Warmer color replacement - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Today I received the replacement for my N5 since it was affected by rattling side buttons. The problem is that the new one has got this damn yellow tint, it looks horrble!
Does anyone know if this is covered by warranty?

no. the yellow tint is googles opinion of how the screen should be. its only software. install a custom kernel that support gamma control then change your screen tone.

Does it have any bad effect on the device in the long run?
My nexus 7 2013 screen is way better than on my nexus 5

I had the same yellow screen problem, I've been using francos/phantoms "color" kernel and my screen looks great now, REALLY close whites & color to my N7 2013 , try it!

I don't think francos has made any color customization to his kernel.…I tried the cooler color settings in the elemantalx though

Franco used to but stopped at about r14, now phantom gamers? is continuing to add the color tweak to each of francos latest builds as an experimental option..

I contacted them, let's see what they say. (The same person I contacted previously and he was very kind)
Anyway can you link me a full guide to rooting and custom kernel for N5?

Thank you.
Today the power button started rattling again, so I'm going to contact them again to replace the new device, again. I won't give up with ANYTHING, I keep sending back N5s since it will be perfect.

Nexus 5 screen with Purple Spot on dark backgrounds

I just realized when i was tinkering with my settings that I have a small purple spot/smudge on my screen. It only appears in dark backgrounds like black, grey. I have called google and they will allow me to keep the device for the time being and sending me a new one. Has anyone here have the same problem?

Regardless, it should be under warranty and this is a defect, so the seller should give you a new one or repair it.

Capacitive lights are not brighter after update!

Are yours any brighter? I truly think not! This was my main reason for trying to get this update ASAP but I am very disappointed that they didn't make them any brighter.

for me it's the same thing
and unfortunately i don't think they can do something coz it's a hardware issue
Are by any chance on the stock kernel 30O?
you only see the difference if you got 2 phones to compare.

My friend got his yesterday and came by my house for me to root it etc, i had already updated to 4.4.4 (the second ota aswell) and his capacitive buttons were actually brighter than mine (he was 4.4.2 and i was 4.4.4).
That said, no, they did not get brighter.
While I agree they don't appear any brighter, its really a non issue for me. After a few days of using the phone, I already know where the buttons are.
No one cares... Although I agree I notice no difference
Obviously people care if they are posting in this thread. Have a good day

Replacement phone displays issue?

I had to get a replacement phone because the volume button stopped working.
I don't know if it's just me, but it seems that the display on this new one is very washed out and had a pinkish tint to it... I don't know, it just doesn't look right.
Does anyone else have this issue, or is it all in my head? I am a picky person
UPDATE: I just called Verizon for a replacement with no problems. Hopefully this new one has a fresh screen.

Sounds like a display panel issue to me. I would definitely beginning another replacement. I know its a hassle but I that would drive me nuts. I know if you're not happy with it you can have another replacement ship to you. I wouldn't wait too long though get it taken care of as soon as possible

I'm just afraid that they will say since there is nothing wrong with it, they won't give me a replacement or that they will charge me for another one.

I definitely call them and find out that information for sure. I'm sure if there's an issue with the phone that they'll send you another one free of charge. Just call and explain it to him. You don't know until you ask. Now it specially since you're on the newest firmware you can't root it I would definitely be exploring my options

I may do that.
Also, I just now noticed, but the top of the display bleeds. So I probably will get a replacement.

I would definitely get a replacement. This phone has the best LCD I've ever used on a mobile device. Colors are fantastic, whites are white, any there's absolutely no light bleed. It sounds to me like you have a defective unit.

I know it does. The screen on my last one was fantastic. I may call support next week and try and get a replacement. I do expect some hassle, though.

Camera pink purple tint on pictures and videos

Just found out that the pictures have a purple tint on it. Mostly visible on black.
Can someone test their camera if it has the same issue. Maybe I have faulty device.
Has this always been there or has it recently started?
Edit: what I mean is that has the purple tint recently appeared, or was the first picture you ever took had this purple tint.
I checked some photo's taken when I just bought the phone and the tint is there.

Tried several camera apps already, still the same.
It's not always that purple like my photo in the opening post, but there is always some white, light pink tint in the center of the pictures. And only visible on dark subjects.

No, but I will. I just have been on these forums for forever. And I know my cells...lol.
I hope someone else can also do a camera test. Otherwise I have to go through the hassle of buying another device to do a test myself. Really liking this device, so I want to keep it.

Nope, mine seems ok.
Does it feels hot around the camera? The HTC M7 had purple tint sometimes after a long use.
I think you should contact Honor

It does feel hot. But I don't think that's it, because it is like this from cold start.

We're terribly sorry to hear that your pictures are having a purple tint. We advise that you shut off your device for 15-20 seconds. This should refresh your phone and your camera app. If that doesn't work, we advise giving our Honor Support Team a call at 1-844-524-6667 for further troubleshooting steps. (ED)
It's a hardware issue, return it and claim a replacement
I will see what I can do.
So is it a hw issue or software?!

Hope it's a software issue....if not, more than likely there will be other bugs. I would definitely bring it back and have them exchange it. There never should be purple tints on pics on a new device.

Normally, it should be a software issue, but if it persists even with a factory reset, then I'll consider bringing it back

Question over Dark Theme.

When I apply it on my OP6
Every thing becomes dark as usual.
But when you go to places like
1. Settings - Apps - App permissions
Or
2. Settings - About Phone - status
There the screen is light themed/white background despite having a dark theme on.
Is it in your mobiles as well.
Also, the Shelf also remains with white background.
Help plz

Same thing on mine. They just didn't fully theme it I think. They must have missed some sub-menus.
u are correct, mine does the same, it also does on my 5T as well so its just something that was not themed

I am sure software was different then from now.
Anyways.... What did you do? Updates, flashed? What are you running? Anything useful other than "it doesn't work"?
