[Q] Kit Kat Overwirite - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Xt926 is currently seem edited to run on T-Mobile. It works well. When the Kit Kat update rolls out, what are the odds that the seem edits will be overwritten?

Tethering after Kit Kat update

I am currently un-rooted and have the entitlement check removed fro ma previous root so I can tether.
Does accepting the update put the entitlement check back?
Yes

The good news is; as stated and linked above, the new kit kat entitlement hack works like a champ.
The bad news is; You need to be rooted to do it.
Worse news is; If you didn't follow the SlapMyMoto thread instructions for obtaining WP off and root before taking the 4.4 update...you're screwed (till someone finds root on kit kat).
Advice from someone who has been there several times...don't ever take an OTA unless you wait and watch XDA for root solutions. Especially with a moto.

If my phone is rooted can i still receive at&t's update for kit kat?

I haven't installed any roms on my phone its just rooted. Will I still get at&t's update for kit kat ?

Even if you are offered the update, it will fail due to it being rooted. Some have reported semi-bricking also occurs.
Suggest you positively avoid any update unless or until you return to 100% Stock.

Why do you want the ota? It will be leaked looking before att sends it out. Just install a Rom that incorporates the kit Kat release

The post above is, indeed, for 4.4.2 radios but those radios were extracted from a Moto X file - not MAXX. I'm wondering if the radios in the recent MAXX soak test are the same as in the above post or slightly newer.
BTW, I'm running the 4.4.2 radios from the above threat - works great, but I did not have any issues to begin with - so I dont know if they really improve anything or not.

weird, its the same damn build number but its kit kat unless verizon messed up their support pdf
if you are rooted, DO NOT TAKE THE OTA Kit Kat update... it upgrades knox to version 2, which no one has seen yet. You may not be able to root your phone or go back to 4.3 after you take the update

Verizon constant push to update 4.4.4

Anybody else getting constant 3 times a day pushing to update. Towelroot last week and install native tether last week now pushes.
No push here. Download and catch that OTA, then post it here for us all.
Btw, it's still 4.4.2 but it has 4.4.4 security fixes, but that's it. No other 4.4.4 features, so it's not 4.4.4.

Lol, don't take the update until you push it for us all to grab first!
@iBolski - this isn't the supposed Motorola patch update, correct?

It could be. They don't tell us when they are going to push it out. As it is, I'm running gummy as the wifi is more stable than stock and it's currently broken on cm11s latest nightlies.

I've tried the download, it comes up with (Info: The update could not be properly validated.) Please try again. 21.11.21 en.us Status Failed. Is this because I'm rooted. I'm running 19.6.3 Obake Build SU 2-3.3.
Verizon pushes this three times a day. Any thoughts on how to capture this any other way.
believe your in wrong forum, try http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-ultra , but if your rooted yes the ota will fail

Try using the app OTA Snatcher from the play store. Then download the update but don't install it.

You DO NOT have a Razr Maxx HD. You either have a Droid Ultra or Droid Maxx. (OBAKE)
19.6.3 Obake Build SU 2-3.3 - 4.4_r1 Droid Ultra/Maxx firmware.
21.11.21.obake - 4.4.4 Droid Ultra/Maxx firmware.
Motorola Droid MAXX (XT1080M)

Motorola Droid Ultra (XT1080)

No my new phone is a XT1080 Maxx, my old phone is XT926 RAZR Maxx HD. I do know that.

As I stated in my first post, my xt926 is receiving these pushes. My xt1080 is already on 4.4.4, sorry for pissing off this forum. I just thought Verizon must know more about what people are doing with their phones than needs be.

Okay, you have got me thoroughly confused now. Please answer the following questions:
Your xt1080 is running stock, correct?
Is your XT926 getting the constant OTA pushes?
Is your XT926 bootloader locked or unlocked (helps with the next question)?
What is on your XT926 currently (stock or custom ROM)?
If custom ROM, what is it?
If you are running a custom ROM on your XT926, and that's what's getting the OTA pushes, then the only way I could see this happening is if it's a stock-based ROM with the stock XT926 kernel. If it's an AOSP-based ROM (like CM10/CM11, etc) that's running a custom kernel, then I don't see how you would be getting the OTA push notifications. However, if your bootloader is locked, then you won't be able to run non-stock-based ROMs like CM10/CM11.
Not sure why you threw in the XT1080 as that has caused serious confusion, hence all the questions. You didn't tick off the forum, you just confused us thoroughly.
