Multitouch flicker when releasing one input while holding two. - HTC One S

Hello.
Recently I've run into an annoying problem with my One S (S4) that I could use some help with. Basically, when while holding two fingers on the screen (two inputs) I release one, the other one "flickers" - turns on and off as you drag the finger across. It stops "flickering" after a mix of certain amount of time and movement on the screen and goes back to normal. Also it appears that while the phone is plugged, after initiating the bug it doesn't stop "flickering" until you stop charging.
The problem was tested in a multitouch tester, various games and the desktop screen (when swiping left/right after initiating the bug).
The phone was rooted recently and flashed to MIUI v5 downloaded from the official MIUI website.
I can't tell when exactly the issue came up, but rooting and flashing the phone might have been the culprit. The first time I noticed it was recently, when I tried to use the on-screen joystick controls for a PS1 emulator (FPse) which were practically unusable.
I'm looking for ways to fix this problem. Do you guys have any idea?

Did you disable the lockscreen? Try turning it back on if it's disabled.

I'm fairly sure there is no way to disable the lock screen on MIUI v5 without using an app. Even if, why would that be relevant?
The problem exists everywhere, not only on the lock screen.

It's a problem on the one s as well as the one x. Don't ask me why, but I kept having problems with multi touch and found that enabling the lockscreen fixed it. Look it up yourself if you don't believe me.

Apparently it's a jelly bean sense problem. Good luck finding a fix.

[Q] touch screen malfunction

hi,
I'm not sure when exactly this issue started on my phone, but I updated my touch pro with the chevron updater and have quite a lot of apps installed.
after several seconds workling with the phone, the touch screen stops working while the phone acts perfectly normal. I can use the keyboard and tilt the phone but I cannot use the touch screen anymore.
By turning the phone off and on it works again.
has anyone experienced a behavior like this?
I noticed my touchscreen becoming unresponsive when loading particular websites. Even had it freeze once (only time it ever froze on me)
What were you doing when it does this? Do you have the multitasking reg edit on?

I know this is an old thread but this is the only reference to the exact same problem that I'm having. I'm having difficulty putting this down to hardware as the screen becomes responsive again when locking and unlocking which might point to software.
It could be a hardware issue that is resolved by locking then unlocking the phone but I don't know enough about the construction of it to have an opinion.
The advice I've had from htc is to wipe the 'phone and start again but I don't expect that to solve it (especially as their call handling system refers to Window Mobile 7 - the second large commercial organisation I've seen that on in recent weeks without looking too hard!).
Has anyone else seen this since the original post or @exilkubaner was a solution found to your problem?
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem. I hard reset my HTC 7 Pro, but no success, my screen doesn't respond until i lock/unlock the device.
So, any one have resolved this issue since the first post ?
Regards
Had the same issue, but I didn't have any roms installed.
Brought it in to Sprint and they found that I had a fried ribbon connecting the screen to the phone. Replaced under warranty.
It happened again, I determined that it was caused by my click in belt clip/holster. When I pull the phone out, it pulls the screen away from the keyboard a bit.
^Wow. Nice find. I'll have to be careful with mine now as I could easily run in to the same problem pulling it out like that.

Sensation XE ICS Lockscreen/Camera

HI,
I got the XE with ICS official OTA.
Everything was fine, but I got the problem that sometimes when I unlock the lockscreen the Phone starts the Cameramode, even if I don't pull camera into the ring. Does somebody else has the problem?
I made a hardreset(after installing ICS I didn't) but the problem isn't solved. It just happens sometimes, not always...
greatz
no camera from lockscreen
Hi, sorry to boot be able to answer your question, but I thought it prudent to mention I'm having the opposite problem. My camera will not launch from the lockscreen, the shortcut from the dock still works fine (and I've tried replacing it) no idea why it's happening. Using stock camera app, sensation XE, running OTA ICS 4.0.3 and sense 3.6

I am having exactly this problem with my HTC Sensation. I upgraded 2 days ago from O2 release and now from the lock screen the camera will not start when I drag it into the lock ring. I only get the desktop. Every other icon works fine, phone, mail, text, or even a folder icon with items inside.
Anyone know why the camera won't work from the lock screen any more?
Thanks
Az

