Sky go and root? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just added this to my subscription so that I could use it on my nexus to find it will not work on my rooted device.
I only rooted to install a volume mod (which i would like to keep) but not that bothered about ROMs etc.
Anyway to get this working while keeping root?
Can I remove root but keep my volume mod on there now its installed?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks

There are threads about this all over the place. Using search at the top level will probably yield more results

Tried searching from the mobile app and not finding anything...
If its been talked about a lot then I guess the answer should be simple, which is.........?

I believe the answer is no, but you'd have to look into it further.
Edit: Yep, using "Search all open forums" for "Sky go root" hundreds of threads found.

Thank you
Found some when I searched again and filtered the search to specific 'sky go'
There should be some kind of mention on this when you go to install the app, or better still not let you install it if your rooted. I think its crafty they do that and then have you pay for the extra feature you can't use!
Going to have to ring them and get it cancelled as don't want to loose the volume mod.

Its a ridiculous thing to block root for anyway!

Tapatalk forum to App

Hello! Recently a forum in which I'm admin applied the Tapatalk forum, so I can enjoy it in my droid happily. But I still want that nice app icon on my screen, without having to walk all the way through Tapatalk icon > Favorites > Myforum.
How do you turn your forum into an app, for direct access?? Thanks a bunch!
There's the XDA app on the market. You'll have direct access to the forum.

I already know that! What I want is to make my own app to my own forum.
I'm already a user of th XDA forum app.

When a forum admin is agressive with people that try to help him that definitely is no good sign for the future of his own forum. Good luck!
Lol no intention to be agressive, instead I think you're a bit sensitive.

(Tutorial) How to use the search feature on XDA

I have been seeing a recent trend lately so I thought this may help.
How to Search XDA Forms
If you are a noob, or if you just have a general question and you are feeling a little too lazy to read through other forms then this is what you do before you start a new thread about your problem.
(99% of the time your problem has already been talked about)
XDA App Search Feature
For the XDA app go to the °more° tab and click on the little eye glass and simply type in your question or some key words of the problem you are having.
XDA-Developers Website
This may be a little more difficult but stick with me. There is a bar that says search, type in your question or key words of your question and see if you can find what you are looking for. Now for the advance users look around for a topic that you have a question about in the respected form area (I.E. development or Q&A) and search key word of your problem and search that form for your answer
Recommended method you can read the form in its entirety!
Hope this helps and it’s not meant to be rude it’s a noticeable problem.
Probably will be ignored by those who need this most but thank you for saying it.

Clearly someone who is new wont even consider a search button, but nice nice try.

Hey you never know!
Thats how most forums are, so either get used to it or dont come lol. I don't think I've ever seen a tech forum that wasn't inundated with the same question over and over.

That's not necessarily true. I came from the Evo 4g and the forums over there tended to be pretty clean with that stuff. The mods were all over the forums and older users helped the new users on how to search. I don't know what the Evo forums were like when the evo first launched but at least now there isn't much of the same BS that is running rampant over here.

Knowledge is power bro! These forms will be what we make them if we let people post non-since then we will always have that problem. I am also not dumb enough to think multiple questions will not ever happen.
i take the most issue with the app. it doesn't allow the searching of a forum or a thread... it searches ALL of xda for your terms... which is useless... you might make a few searches work, but over all what you need to a search of the forum you're viewing... i mean i could really care less about the rooting issues on a WP7 device when i'm trying to search for SGS3 info...
but over all the search on the website is stellar

While I agree worth your point, its frustrating not being able to use 'search this thread'in the app, you do know you can limit it to categories at least right? For example you could specify to search just the Verizon SG3 forums instead of all of xda.

I'm not seeing that on the free version. Once I do a search, all I can do is scroll down those search results. I can't click "More" as its occupied by the search.

If you do go to purchase it choose your color first. What I mean its if you want one of the ICS compatible colors those are separate apps. It's the same functionality you just have to buy the theme separate. But you don't need the original tapatalk to make the themes work. Make sense?
It's would be nice if the search feature was built into the application better. Is it possible to search a specific forum rather than the entire xda?

Xda app...

Dear xda,
I'm not sure if this is in the correct area, so please move to appropriate forum as needed.
I'm here to ask about the apparent lack of support for the xda premium app. I bought this app to support you guys and what you do because I believe in what you do. However the app itself had not been updated for over 8 months? This is kind of ironic given xda is about android development, yet the mobile app is not what we would expect from this great community. The reviews on the play store only confirm that the app is in serious need of an update.
I'm not bashing the app or the supporters of said app. But I am concerned that after paying for this, to help with its development we as customers have been neglected.
Please can the xda team provide a response to this query.
Many thanks.
d4c
Does the app need updating? The money from the app is to support XDA as a whole, not just to pay for development of the app.
I bought the premium app and the premium HD app just to support XDA, even though I use tapatalk too access the forums when I'm mobile.
So if you did use the xda app for the purpose it was created for you would want it to work properly? Yeah I thought so...

[Q] Since we have an S800 chip..

Anyone tried using this to boost battery life? What are your reviews/comments about it?
I used it on my S2 and it really helped. I don't see a need for it on my N5 since i get 17 hours of juice. I may use again if I notice a drop.

Dramatic increase or not? I'm not really a power user but using this along with Franco Kernel might really help no?
I just installed it. I'm totally stock and battery life is amazing for me. But I'll give it a try anyways
Sounds interesting as its by qualcomm themselves but I have reservations.

Yeah, but it won't hurt to try yes? Stumbled upon it by chance, and since we are s800 chipped smartphones, trying it out won't be that bad.
Also if someone is already using this, can someone post a screenshot before and after using the app? thanks!

This app sounds too good to be true. I don't see how it could do anything about SOT, which is my big problem. But I guess it would be interesting to test, with all its pseudo-AI learning and adapting and whatnot.

Other than altering brightness,.the only way to increase SoT is to reduce everything else not screen related

True. Ah, if only one were able to switch out the battery. When I had my Note II, I carried a couple of spares in my pocket and never had to worry about all this rigmarole. It was great.

Used this on my Xplay, dident do anything as I already used greenify... they work similarly!
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Oh god not this app again. This will actually increase battery drain, very dramatically too. Check the reviews on Play and xda.
The thing is that it needs location services permanently. Of course, you can choose the option which doesn't locate that accurate but I guess it still drains battery significantly.
I rather do all the stuff manually. Turning off WiFi when leaving the house, only using Bluetooth when I'm in my car (audio stream) and so on

XDA app and XDA legacy not showing some private messages

Hi all,
Either I'm going mental or something's amiss..
Hopefully this is in the correct place to ask about such things..
I have the XDA app ( new one ) and have just installed the legacy one to confirm.
Communications between myself and several users are not logged within inbox or sent, the sent ones are really old and the inbox ones do not represent the actual timeline of received messages.
I thought it may have been the application itself but it's consistent via the legacy app too and mobile browser which means it's across the board..
Could the point of origin the message came from the problem? I tend to usually send via my phone unless I'm at home..
Anyone else experienced this?
Have to say I haven't searched for this issue in depth but thought I'd ask for awareness all the same..
Cheers.
PS: also ..... (Unrelated) it would be lovely to be able to copy some text via the new app instead of launching within a browser..

Regarding the XDA Labs App, the following thread is the Official one for Support and guidance.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3241866
Regarding the XDA Legacy app on the Play Store, it's Deprecated and is actually a Tapatalk App that was just placed under the XDA area but, they don't support it since they don't even have the source code for it.
Good Luck!
