I don't know about the YB app but Weatherbug elite works just fine on my CM7 RC4 which is a GB rom.
It doesn't even show up in the market for me nor does yellowbook. Running EVOZone CM Nightly #37.
since more than 2 years nothing was posted I'd like to use this thread for finding apps that aren't working on GB for Lt18i (SE Arc S)

I understand your concern.
I just want members specially jader to choose the right path for future development.
I wont be posting on this issue on that thread anymore though.
We can't have all the newest of apps in GB. That's true. But, we also need to understand that our devices don't have to capability to run those apps without bugs.
I am willing to compromise on the newest features if the apps that we use are reliable and bugfree.
It's better to have a solid app that can do 2 things reliably, rather than the latest app that can do 3 things unreliably or with bugs.

Will reflash tomorrow

That's fine. But, it would be better if you also share the alternatives for them. Like chrome have mozilla, opera, maxathon etc as better alternatives.
Greenify effect can be replicated in a better way by using rom toolbox and lucky patcher.
Also, I would like to mention here that ' adreno booster' tweak only works on GB and nothing else. And it does improve the performance and speed.

So, have you installed jin2gb rom?
Sent from my MK16i
yeah, on j2gb now, instead of Apex I got me Golauncher, Greenify: not entirely sure I need something similar, so didn't look for an alternative yet.
ok, due to several mistakes on my side, had to reflash it twice, now let's see how the batt. holds up, other that (if a there's a difference in batt. usage) I don't see (except for booting, but since I only do that once in 2 days, not affected by it) any speed increase. Testing right now, but I don't see the LED working not even with "test" in lightmanager, willl report on that and batt. later
oow yeah, using Atomic 8 now
any idea what could be causing the LED malfunction? Quite annoying cause I use it alot

Have you gotten over testing jin2gb ROM as well?
One thing I would like you to do is to flash the Xperia S launcher that is provided as addon in Atomic GB7 in GIN2GB ROM. I am using it right now and it have a lot of features with a very small memory footprint compared to other similar launcher!
Do you mean copying home.apk from atomic7 to j2gb?

I'd pretty much rather use anything other than Xperia Home, but my main is launcherpro.
It's weird... LauncherPro's damn near abandoned, yet it's still more stable, smooth and battery/resource-efficient than everything normally receiving updates.
...even though I use LP, I notice Xperia Home likes to pop up every now and then just to suck up 15-30MB of my memory. Am I gonna end up causing myself sheer hell if I just rip it outta the system/app folder?

~None at all! The first time I did this I forogt to set permissions for my launcher since I wanted it to be a system app and still managed to install go launcher via the android market(now google play )
Glad to hear! I quickly wiped it out, rebooted... and thing aren't showing any negative signs
I may even go ahead and wipe out all those obnoxious Xperia Home-only widgets.
Actualy, LP's stability and smoothness is why I stopped using it, it was terrible compared to what I use now. But hey if it works for you! Tbh I wouldn't mind seeing it updated
Can I get a guide on how to make the go launcher and locker load up instead of the normal one?
Like what to backup and where to move it, crud like that.
I've got the ics theme on.both the launcher and the locker for the GO apps.

You can just install go launcher and go locker from the market,
press the home button and choose to always load go launcher.
(and delete the xperia home.apk if you feel like it, for instructions look in my sig, it's the same for GB)
Install go locker, set it up and it just should work right away
You can't realy change lockscreens because part of it is in the sony framework,
all a third party lockscreen app does is sometimes disable the stock lockscreen.
Or you can just 'freeze' it instead of you don't want to delete it

How is ics holding up for you? Is the battery life any better than in gb or froyo? Are benchmarks reporting better results? Are there any new features that you like? Is rhe phone behaving smoother and snappier? How good is the ram management?
There are a lot of us who, for various reasons, still havent tried ics, so we need you guys to tell us what to expect. Thanks in advance

Noone? Really? Come on guys don't be lazy.
ICS is one of the smoothest for P920. LG did a really good job with this even though this was a beta and not even for our phone. Everything improves with additional features from ICS except battery life which decreased significantly in my case of ICS.
The look and feel is new and with the new animations everything became fun for a phone i once referred to as a "mistake in my part." Dragging out the notifications really helps because you had to heed them for it to go away. Added power widget feature Wi-fi hotspot. You can share your mobile internet with this baby but consumes a lot of your battery...
All in all a great upgrade but you need a spare battery at all times to fully use the phone without having to worry about the battery.
Hope I Helped...
Cheers!