Very strange, now the camera is working and I've changed nothing. It even launches the camera if you have a password switched on, which is what we want :-D
Happy days with ICS so far, including 'Face Unlocking'.
Az
I just found out why this is... It only seems to happen with face unlock... I reckon it'll have something to do with the fact that the camera app bypasses the security for faster shooting, but either something is wrong with the face unlock coding, the camera is just trying to do 2 things at once, but either way, I'd like to see HTC offer a fix as I like face unlock and Always have really important stuff I have to photograph instantly =P

Touchscreen issue (bad grounding)

When I put the device on to any insulating surface such as pillow/bed/couch/table I cannot normally operate it. Touch is being interrupted very frequently. This means in practice that I unintentionally press links while sliding through web pages, it is impossible to organize icons (since icon is dropped quickly), pinch-zoom is difficult, unlocking the device is hard, when text-typing it often doubles the letters etc.
Problems goes away as soon as I plug the charger, or take the device in my hand. This looks to me like a grounding issue, which was annoyingly present in some of OnePlus One and Nexus 7 devices in the past. Desperate users were hoping for a software update to solve the issue but it never came out.
Is anyone else experiencing similar problems with Mi 4c? I also tried flashing different MIUI versions, nothing helped.
Here is a video demonstrating the issue (you can enter hardware test menu by calling *#*#64663#*#* and try it by yourself):
I tested, mine is ok
I never really use my phone that way but out of curiosity, I tested it. Can confirm, issue is there. Touch screen goes crazy when scrolling facebook posts, chrome browser, possibly anywhere until I lift the phone up.
Just noticed that I needed to tap and scroll up/down harder than I used to otherwise I would miss it and the scroll would stop halfway through and will tap on whatever it is on the screen when it stopped.
Basically when I don't tap hard enough when doing the scrolling gesture, that's the time that the touchscreen goes crazy
works proper at my mi4c
I had the exact same problem. It is a defective screen. The problem started appear for me after 3 days of use, so I returned it to the store for an immediate exchange. I am not sure if you are in China or not, but if you are, you can just walk into the store and get a new one on the spot.
for me works perfect
Works ok on mine
Works fine here...
I can't even get the touch test started, running cm12.1, dailing *#*#*2664#*#*does nothing, as well as no other I've tried tested

Try it with some app. For a single-touch this one is just fine: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tsaysoft.touchtest
It draws a continous line and if you lift a finger (or if you have faulty screen) the line disappears.
To test a multitouch function you can play with: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.the511plus.MultiTouchTester

Mine is working as expected as well
found solution(the grounding problem is still a thing but this makes it less of an ass)
1) root the phone or just use the developer rom from xiaomi
2)then install Pimp my Rom from google play and grand root
3)go to tweaks-> touch-screen & display-> multi touch amount
and put it on 5.
Hello,
Yes. As a proud owner of one (unfortunately defunct cause I dropped) nexus 7 2013 I can confirm that the behavior is the same... Definitely a grounding problem.
When you leave the phone on a pillow or couch without holding it,bthe screen response is erratic. When you hold it or attach charger.. No problem.
Still beautiful device (the 4c), especially for the price. Snappy.
And smiu is very good made. (not a fan of miui roms...)
This happens only on 16gb version? What about using a plastic case? Does it solve the issue?

