Nexus 5 Motherboard dead - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Nexus 5's motherboard got dead . I cant RMA it as i bought it from USA , also the guys at service center are saying they dont even have the motherboard parts yet . Seems like my N5 will just be a paper weight now !
Is there anyway i can send it back to US and claim im warranty there ? My relatives stay there who brought this phone to me in India .

They are in US and i will be sending that from India , I think they have the bill in US so It wont be a problem right ?
Also how will it cost me to ship the device ?

Service center has said so ..!! Also it has dead pixels

my rooted nexus 5 lollipop is not switching on
it was marshmallow on my nexus 5 . then i downgraded it to lollipop . it worked for a day . and i kept my phone charge while i sleeping , next day morning i was shocked that i didn't ring for alarm and it not switching on . initially i thought that it's just a software problem , i thought i could flash again it . but unfortunately i couldn't flash any files on it . every one is saying your mother board is stopped working . i don't know what to do . please help me guys

Do you have access to windows computer? Don't press any button and connect it to your computer. Does anything appear in device manager?

hi bro . i connected to my windows pc . it's showing as portable devices ( mtp usb devices ) in devices manager . what to do next ? bro just give me you fb account or whats up number so that i can ask you directly there ?

its showing in devices and printers as unspecified device

Sorry, I don't use Facebook or WhatsApp.
Was the phone connected to a charger when it died?
Do you see any lights when you connect the phone to a charger?
Have you tried leaving the charger connected for a couple of hours?
Could be a dead battery too.

dude this is seriously not cool.you should have seen this while buying this phone.still nothing is lost just go where u bought ur phone or to some sam service centre and ask them to either change or repair this.
flash yor phone again with basic rom...wipe cache factory reset go to samsung service and say what are you selling....and ask them a new one go to samsung community site at getsatisfaction.com complain there from there contact the samsung person call him and say that you want a new phone..

Help NS wont boot/ no charging icon/ no google icon

so my nexus is stock, but unlocked.
i cherged my nexus today an i read on a thread that to calibrate the battery it should be plugged at 100% and then u should turn it off then on and while it boots u should take out the battery. i did it. and now it doesnt boot, not even in fastboot.
some help?
Who said to pull out the battery while booting? It's a dangerous action you may brick your phone. Add I know a lot Chinese users of Nexus S had done this accidentally. Like rebooting without the battery cover when the battery fell off.
And unfortunately I didn't see anyone made their phone back, yet.
Anyway you can search for some threads for saving bricked phone.

Not exactly you can saved it. I find a thread on Chinese forum says use Ubuntu to unbrick a bricked ns. I think the thread actually comes from xda. Try to search here you can find it. Sorry I'm on my phone now can't do a search. All the best.

i know about that, its called adam tool. but that tool is useless if your screen doesnt even light up. i tried the tool and it didnt worked

you cannot fix a dead boot with any software/USB connection to a PC. A bricked/Dead boot can only be fixed by having a certain hardware called JTAG/RIFF. Check this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iejfuW7XcKA
its a bit high in price between 100-150$, usually repair centers have it and charge 50$ for a fix. I suggest taking your nexus to a repair center and specifically tell them that you have a "DEAD BOOT AND NEED IT FIXED BY JTAG/RIFF"

i used my warranty in a local store XD
i went there and said that i turned off the phone over night and in the morning he didnt wanted to turn on. they said it was a normal issue. LMAO

SP2 - Pen died??

Hey there.
I bought a Surface 2 Pro 128gb last week. Today I encounter a "big" problem: neither the touch or movement of my pen are not recognized anymore.
I've already tried to uninstall the second USB INPUT DEVICE under HUMAN INTERFACE DEVICES in the Device Manager and it did not solve.
Did that happen with anyone of you guys??? Any ideas??

Have you tried the refresh?
Also somewhat obvious and I assume you have tried but best to cover anyway, you havent simply had the tip fall out of the pen have you?
Otherwise it might be time for an RMA.

i've already tried the refresh too .. I've tested the pen on another device (galaxy note) and it worked well ..
.. i guess the digitizer is dead somehow ..

