a bit rediculous and decided to just freeze it with Ti Backup. It's now not contributing to CPU usage, and I don't notice the GPS symbol w/o firing an app that uses it. I also haven't noticed any ill effect yet, but I'd be interested in knowing what this thing does.
I suspect it's a moto app for collecting device stats to aid in trouble-shooting issues, but that's just a guess. I'm not a fan of apps out of my control just firing up GPS at their whim. and no, I'm not willing to go full manual and start GPS myself everytime an app needs to use it. My phone works for *me*, not the other way around.
that's interesting. I haven't seen it on my since the day I posted about it. Didn't notice it doing anything with the GPS. I keep mine turned off unless I need it. Will have to check that one out if I ever see it again.

Yeah, you've got something going rogue on you. May be an app, or corrupted app data, or something harder to track down. If it's something you don't mind dealing with, a factory reset may be in order. Otherwise, you would try and see if it's being cause by wakelocks. Using Battery Battery Stats can point you to PWLs or KWLs, but if that yields nothing, the factory reset may be your solution. Sorry, it's hard to give a definitive answer on this.
What version are you on, OTA ICS, Leak 1 or 2, or GB? ROM, if any? When did this start happening, and can it be isolated to any indicator(s), such as opening a certain app, using WiFi, bluetooth, etc?

I can't say for sure that it's a battery issue, seems unrelated to this stage occurrence. I'd have to say it was software related, but if the swapped battery has cleared up the problem, and it decides to reappear, you can try what I suggested above to track down wakelocks. You may still have to resort to factory resetting, but you'll have to be the one to make that determination...

Now can someone on JB who used to get the crash post their experience? This is one of the things that is keeping me on ICS.

I had been having ridiculously high battery usage from maps even without using it, as GSAm battery monitor had been showing (Must have app, btw). Now with the update, apparently this has been fixed. My phone seems to last much longer and maps uses about 1% of battery when it used about 40%.

Tried Gsam not quite sure what it does that Android already have does not. In fact, it claimed that my screen has not consumed any power in the past few hours, but the number one power drained was by my browser. Go figure.
Re: maps got an update
Finally rooted and installed ViperXL last weekend. Google Nav crashed within 30 seconds of starting. Tried it 5-6 more times since with the same results. Maps was updated to latest version. Still having the crashing, but now crashes within 10 seconds of starting. Interestingly, the voice guidance still continues to give directions after Maps has crashed.
Hi All,
Ive been having an issue with my P905. Android system is keeping awake all the time. Anyone else experiencing this? Any fix?
I've tried factory reset. It worked fine for a few days but its not sleeping anymore. I have two profiles set up, not sure if this could be an issue? I dont want to root due to warranty issues. Ive tried installing BetterBatteryStats but without root the guys cannot help.
I've tried reinstalling the official software without wiping but this did not help. All the apps I have installed on the tablet I have installed on my Note 3 as well, other that bloat.
Not sure what to do now. Please help.
Thanks

I had a similar problem, and digging around, found that the NY Times app was using up a huge amount of the battery, even though it was set to only update every 4 hours. I removed it from the Magazine UI page, and while I couldn't uninstall it, I did restore the app to the factory image and deleted its data/cache. That fixed it for me.

This is so hard without being able to root the device.
Backing up, when you say it is kept awake, do you mean that it won't go into Deep Sleep, or the screen is actually staying on?
Assuming it's not a screen timeout issue, the places I looked were in the settings battery section - it shows what procs are using up the battery. I also checked settings for applications under running, looking at who was accumulating CPU, and also the System Panel app, which gives a different view into processes running.
What I would recommend is to charge the tablet up, then right before turning in, restart it (which will reset all the usage counters) and leave it that way overnight. Check first thing in the morning for what has been happening during the time it should have been in Deep Sleep.

I'm not seeing any smoking guns there. If you're not seeing anything suspicious under Running in Apps Management or one of the other performance monitoring apps, you may have to just start uninstalling things and see if you can isolate it that way.
What does the battery chart look like, tap on that green/gray graph and take a screen shot. This reminds me of my LTE Galaxy Tab 10.1. LTE would consume battery like crazy sometimes, particularly when signal strength was marginal.

try the greenify app?
last i remember the developer released a non root version but im not sure if your device is supported.
search playstore for "Greenify" and get the non root version
it hibernates most apps until you run them manually.. you could use this to possibly pin point the app that may be preventing sleep? hibernate all the apps you can and then remove on app from hibernation list and see which app is the culprit... each time removing it from hibernate and then putting it back or rather replacing it with another one so you can accurately see the effect of each app on sleep?

I tried to greenify everything that I could. This did not help. I found that WakeLock Detector works on non-rooted devices via a PC version. I tried this and yesterday I think I found the cause. I don't see this running on my P905. Quick web search mainly brings up links listing in in bloatware lists for various models.
Hey y'all,
I have an Optimus f3 and I am having some issues with the notification bar flickering as if it was being pulled down rapidly. I have searched countless places (mainly Google) and I have come up with nothing on anything even remotely close to my problem.

I'm having a problem that isn't quite similar, but may prove relevant. Also on a f3.
My notification bar completely disappeared, and and has reappeared for around four to six hours at a time once now, for no apparent reason. Some other things. 1. Wallpaper switches between my selected and stock/default.
2. com.android.systemui stopped a few times.
3. Can't access recent apps via long press of home hardware button.
4. Sporadic notification, sometimes they work, others not. However, system ones like low battery never do.
5. Is factory resistant.
I hope maybe these issues could help with yours.

If you're still having this problem, you could try following the unbrick guide (flashing LG's ROM in emergency mode). You may want to install recovery and wipe what you can first to fully clear out as much as possible, as the unbrick method doesn't actually wipe your user data (which may be part of the problem).