[HELP] Partially Blank Screen but otherwise active device OR Sleep of Death

Hello everybody,
I've got a problem with a Oneplus One.
First a brief history of the device. I got it on ebay with a shattered display about 1 1/2 years ago and replaced the display. Since then my girlfriend managed to shatter the display 3 times more. So I'm quite used to replace the display on this device.
Since the last display replacement (the 4th) the device developed a partial Screen-of-Death problematic.
Sometimes the display just stays blank, while the backlight is clearly working (you can see the blueish light in dark environments). Also the device reacts to touch and button inputs, like e.g. double-tap-power to start camera. Or double-tap-screen to wake up (you can feel the vibration or display input sounds).
I "just" have to wait about 10-20 seconds, try again and the display turns on without any problems. In other cases I have to try this a couple of times to wake the screen.
A hard reset is not necessary, the device will wake up sooner or later. In this aspect it differs from all SoD descriptions I found online!
An other strange thing is, after the screen replacement the device forgot all wifi networks. The wpa_supplicant.conf was empty. Strangely enough all other apps were OK, I didn't noticed any irregular acting applications.
As the device was sill running on CM13 I decided to give it a fresh nougat installation and assumed the SoD symptomatic would vanish.
Now after flashing back and forth different factory images and custom-rom's the SoD is still there and renders the device almost unusable.
I tried the latest CM13 snapshot and sultans CM13, which I have been using on another OPO without problems for a long time.
I also tried to install different original factory images.
cm-13.1.2-ZNH2KAS3P0-bacon-signed-fastboot_64GB.zip
and also another one I got long time ago from Oneplus to fix an annoying Wifi-Reboot-Problem. It contained additional image files like persist.img and reserve4.img.
I tried to turn on and off the setting for the proximity sensor that could interfere with the activation of the screen.
I tried different radio firmware's, as I could remember that there had been some problems in the past with incompatible firmwares, android versions and the proximity sensor.
I enabled and disabled all off-screen-gestures, although they are always working regardless if the display stays blank or not.
Unfortunately I've got no luck.
Literally every single android version I tried suffered from SoD. The only problem free thing is TWRP. Running the latest 3.1.1-0 I never got a blank/black screen on powering up the display.
So now I'm out of ideas and would be happy to hear any additional guesses to fix this problem.
I was also wondering if anybody knows more about the SoD. I couldn't find any information's regarding the causes of this problem. Is it hardware related or software?
thanks!
p.s. another strange thing I noticed now on the latest Slim7 rom (20170526). If I try to take a screenshot with power+vol-down, the screenshot animation happens. But a status bar notification from Android-System tells me, there is not enough free space to save the screenshot. But there is at least 40GB of free space.
I'm not sure if this is related to my problem or just to Slim7. And I'm also a little tired to reflash the device just to test this issue...
Maybe there is a problem with permissions or the flash memory?
p.p.s here a logcat. I couldn't find anything helpful.. https://pastebin.com/UWfwc1VX
Hello,
can anybody recommend an alternative kernel (for SLIM 7 rom), that allows me to increase the minimum CPU frequency.
I remember by doing that on a HP touchpad, I could avoid SoD.
Thanks!

Google daydream

Now Samsung s8 is started to support daydream you guys need to buy daydream headset to use daydream it will not work with oculus handset.
I bought it. All the apps seem to crash after some while , some not even opening too. I really like Daydream when it works but more often it doesn't. I dont thing the apps are updated yet to supports the s8 hardware.
maybe samsung will fix those bugs in the upcoming updates

Yep I also just got it. It's basically unusable. No apps run longer than a few minutes. Do you also find that the tracking gets off (IE head movements become jerky on screen)?
Had a frustrating time with Daydream with constant crashes and the phone freezing up.. Perhaps it is not optimised for Exynos yet?

I found a fix for my s8, it was the nfc chip in the daydream causing issues, so I folded over some aluminium foil a few times and placed that between the back of the phone and the daydream. You need to flip the phone from portait to landscape and it will start daydream, I sometimes need to do it a few times to get started but once going is perfect. Let me know if it works.
I use Gear VR with Daydream in Developer mode
S8+ and new daydream
I own the S8+ with newest build (not rooted). Today I got Google daydream and after searching google for an answer for my problem without finding anything simular problem I now hope you have some ideas.
After charging the controller there were no problems with pairing it with the S8+.
The only problem is: the app "daydream" itself does not start any setup and does not show any menu in the screen. At first it shows the logo, then the logo and the text samsung. In the background is a landscape moving in all the directions I hold the smartphone. Nowhere a menu or setup.
I already use the latest Google-VR-services (I think).
NFC is activated. After I put the S8+ in the daydream my smartphone says (I translate from German): "setup required. You first have to complete the daydream-setup before you can use VR-functions".
Do the Google-apps need the rights to use "contacts"? Because I disallowed them in the past. Is it perhaps another rights-issue?
Any ideas? Is this problem known and which words I have to search in Google to find a solution?
---------- Post added at 12:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:51 PM ----------
I dared and gave it rights to use contacts. It worked. It is such a shame that to rightsmanagement of some apps need the rights for contacts to use the google-account-connection...
So: solved. Sorry for the inconvinience.
Didn't the aluminum foil scratch up the glass on the back of the phone?
---------- Post added at 10:59 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:56 AM ----------
Didn't the foil ruin the back of your phone?
Mine works without daydream vr headset..
Just seatch for Google how to use daydream without vr headset.
