I'm using an Samsung XCover 3, which I have rooted (TWRP) recently. I'm using the stock firmware (android ver 5.1.1) on it.
It took my quite a while to get all the apps back with the desired settings after rooting the Phone. Today the Phone really seemed to verry slow, and having some freeze moments once in a while. So I've decited monitoring the system, to see if there were some apps interfering on the background.
Long story short: When I tried to install an app in the play store, the download meter went straight to 100%, but then nothing. The app didn't seemed to get installed, no matter how long I was waiting. So I googled a bit and tried some possible sollutions, but without anny succes.
Things I've tried:
- Clearing cache and data from the Google Play app
- Clearing cache and data from Google Services
- After restart, no progression...
- Deleted the updates from Google Play App
- Deletede updates from Googles Services
- After restart no prgression, and even wasn't able to update Google Services and Google play annymore.
- Resetting app preferences
- After restart no progression...
- Formatting cache and Dalvik in TWRP
- After restart no progression...
- Removed cache and updates from Google app.
- After restart I was able to update Google Services now, but I can't find an option to update Google Play Store.
- After last restart I wasn't able to update or install other apps annymore. So it seems I got back at the starting point here.
Most of the sollutions given above are from google searches, I'm out of ideas now...
I'm hoping that there's somebody who knows how to solve this, I could go back to a factory reset, but I don't want to go through all the hassle of installing and configurating all the apps again.
Thanks in advance!

I know this has been asked before, but nothing seems to work. Google play simply refuses to download or update any apps, it says downloading, and the downloading progress bar shows in the notification panel, but the percentage does not come up and no matter how long I wait, it doesn't finish. This is on my mother's Samsung Galaxy s3 Mini, 4.2.2, and unfortunately not rooted (unfortunately meaning I feel the problem would probably be easier to fix with root, haha). It works fine on WiFi, I have even tried to "jump start" it by starting an app download with WiFi, then quickly switching to mobile. I've cleared play data, cache, uninstalled updates, stopped/cleared data for download manager, same with play services + uninstalled updates, forced my current versions of google play and play services onto her phone to ensure she would have the latest version, removed and readded her Google account, tried other apps, restarted the phone multiple times during the uninstallations and clearing data, toggled airplane mode, booted the phone without data after wiping Play data and cache and starting it FIRST with WiFi, then switching to data, hit update/install with airplane mode on to force error 923 (mainly to see if errors could still be triggered, or if the downloading bar would continue to attempt downloading), tried a different Google account, force killed download manager while a download was pending for Google play + relaunched Google play.... I've tried everything I can think of except for a factory reset, which is ridiculously stupid if that's the only solution.
Edit: Things got interesting. As a process of elimination, I used Chrome to download a random image online. Same as Google Play, the downloading bar and arrow showed up, but will not download. Seems the problem lies deeper within the download manager.... on a nonrooted android, what are my choices to fix this?
Edit (again): Finally got download manager to download things online, but google play store seems to "lock it up", meaning when I try to install on the play store, the installation never actually finishes, and afterwards download manager will no longer work online for random images and files. It's as if something is stuck.

Try the following:
Update your phone's firmware.
Update Playstore.
Try clearing cache using Recovery Mode.
Use 3rd party app.
Try updating using a specific custom ROM for your device.
If all else failed. Try Formatting.

Thanks for the tips! I'll give them a go tomorrow
Hello everyone,
so this is 100% my fault and I feel stupid for it happening to me....but oh well. It started when I couldn't get into Google Apps anymore. Play store told me I had no network connection, YouTube couldn't get into my account with the same error, even though I was connected to our Wifi and had internet. So classic Google Services issue, and looking up the problem it seemed I had to uninstall Google Play Services and then reinstall them and the problem should be fixed.
Now here is where I went derp and uninstalled the Google Services without looking at it before to know what version I had to install. Okay, no problem, this should be easy to find out. I'm on Android 6 with the recent update we got, CPU is armv7 architecture and the phone is in 480dpi. A quick look at the backup I had from Android 5.1.1 confirmed this, where the last number in the parenthesis was 238. So I downloaded the most recent Google Play services version, 9.0.83, with the 438 number for Android 6, installed it and it keeps crashing. Now I already tried multiple ones, I tried the one for nodpi, I tried the 238 but it all keeps crashing, constantly spamming the "Google Play Services has stopped working" error.
So here I am, at wits end and asking you guys for help. Did I go wrong somewhere along this? What version for the Google Play Services have you guys installed? I completely removed the app each time before installing the new one, removing all leftover data, clearing cache and the dalvik cache but to no avail. Keeps crashing.
1. Backup data trough usb if possible
2. Clean wipe, reinstall rom + gapps = profit

Seems I'll have to do that, yeah. I had hoped I could do it without wiping....but ****
9.0.83 has problem on my OPO. I rolled back to april version and now it is ok.
Play store is supposed to do one thing. To download apps into your phone. And it doesn't.
Whenever I try to download smt, the bar keeps going endlessly, and it says downloading, but nothing happens, like actually downloading the damn thing, or showing percentage progress, nothing. If I pull down the notification bar, it says downloading is paused. Awesome. Things I tried so far and that everybody would other wise suggest I do: Deleted cache and data for Play Store, deleted cache and data for Play services, Deleted cache for Download manager, cleared data and cache for Google Services framework, force stop play store, force stop download manager, rebooting device several times during process, deleting Google account, making new account, Factory reset, reset app preferences (which does nothing btw, I don't even know why it's there), changed from wifi to data etc. The phone is not rooted, the memory is not full.
So the quiestion is: Is it just me or Android started sucking big hairy balls since Lolipop 5.0?

It's quite old, but performs adequate, except this bull****
Hi Ive recently bought the phone used and factory reset it, but the play store is stuck on pending updates, none of the apps update and i cant install any new apps.
Ive tried clearing cache/memory, reset multiple times, playing with the power settings - anything I could find online.
Nothing seems to work, does anyone know why this is happening? Id like to try sort it out as i only have a certain amount of time to return the phone.
During the intial set up, my SIM works, and i skip all the samsung stuff but that shouldnt be an issue. The play store is also up to date according to the settings.
same issue with OP8T nothing seem to work. wtf
Try this. Delete the cache/data from the Play Store app and the cache/data from the Download Manager app under 3 dot menu/show system app and shut down the phone and wait 5 minutes to restart phone

Delete Google account and recreate it if the above doesn't work.
Alternatively you could download the apps you want on another phone and use ApkExport to copy and transfer them to the affected phone.
I store copies of all my apps like this so I don't need to use Playstore if I do a factory reset.
It saves time and confusion plus preserves apps that Playstore has altered or purged.
Play Store work fine on my S22 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra over ayear, but suddenly, it start to have problem and not working as expected. I Hhave tried everything but cannot solve the problem. I badly need help because I don't kjnow how to get help from Google, and Samsung. Here is the problem

2. After doing that several times, ehrn I tap on Manage apps & device, Play store do not check the update anymore, it display a sattelite image wirh message Something wehnt wrong - Try again. This happen on both device

Go to Settings/Apps. Find Google application not Play Store.
Clear Google Application Data/Cache. Restart the device immediately.
