Hello friends.
I'm a medium level user of android.
I will tell my problem hoping you give a solution to me.
First of all, I could finally root my phone.
It's an Alcatel 4010a It's a MT6575 device.
When I tried to flash a CWM recovery IMG with Mobileuncle, the phone were stucked on Logo Brand when I tried to boot in recovery mode.
It was damaged, but It was just the recovery, 'cause when I booted normally, it did work.
I have two phones, just the same model. The other one is working fine so I made a Backup with MTKDroid Tools.
Then I processed the backup for SP Flashtool.
When I tried to flash just the recovery by selecting the scatter file generated by MTKDroid Tools. And just select recovery.
The download finished OK but after that the phone doesn't turn on. Just there a light when I try to turning it on.
So I decided to flash the completed backup ROM, but It's imposible.
When I use 2 differente versions of SP Flashtool I get 2 differents erros.
1: S_DA_UPDATE_BOOTLOADER_FILE_SIZE_EXCEEDS_BOUNDARY_ADDR (3142)
2: ERROR (8038) Pleas use FIRMWARE UPGRADE instead of download.
Woul you help with this issue?
If you need more information in order to help I will be pleased to give it to you.
Sorry about my english, I'm Salvadorean.
I have same problem with you, can you pleas upload your backup rom. i want to try to restore it to my phone.

I rooted the phone with IsujashiRoot, but it seems to cause a problem with the camera (it doesn`t works) so I decided to start again the process and I've found this program
Search in the Alcatel page of your country for the program and when you found your device tap in support (in my case I'm mexican... yeah, that's why my english actually sucks) :silly:
Anyway, I hope this works for you guys :fingers-crossed:

I succeeded to root my Star S7180
Look for
"Cwm Recovery S7100 by Angelobiz"
and flash it using the last part of this manual "MT6577 CWMR Root Updated V2"
Then you can boot into the clockwork mod and install a "su" root zip.

If it is a Star / HDC / UPAI Note 2 clone also known as a N7100+ S7100 and S7180 then there is a spanish forum which has instructions and fixed versions of the stock rom
http://www.movilesdualsim.com/foro/forums/128-N7100-S7180
there is a moderator there who has deodexed and fixed some of the problems with the stock rom
Installing and flashing CWM for this phone is not for the faint of hearted. Using the MTK flash tool and creating your own scatter flash file and even your own up to date CWM is advisable. There is a thread on here which explains how to do the flashing and creating your own CWM recovery.
Or you use the CWM by the spanish forum and their instructions
good luck!

OK, I've looked on the spanish forums and I really cant get my head around it. Ive had some rooting experience via Odin when rooting my HTC One X and Galaxy S3 but nothing like this. Anyone care to do a guide in proper English as opposed to google's translated guide? Ideally I want to gain root access and install an improved rom. The one which is installed with the phone is pretty lame.
Thanks guys, any help appreciated

Further to my last post, if this is any good I keep getting the following error when I try to flash recovery.img to the handset:
BROM ERROR : S_FT_NEED_DOWNLOAD_ALL_FAIL (4050)
Need download all images!
.................I havent a clue what the hell that means. Grr, its doing my nut in
I tried translating the spanish forum to no avail.
I also tried using the method for the NT6577 chipset, nadda.
Any help would be appreciated