I'm using Ferakernel-Feravlot ICS 4.0.9. What i noticed ia follows:
1. Fantastic Battery Life in 2G and good life in 3g
2. RAM Management is good.
3. Phone is quite smooth
4. Features are good.
But the following are the disadvantages:
1. Automatic Brightness is not working
2. Video recording is not working.
3. Data Usage is not useful.
4. Battery Usage is not fully useful.
5. When call comes, the ringtone is not clear. The ringtone is breaking.
6. USB-Tethering is not working.
7. Every time contacts are synchronized with the server resulting in redundancy of contacts.
8. Unable to select Multiple contact for deletion.
(Sorry for poor English, typed in hurry).
How to improve this, following are the solutions: (Consider Sony Xperia x10i)
1.Android 1.6 UI is the best UI since today. (Phone book, timescape, backgrounds are excellent). So keep this UI and update the back end performance.
2. Automatic brightness,Battery Usage are available there, so no need to worry about it.
3. Add USB-tethering and data usage to the settings.
4. Launcher is good and so no need to worry about.
5. Just change the android framework 10 4.1 and keep all UI interface and above points same as Android 1.6.
If you release with above said points, your OS is best of all.
Man, this is the Optimus 3D section, not the x10i.
noway your the only one. i have 35% drain overnight 2g, data off.

Battery consumption reduced
Home.apk quite smooth
Many new options in the notification bar, app drawer and home screen.
Pointer is more accurate
Widgets are less
Keyboard and web-browser is extremely laggy! It opens pages quickly but takes ages to respond to a button.
No guaranteed method for root, you also have to flash a recovery.img and cwm/twrp manually, which makes the risk of brick very high, and even if there is a fix guide, there will always be an issue that some people have and isn't mentioned in the guide.
Bottom line, if you want a good ics experience, you're in for a lot of work :I in comparison to GB

If you do some reading (reading .. not joking) rooting it is a piece of cake.
And if you do a little more reading about how to use fastboot flash you won't even need to root the original ICS ROM.
Its all about reading (and understanding).
Right now there are some very good ROMS from various developers (lag free) and KERNELS that give us over 10.000 points in Antutu.
About CWM or TWRP if you don't know how to flash it you can always use Milaqs Recovery installer which uses 2nd init procedure (or if you like you can use both recovery methods like I do, 2nd unit and partition).
If you don't understand anything that I say you should stay in Gingerbread.
Apart from that you can always try CM10 which is easier.

Then you'll have a problem with the Cosmo drivers (surprise surprise) <-- that WASN'T mentioned in the book, you read everywhere until you find help, still if you know nothing about modding or developing you're likely to make little mistakes and you don't know how :I like if you were a mod you'd say "oh I forgot to tick this option on" normal user would keep trying until they brick their phone *-* now you're problem is doubled. all my knowledg is about "what worked and what didn't work" like who knew using WKPARK's method and rooting are just the same or in what regards?
Try on your own risk I know, but still no guide mentions everything so you might be deluded, the risk usually comes from there not from missing a step
Sent from my LG-SU760 using xda app-developers app
Yes guides can't cover everything and this is XDA-Developers not LG Support.
Apart from that there is no "true" risk anymore with P920/SU760 devices because they can get unbricked unless their hardware is physically damaged and this can't happen by ROM's.
Once again patience and reading will make your phone return back to normal but if somebody is new in XDA or doesn't know or can't understad the basics he better stay with official Gingerbread.

Guides are prepared for the exact same situation that the creator was in. So in turn guide prepares you to be in the same situation to make the guide work.

All of that, when it is more noticeable is when I press the home button to get to the homescreen (it almost takes 10 seconds to show all aps) If I happen to be able to take a screenshot, I will post it here.

People please, hold your horses. He's referring to the smoothness of the device as why it's not as smooth as the iPhone is. Well firstly it all comes down to the specs of your handheld device.
If you are on a popular phone or have a phone that has either Jelly Bean Or KitKat then I suggest you switch to that as it had vsync which increases the frame rate display. It makes your device run smoother than usual. If you're on a low end phone a then there isn't much you can do unless you clean up your phone a bit.

use custom rom like MIUI ROM.,
before any suggestions on how to speed up your phone or make it smoother can be answered, we need to know which phone you have ie: make, model, year, android version etc.
i say this from experience, until very recently my phone no one was supporting my phone for custom roms, no working cwm even, and still no custom kernels so to get a proper answer that will really help we need your phone details bud.
