[Q] Since we have an S800 chip.. - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone tried using this to boost battery life? What are your reviews/comments about it?

I used it on my S2 and it really helped. I don't see a need for it on my N5 since i get 17 hours of juice. I may use again if I notice a drop.

Dramatic increase or not? I'm not really a power user but using this along with Franco Kernel might really help no?

I just installed it. I'm totally stock and battery life is amazing for me. But I'll give it a try anyways

Sounds interesting as its by qualcomm themselves but I have reservations.

Yeah, but it won't hurt to try yes? Stumbled upon it by chance, and since we are s800 chipped smartphones, trying it out won't be that bad.
Also if someone is already using this, can someone post a screenshot before and after using the app? thanks!

Yeah I'm trying it.

Thanks! Hope it can be some sort of a remedy at least to some battery problems.

I'll be honest, my battery is great anyway

This app sounds too good to be true. I don't see how it could do anything about SOT, which is my big problem. But I guess it would be interesting to test, with all its pseudo-AI learning and adapting and whatnot.

Other than altering brightness,.the only way to increase SoT is to reduce everything else not screen related

True. Ah, if only one were able to switch out the battery. When I had my Note II, I carried a couple of spares in my pocket and never had to worry about all this rigmarole. It was great.

Used this on my Xplay, dident do anything as I already used greenify... they work similarly!
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app

Oh god not this app again. This will actually increase battery drain, very dramatically too. Check the reviews on Play and xda.

The thing is that it needs location services permanently. Of course, you can choose the option which doesn't locate that accurate but I guess it still drains battery significantly.
I rather do all the stuff manually. Turning off WiFi when leaving the house, only using Bluetooth when I'm in my car (audio stream) and so on

Sky go and root?

Just added this to my subscription so that I could use it on my nexus to find it will not work on my rooted device.
I only rooted to install a volume mod (which i would like to keep) but not that bothered about ROMs etc.
Anyway to get this working while keeping root?
Can I remove root but keep my volume mod on there now its installed?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks

There are threads about this all over the place. Using search at the top level will probably yield more results

Tried searching from the mobile app and not finding anything...
If its been talked about a lot then I guess the answer should be simple, which is.........?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I believe the answer is no, but you'd have to look into it further.
Edit: Yep, using "Search all open forums" for "Sky go root" hundreds of threads found.

Thank you
Found some when I searched again and filtered the search to specific 'sky go'
There should be some kind of mention on this when you go to install the app, or better still not let you install it if your rooted. I think its crafty they do that and then have you pay for the extra feature you can't use!
Going to have to ring them and get it cancelled as don't want to loose the volume mod.

Its a ridiculous thing to block root for anyway!

I own the 32gb version but I'd say around 12.5gb. I think that's about what my Nexus 4 had.

16gb isn't that bad unless you download a ton of data, music, videos, etc. I never maxed out on my N4 although I was like 2gb-3gb away from it.
Do you use a lot of data? If so you also have the option of using a storage cloud (which I find somewhat inconvenient).

I use around 6-7 gb of music and 1 gb of development stuff (like roms mods etc). I think 16 is enough but I need to sure because this will be my phone for at least 2 years
So that'll leave you with around 4-5gb. More than likely I'm willing to bet that you won't keep this phone for the full 2 years. Every time I get a phone I say the same thing but it never happens. The most I ever lasted with 1 particular phone was probably 10 months to a year. I think you'll be fine on 16gb or check eBay or some other site to see if you can get the 32gb version. I'm pretty sure there's a way to do so. Or even check the Marketplace section of XDA and see if there's a respected member that's willing to ship the phone to you granted you cover the shipping cost.

The US version will have LTE problems here and every 32 gb version I saw is way overpriced.
I have that problem right now with my Desire X but the N5 will stand longer at least
I had no idea it'll face LTE issues. Good luck on that though.

USABLE space for the user is:
26.7 GB for the 32 GB
12.55 GB for the 16 GB
Not an answer to the direct question but i have the 32g and also use a micro USB drive .

You can use Micro USB drive with Stickmount free and any file explorer, although root access is a bonus as sometimes stickmoutn doesn't give write permissions to the drive.
Also there are custom kernels that allow OTG mounting without stickmount.