Thanks for the pointers guys, I was unable to escape the bootloader!
its not a guide as such but might help in giving more pointers.
I managed to replace the existing recovery and replace it with my own generated CWM recovery.
In order to do this I followed this guide!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923764 which has a link to a tutorial
I went and installed the droid kitcen and MT6577 plugin as well in order to create my own recovery as that was my prefference. use any files of the internet at your own risk or lower the risk and DIY it!
This is curtesy of yuweng who did all the hard work writing it up.
Regarding to my phone which is classed as an S7180 or N7100+
I found this website
http://gt35pro-mobile-gadgets.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/hdc-s7100-note-2-is-now-renamed-hdc.html
He also gives out the links to which packages to download inlcuding a CWM recovery.
**************************** disclaimer *************
Don't use a scatter file that you did not create using the tools that yuweng is referencing to in his thread and tutorial!!!!!!!!!
if you use the wrong scatter file you flash the recovery into the wrong section of memory and therefore run at a HUGE risk of bricking the phone
***************************** disclaimer end *************
In essence the order I did things in
Backed up my original recovery using the Flashtool
Created my own CWM recovery using the Android Kitchen which needs the MT6577 tool and plugin installing as a mod (search XDA for the guide as to hoto do the install and yuweng also has a tutorial on how to add the MT6577 recovery generation for this)
Using MTK Droid tools to generate my own scatter file. ( a scatter file is like a memory map as to where the start and is and in this case the map for the CWM)
then using the Flash tool i flashed it using my scatter and my previously created CWM. See yuweng tutorial.
Again Gregg has provided a CWM, I can't comment on it as I never tried it.
anyway the moment i had CWM, I flashed the ROM that was on that blog page. Which came of the spanish forum originally. And they are now on version 1.2 las time I looked. 1.0 fixes a few things, i am using 1.1 as 1.2 removed the touchwiz look a like launcher and my 3D sheep widget
TIPS
* Driver installation is crucial to succesfully flashing with the FlashTool
- Switch phone off and remove the battery, then plug it in. Complete that driver install
- Re-insert battery and check without booting it you will notice that it does not have the same behaviour as with battery...very odd...still do it just in case
-boot it up and once ready put it in USB debug mode and connect usb lead and let the driver install complete
* READ THE TUTORIALS - Seriously i spent 1/2 day nonstop checking things
* Don't do this if you are not sure about what you are doing at all.
* Check your scatter file values for where the recovery is going to be flashed at least 4 times before commiting them into the flashtool. It pays to be safe!!
* Dont get freaked out by Hex values when you put them into the flashtool. if it looks wrong then check again. Only when you press the download button in the flashtool with your phone attached will it start.
stupid question
Hi ! Im following yuweng tutorial to make my own recovery ,but im stucked in starting android kitchen. Hey everyone,
After spending hours toiling through the different methods listed above (thanks to everyone for posting those), I've found a much simpler way to root the S7100, not sure about the other ones.
Go to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276
and download the Framaroot 1.6.1 .apk to you phone. Install it, and wham, rooted. Or at least thats how simple it was for me: Hope it works for anyone else trying to root.
Note: This root exploit also works on many other types of phones as the thread explains.
It doesn't install the recovery or anything, but it's certainly a start.
Specs about the phone:
Model Number: e1901_v77_jdt1_9p017_fwvga
Android Version: 4.1.2
Baseband Version: MAUI.11AMD.W12.22.SP.V15,2012/10/08 20:22
Build Number: e1901_v77_jdt1_9p017_fwvga_2013088
I bought a Mediatek android device few days back named as : Q-mobile noir i5
rooted it with framaroot.apk was working pretty well ,but then i tried to tweak buil.prop file , somehow now im always stucked in a bootloop.
I dont have CWM or any Rom available
i repeat INTERNET DONT HAVE ANY ROM OR RECOVERY FOR MY DEVICE
so is there any way to unbrick my device , im really screwed up .
secondally i would like to know a method to create a rom backup/image file to tweak without fear
Additinal info :
stock recovery, rooted by framaroot, china Mediatek device, no rom or recovery support avaialble
Im new to XDA sorry for my english and mistakes
I'm having a similar problem.....
I'm a noob so I really need some help. I have a sgs3 1747m from Canada. The phone is rooted (I followed xda CF method)
I wanted to back up the efs folder so I also followed the instructions on xda. (downloaded busybox and efs pro) Phone connects Everything says okay. The problems starts when I have to choose the device filter. I select sgs3 US - operation failed but then I thought the phone is from Canada so I tried a couple other selections all say operation failed. In addition, there are no partitions, files or folders shown for me to select to back up. Have I done something wrong?

