I'm in the market for a new phone and I've been looking at these two phones and I am really torn between them. They both have good battery life and I like the feel of both of them. The only down side about the moto x for me is that I can't use the moto maker option for Verizon which is depressing. So I basically just want to hear from people who have had hands-on with these devices and would be will on giving me input to help me out. Anything would be appreciated thanks!

Got the LG G2 recently and I'm completely happy with it.
Be patient and wait for Nexus 5. Nexus 5 > g2 + moto x

Got an LG G2 for the wife and me. Been amazing so far. I have always used Moto but this phone sets a new bar.
So, what's next, what's the best upcoming phone for 2014?
My apps in the Google Play Store: http://goo.gl/ludism
Note III. I'll buy it soon.
Right now the top of the heap includes the Moto MAXX xt1080

XT1080 xixi.
Jos gandos bro.
But imposible for me to have it
I am really hoping is from HTC, I started mess around HTC's phone with HD2 it is probabaly still the best android phone to mess around with. I tried Galaxy S3 and S4, they are okay I am not okay with Samsung's phone quality really easy to scratch...now i have a HTC m7 it is also really fun with amazing audio quality..............HTC HTC please do well!
I think it is going to be a Huawei device. For a few years now they are working their way up quality wise, and I wouldn't be surprise to see the Chinese take the lead technology-wise.

I agree with you.
Also MotoX is nice (and LG G Flex, but I can't buy it in my country).
After seeing all these phones at the end of 2013, the Moto X has some sick features. Is there anyway to flash a rom with those features or can I just get most of them through the play store?
Which features you looking for?

He's looking for Active display, Moto Assist, and Touchless control.
You can get them all from the play store. Omni ROM has Active display. The rest are available on the store.

They are only compatible with certain Motorola devices so you can't just download them from the play store like that.
@kyco16- Those aren't just software features, some of them take advantage of the actual hardware of the X. The touchless control is made possible by the X8 chip, and Active Display takes advantage of the AMOLED screen and uses one of the low power cores of the X8 chip as well. Yeah, there are similar apps available now but they just aren't the same. You want Moto X features? Get the Moto X. I have one and there has never been an Android phone like it. Seriously the best smartphone ever made, without a doubt. Motorola just dropped the price too. $399 off contract for 16gb.
@_MetalHead_ I meant knock off features. The copy cats. They have similar apps in the play store.

No. Almost impossible.
Doable but takes a lot of time and effort. Might as well just get a HTC phone instead tbh.

No, the reason might mainly be because the Moto X is a dual core phone and the Nexus 5 is a quad core. It will be a tough task to get it to work plus the ROM is so much similar to ours.
I'd like to get the OnePlus One ROM on our phone though. It has the "always listening" feature like the Moto X & the "knock on" feature like the G2.

No. The OnePlus One has a custom version of CM11 with special features like already mentioned that has not been released as open source yet. I believe it's CM11S.
Some of the features of the Moto X require hardware we don't have/can't access. For instance the active notifications take advantage of Amoled capabilities our screens don't have. And, though our hardware supposedly has "always listening" capability, even the dev that figured out how to turn it on won't release his method for fear of legal action.

What is so complicated about my question?
Moto X software is aosp with a few additions like always listening and active notifications. Both of those can be replicated but with poorer battery life. The software running the moto x will not benefit this device because those functions are boosted by the hardware backing them.

This ^^^
The moto x is near vanilla, as is the N5. I don't see any reason to want to port it. Its barely different. And the moto x exclusive features either won't work on the N5 period, and the ones that may would kill our battery.
Just my 3 cents.

AMOLED isn't the same as IPS LCD
Regarding the Sense 6 port and the (possibly) upcoming TouchWiz port by GalaxyUser, the devices they're ported from have similar hardware i.e. similar SoC/other hardware, the Moto X is quite a bit more different.

CM11S barely has that much new to it. If you wanted active display a lot of custom ROMs implement it, however as stated, the Nexus 5 does not have an AMOLED display and it'll use more power when it displays on the screen compared to the Moto X for example.

Its not possible. There's a big thread on it somewhere here.
Edit: sorry, yes, you posted the thread. So far it hasn't been done. And trust me, if it does ever work....its sure to destroy battery life.
But, I do hope I'm wrong. Its an awesome feature.