If the digitizer is dead then you should be able to get the device replaced under warranty.

Not only will they replace it under warranty, but when I took my SP1 with a dead digitizer into a Microsoft store they let me pay the $200 difference and get a SP2 as a replacement.

Are you jokeing? O_O My rear camera is dead, but i need my SF for work, so i didn't consider sending it back so far (as i don't really need the cam anyways)...
Anoter problem is: i didn't buy my SF in a MS-store... Do you think i can get this offered at the online store? (as there is no Microsoft store in my country atm...)
Maybe i'll give them a call tomorrow i'll let you guys know what they said

Acer Predator 8 Hardbricked (hardware issue)

Yesterday i was trying out an adapter for the headphone port and it shutdown when i did it, now it has no response to chargers or anything (but it does make a sound when it starts charging, in motherboard.. not actual tablet speakers), ive tried opening it up and disconnecting battery and reconnecting but it still doesnt work, what should i do? im desperate

Huawei repairs Phones, even if Bootloader is unlocked. Try sending it in. Mauybe works.

my tablet was bought in a store that is in another country, the store exists in the country im in, but it doesnt have this tablet on their inventory.. its only avaible on germany, switzerland etc so i cant send it and pay fees to go and come back, i would pay more for that that buying a new one

Yes, i know. Most of the time they repair it even if its rooted. Like huawei did, and saturn did too. On my friends phone it was rooted and Samsung repaired it!

but the shop is too far, im in portugal, the shop exist here but doesnt have the tablet, it only sells on germany/switzerland...

Yes! https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/system-information Try if you have warrenty. If yes you have a 99.9% chance, if no you hava a 75% chance.

- Fix it yourself (Oh boy)
- Pay for an repair service ( On hard bricked devices the mainboard is broken)
I would say fixing it yourself costs arround 75€. Let someone else fix it maybe 100€, so think about it... Im sorry for you. I bricked my phone last week too.

i already open it up, my guess is that theres something that makes the motherboard not start, i hope its just something that got disconected, if not ill just buy a laptop(with touchscreen), and dualboot with android, more simple and better

Yes. (Or buy a Shield! It has enough custom roms, has all sort of Twrp versions, has great preformance and stock is always uptodate!
Btw you remember when i said i was working on Lineage? I can tell you one thing: I booted to android 6! Well, i used others work, but hey! (For everyone reading it, no i am not going to relase it in the near future.)

Theres a bug on the websit! Mine was ovrr too, but in the Acer Care app, it was still covered! I bought the tablet before you, so youre lucky!

I've seen on a post (and in a article) that nokia 7 plus has problems with USB C port.
Has any of you encountered the issue?
I am trying to buy a new phone and that's why i ask.

I'm on the 2nd unit after the 1st one usb port failed. so far so good, but we never know...

Yes i had it. I didn't get a replacement as the usb port is not attached to motherboard. So the nokia care just changed my usb port in an hour.. so far so good. N yes it was so irritating that the usb port got loose bcz of no reason. But still the service is good of nokia.. so no complaint so far
Well, I had a N7p that came with issues in the headphone jack, so I gave it for replacement. The 2nd unit came, but after 2 months there was a weird problem. The default cable when plugged one side will not charge whereas if plugged the other side it will charge. Then after service so far new issues, but who knows.
And don't go with this phone if you're too reliant on your WiFi. Too many WiFi bugs in the latest security update.

wow, hour ah my mobile also same issue but Nokia care replied it will take 20 days to replace, let me know which location you repaired

Where r u from? Actually one of my colleagues are experiencing the same problem. The other side of the port won't charge and we need to twist the cable so we can start charging. I'm afraid to send my phone to the care center since it'll take 3-4 weeks to be repaired and i have no spare phone to use haha.

This is getting some kind of a serious issue. It's really hard to connect the phone in the PC because of this lol. I will go to the seller on weekend and i will ask for some replacement. Thanks~