Hello. This Alcatel Pixi 3 tablet was meant as a gift add-on to an Orange (PL) LG G4c / Spirit LTE phone.
What is really weird is that there is no such model on Alcatel's website. It seems that this version was very unpopular.
It came with Lollipop 5.0.1 onboard. On boot screen it says ALCATEL onetouch Pixi3(8). on the back there is a sticker with Model: 8070 and some other numbers, but the thing is:
I was simply being an impatient one and i wanted to have this white boy rooted so i installed newest KingRoot. And it worked!
But then I've seen there's an app that does the magic and replaces kinguser with supersu. And it was called 'SuperSU Me', kind of.
Unfortunately it must have been a very old version (i tried the newest on my phone and it comes in two stages so it's different). After using it i don't remember if I ran su binary update but i think i did and then reboot. And of course it all went wrong after that.
It was stuck at the Alcatel boot animation, repeating itself endlessly. And instead of looking for solution i did something else. I went to the bootloader mode (vol+ and power) which lets you go into recovery or fastboot and i went to recovery. Where it actually says Android system recovery <3e> with additional line saying LRX21M and options apply update from ADB, sdcard, cache and some others.
So here's what I did: at first I wiped cache partition and then I wiped data ('wipe data/factory reset'). And this is mess.
There is no Alcatel animation, no more. Now it won't go further than this boot screen and it would just display this ALCATEL onetouch Pixi3(8) logo until it runs out of battery power. So i guess, that's my first bricked device for being naughty and too greedy to have some rooted stuff happening.
Please, is there any hope? Help?
Same Problem with Alcatel Pixi 3 (10) Model:8079!!!!
You might be able to restore ROM using Mobile upgrade tool from Alcatel. Or you can flash it with phone flash tool.
Hi @dam85 I found and downloaded "Mobile Upgrade S" tool from Alcatel's server directly (v4.2.8) but I cannot make the tool detect this Pixi 8070 model. The main Alcatel site doesn't have this model, so I got their tool from the Pixi 3 (8) 3G page. However, not sure what is missing as there seems to be a driver needed for the Alcatel tool to detect the table. Any idea? This 8070 model apparently uses quad-core MediaTek MT8127 processor.
I have purchased this device from a local shop, not via operator. Model is "TCL" and "8070" in the menus.
@Bethain: I had a friend who had to wipe and re-install the ROM on an Alcatel D5 phone, due to some boot loop like yours; and he was able to do that using the Alcatel Upgrade tool. Please try this and let us know how you did it and more importantly, which drivers you used on Windows! Thanks and good luck.

It's true that this model is buried for some weird reason. You can't find anything specific for this model (pixi 3 (8) wifi), only for the 3g edition that is totally different hardware if I remember correctly.
I can suggest another option. I've managed to read back the stock rom from mine. I could send it to you and you can try to flash it with SP flash tool. If you're interested, pm me and I'll guide you.
Hi @dam85 thank you for posting back, it's great to hear that someone managed to work on this.
For the sake of information with others, can you kindly share info on the tools, versions (and if not asking too much, links here in XDA) that you used to extract the ROM? There's tonns of crap on the internet and some confusing driver versions found here, too...
I was battling with MtkDroid Tools 2.5.3 but I think I've installed the wrong VCOM driver, not sure if it supports the device (MT8127 processor) or perhaps I am doing something wrong.
The official Alcatel Mobile Upgrade S (v4.2.8 that I've installed) has a generic "One Touch Pixi 8" entry as you can see in the screen shot but I get some error when trying to connect my device. This is supposed to allow a download of an image to re-flash Alcatel devices... Perhaps this tool isn't compatible, as you say.
I have contacted Alcatel asking for support....
I haven't rooted nor I want to mess with that. Just wanted to make a safe backup of the current ROM. When I entered (official) the Recovery menu of the device (POWER + VOLup) there wasn't any entry in the options to "dump" the ROM on the SD, unfortunately.

Just to make it clear. There is no way to dumb the rom with droid tools or sp flash tool without root. The most easy and safe way to root this tablet is with Kingroot v4.5. It's safe to use because there is an option for unroot inside the app (I've done it several times, it works flawlessly).
I am having the same exact issue and followed the same steps as you to get into this mess! Only difference is i am on a onetouch Pixi 7 i got from tmobile for free. Were you ever able to flash it back to stock and can you tell me how you did it if you were successful?

Hi @waldosdad I suggest you try obtaining the official Alcatel Mobile Upgrade S software from their site, this will hopefully download and restore your device. Please kindly post details on your model, CPU, which drivers you eventually managed to make work, on which Windows, etc.

