You can try
- Clear Play Store data
- Clear Google Play Services data
- Remove/re-add your Google account
No idea about the red wifi icon.

I did a search and didn't find anything that addresses my problem. I've been on SV7 since 9/20. Up until last Thursday the play store showed most apps. Now it only shows 16 to 22 apps regardless of category and when i search for apps I know I've seen before they are missing (ie. Lookout Security). I've forced closed PlayStore and cleared cache and data and it still shows the same number of apps. The only thing I've installed recently was WatchDog Lite.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try clearing data/cache again, but this time delete your Google account information, reboot, then re-enter it and see if it clears up the problem...

it won't show GAPPS ..... i encountered same
no question about updation of GAPPS...
Tried the force close, data and cache reset and deleting acct and ended up losing data connection. I ended up reinstall SV7 and everything seems to be working.
So recently something weird is happening. When I connect to my wifi, I can go on the internet, use tweetcaster, email, everything, except the playstore app. I get the not connected/retry error. I've searched and searched and tried all the fixes like clearing cache, deleting accounts, everything. When I switch the wifi off, and connect via 3G, it all works just fine.
Any ideas?

Oh, and additional info, Play app on my Note II on the same wifi network, works perfectly.
Same Error
I'm stock and I get the same error as you do. I retry and it usually works. I also have an Acer A500 and I get the same error msg with that. I don't think it's your tablet. My wife has a Note II and I don't know if she's experiencing the same problem. She is stock also but her tablet is running a different android version. I think she's on 4.2.2.

Dont know if you tried this, but here it goes:
Remove google account, force stop play store and google services, clean cache and data from play store and google services, then reboot to recovery, clean cache and dalvik cache, fix permitions, reboot system, log in to google again, and see if it helps

Tried that now. When I'm setting up the google account, I get "Can't establish a reliable connection to the server"? I'm trying to set it up over the wifi, and as I mentioned, the Note II is connected to the same wifi and no problems.
I'm about ready to tear my hair out.
Ok, so I deleted the wifi connection, added it again, and now I have Play store working over wifi.
That was weird.
Same issue here, did you also get an update recently?
This problem started about two weeks ago. YouTube randomly popped up the default (useless) message stating that YouTube had crashed. It repeated the message over and over; I had to remove the app just to be able to use the phone. I fixed the problem by clearing the Dalvik cache and normal cache from TWRP, then reinstalling YouTube from the Play Store. That worked for a few days, then the problem started again. This is annoying but I was at least able to fix it.
Today, however, the problem started again and this time clearing the caches didn't work. I don't know what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated to be able to use the app again.

Try to clear app data and cache for Google Play Store, Google Play Services, framework and YouTube. Reboot and try again. Uninstalling updates of YouTube or removing your Gmail account could help too.

I've now tried all of these steps--cleared data/cache for Store, Services, framework, Youtube, uninstalled/reinstalled YouTube, still didn't work. Removed Gmail account, rebooted, re-added Gmail account, still nothing.
I don't know if this is related, but as of several days ago (after this original problem started) my Google account no longer auto-syncs anything. I have to manually sync everything from the Accounts section of Settings. I use the Gmail app; very frustrating to not get updates.
If the problem persists whenever 5.1.1 gets pushed out I'm planning to do a 100% clean reset of the phone, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.
Play store is supposed to do one thing. To download apps into your phone. And it doesn't.
Whenever I try to download smt, the bar keeps going endlessly, and it says downloading, but nothing happens, like actually downloading the damn thing, or showing percentage progress, nothing. If I pull down the notification bar, it says downloading is paused. Awesome. Things I tried so far and that everybody would other wise suggest I do: Deleted cache and data for Play Store, deleted cache and data for Play services, Deleted cache for Download manager, cleared data and cache for Google Services framework, force stop play store, force stop download manager, rebooting device several times during process, deleting Google account, making new account, Factory reset, reset app preferences (which does nothing btw, I don't even know why it's there), changed from wifi to data etc. The phone is not rooted, the memory is not full.
So the quiestion is: Is it just me or Android started sucking big hairy balls since Lolipop 5.0?

It's quite old, but performs adequate, except this bull****
I'm using an Samsung XCover 3, which I have rooted (TWRP) recently. I'm using the stock firmware (android ver 5.1.1) on it.
It took my quite a while to get all the apps back with the desired settings after rooting the Phone. Today the Phone really seemed to verry slow, and having some freeze moments once in a while. So I've decited monitoring the system, to see if there were some apps interfering on the background.
Long story short: When I tried to install an app in the play store, the download meter went straight to 100%, but then nothing. The app didn't seemed to get installed, no matter how long I was waiting. So I googled a bit and tried some possible sollutions, but without anny succes.
Things I've tried:
- Clearing cache and data from the Google Play app
- Clearing cache and data from Google Services
- After restart, no progression...
- Deleted the updates from Google Play App
- Deletede updates from Googles Services
- After restart no prgression, and even wasn't able to update Google Services and Google play annymore.
- Resetting app preferences
- After restart no progression...
- Formatting cache and Dalvik in TWRP
- After restart no progression...
- Removed cache and updates from Google app.
- After restart I was able to update Google Services now, but I can't find an option to update Google Play Store.
- After last restart I wasn't able to update or install other apps annymore. So it seems I got back at the starting point here.
Most of the sollutions given above are from google searches, I'm out of ideas now...
I'm hoping that there's somebody who knows how to solve this, I could go back to a factory reset, but I don't want to go through all the hassle of installing and configurating all the apps again.
Thanks in advance!