There's no ROM available for flashing except whatever backups private people do... Haven't found custom recovery either... I personally haven't rooted my Pixi 3 (8) to avoid that exact issue...
IMPORTANT EDIT:
I was browsing through the downloads section of Alcatel One Touch and found that for some reason, they have released more versions of the same "Mobile Upgrade S" for some other devices, rather than keeping a unified version across all platforms/tablets/products.
For example, found versions v4.3.0, or v4.4.1 in other devices, which could imply "newer" database or detection, inside Alcatel Mobile Upgrade S. As @dam85 told me, there may need to be a newer version of this proggie to detect Pixi 3 (8) -- will try it soon...

You can flash it with SP flash tool. Read all my post first and then act.
Open the app, hit "scatter-loading" button, choose your droid tool-creater scatter file with the name of the cpu mt8127 (make sure you have the exctracted rom backup with it), then wait a few secs till the app done loading the files, check if the check boxes are checked and loaded with the appropriate image files as shown in the image.
Leave any unchecked box as is. Make sure to rename factory_NONmodified_recovery.img to recovery.img before doing the above process, or else the program won't load it automatically.
Then, press the green download arrow and connect the device switched off and the process will start automatically.
I can't guarantee the success of the process because I haven't try it yet, but I know that this process is correct for this type of devices.
So, you can take the risk if you want (if it's bricked already, you won't have anything to lose I guess) and you can give as feedback.

i managed to create a scatter file from the firmware.info from backup using MTK Rom Studio but it doesn't seem right:
Edit: It gives me the same scatter file if i add the 8127.

Hi all,
First of all: i am new here. And sorry for my bad English.
I have here a Voyo Q901HD with a new digitizer. Everything works fine but there is one problem. The whole touchscreen is inverted... I have tried everything... Change the system.prop, searching for flash again (but there is no firmware to found), reboot, reset.. But nothing helps...
More information about the Voyo Q901HD can you find here: http:*//*en*myvoyo.com*/chanpin*/pingban*/336.shtml or www*gearbest.com*/tablet-pcs/*pp_266237.html [remove the wildcards]
There is no defective with the digitizer: it works perfect and smooth but only in the wrong direction. There should be a possibility to change it correctly in a configuration file? I hope someone can help!
Thanx for helping and kind regards
Also the 'script.bin' is no option! Is not found on the tablet...
Ok, the problem is now totaly different. I tried to install a custom mod what maybe can fix the problem. I have WDM recovery installed. I have yet CWM recovery installed. The only thing that works... When i try to install a custom mod i receive error 7. But when i recovery my original image where i have make a backup from it does also not work... The backup maked with Smartphone Flashtool and MTK Droid Tool hangs on a sometimes flashing ANDROID logo on the screen... I use the Scatter file inside the image.
Hi @haajee86
I have that same Tablet that died on me !
the tablet is on a logo bootloop and there is no info or download tools for this 4G version of the tablet on VOYO site
So i would like to ask you if you are able to send me the stock rom ? or extract it from your tablet ?
i really appreciate it.
Thanks
Yes you can extract rom from tablet using MTK droid tools, then upload to needrom.com and i can modify parameter for you.
Hi, first time posting.
Please can someone help me install recovery on my Cubot max (android 6.0).
I would like to root the device, but haven't been able to flash a recovery across, and without that I don't know where to start.
I have followed the instructions here; -edit- I can't post links. But if you type "how to root Cubot max" in google the the stupdroid link is on of the top ones.
Already installed the mtk drivers for win 10, turned on USB debugging, allowed oem changes etc.
Got as far as adding the scatter file and pressing download on the sp flash tool, but I was given the error "CHIP TYPE NOT match!! Target efuse value: 0x54000004".
I guess it's because the file in the link is for a different phone (but I heard you can use recovery from similar phones). After hours of searching I can't find any other files to flash the phone with.
Has anyone successful installed a custom recovery or rooted a Cubot max? If so, please share how you did it.
Any suggestions welcome, Many thanks.
[Solved]
OP here. Problem solved! I found a new file for twrp for cubot max, flashed it and now am rooted. Can't share links but I google searched "twrp for cubot max" or something similar and downloaded a file from "needrom" website by user jemmini. It was Rom version 3.0.2.
I hope one day this helps someone else, there isn't much chatter about the cubot max out there.
Help arrived
It is a much easier process of you have a computer at your side and install Mobogenie on it as well.
