[Q] How to root after 4.2.2 OTA update - HTC One SV

Hi all,
Can anyone provide a step by step guide on how to root the phone after the 4.2.2 OTA update?
I need root so that I can shift apps to the external SD. Right now I can only shift apps from the phone memory to the phone internal SD card, which is full already..and i can't even load whatsapp images now
I am using LTE version of the phone in Asia (Singapore)
Kernel [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT
Baseband 1.1840a.00.05_10.81a.40.23L
Build 3.12.707.2 CL274701 release-keys
Thanks

If your phone is still S-On/locked, unlock it at htcdev.com (follow the steps there).
Then flash TWRP Recovery 2.6.3 from here with fastboot.
Now you can boot to recovery and flash Superuser.zip from here.
Reboot, and check if SuperSu is in appdrawer and if root could be granted.

Thanks a lot.
Now there is root on my phone. I tried to use link2sd but it only detects the phone sd card and not my external sd card. I have partitioned my external sd card for apps.
Now it seems that there was not much point in rooting my phone...zz

Help needed.. I can't flash back to stock rom

I'm wanting to flash this G1 i just bought back to the stock rom. I googled and found links of what I need to do, but the problem I'm having is that the G1 says there is no SD card in when there is. I took the SD card out and put it into a card reader to format, but that still didn't work. Anyone know how to get this phone to read the SD card, or know how to flash the phone without using the SD card??
Right now in the about screen is says:
Firmware Version: 2.1 -Update 1
Baseband Version: 62.50SC.20.17U_2.22.23.02
Kernal Version: 2.6.33.3-cyanogenmod
Mod Version: CyanogenMod-5.0.7-DS-test2
try reformatting the card
I tried that. Didn't work.
try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719
it should let you flash roms without an sdcard, i would stick with cyanogen since his doesnt us ext3 or 4 for the apps

What method did you use in that link method 1 or method 2? I guess 2 as you have CWM.
sdcard0 is the user internal storage area and extSdCard is the storage slot for the external micro sd card if you would have one.
You are asking how to root......... After following that link and doing as it directed, how do you know that you are not rooted?

Did you put the CWM-SuperSU-v0.94.zip file on your tablet before you tried to root it? or is that file on an external sd card and you are trying to get access to it to install?
I had trouble the first time I rooted with the file on a micro sd card but after I transfered the CWM-SuperSU-v0.94.zip file from my computer to the Note 10.1 internal storage I could access the file without issue.
SuperSU is in Google play https://play.google.com/store/search?q=super%20su&c=apps I think you could install it from there as v0.94 will update from Google Play after install and reboot anyway.

I installed superSU from Google play and it said that the device is not rooted, I remind you that my problem is when I boot into CWM, CWM can not mount my sd card and internal storage.

I would try to root the Note 10.1 again and follow the directions exactly as shown is this video, it is the same as what you did but give it another try. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIYiXzcW7xs
I also would recommend that you re-download the (GalaxyNote10.1/rooting/RootGalaxyNote10.1.zip) File as that could also be the issue.
.
I just used framaroot to root my gt8020. Dead simple really

Need an immediate help!!!

Hello team,
I need to move my GApps to my sd card. When android was in kitkat it was able to move to sd card without rooting from android sdk, but when i upgraded it to lollipop that method is not working. Whenever i try to install new apps from play store its telling not sufficient storage.
Is there any way to move every app to sd card without rooting.
My warranty will be voided if i root my phone.
Please help me.
Thanks,
Suhas
Bro don't worry about warranty avoid just root your device then use app2sd application alike link2sd .later on you can flash stock rom via flash tool. This way is better for phone having less internal memory like ours

MXIII help

Hi all hope you can help 2 questions
1. the internal storage of my MXIII is small think its 5gb but i was wondering is it possible to insert a 32GB micro sd card and create the new inserted sd card as my internal storage? e.g. internal storage now is running off sd card making it 32gb big and leaving the internal 5gb as spare unallocated storage?
2. The version i have is:
MXIII
version: 4.4.2
build number: 113k4
kernal version: 3.10.33 [email protected]#1
Can i update it to lollipop? as the standard android way just says already up to date and mx way says check failed! your OTA servier Argent
Thanks again

I would like to know this also. I see there is no response to this question since 7 Oct, is there another forum for this device?
I would also like to be able to use the sdcard as internal storage if that is possible.
Thanks
Yeah you can add a 32gb micro sdcard
Yes you can add upto 32gb micro sdcard is exactly what i've done. in conjunction with link2sd you can point all downloads to use your sdcard from now on. But what it really does is move all the apps to the sdcard
but for it to really work it you need 2 partitions first Fat32 / 2nd ext4 thats where it relocates your program aps too. And your free to add anything you like to the fat32 mind you that you won't have read/ access to the ext4 but for me its not an issue.
But if you're needing it i'm sure there's an app for that' i used 'aparrted to do the partitions from Android but you can also do it from windows. Before you partition make sure to unmounted the sdcard first and after you have created the new partition restart the tv box and it should remount the sdcard.

Thanks for the answer. I'll give link2sd a try. On another note if you don't mind me asking, have you installed a custom recovery such as TWRP? I can not get the stock recovery to see the recovery.img on the sdcard or a usb thumb drive?
thanks again

Well first you need to download the sd card variant of the update/rom that you wish to upgrade to and open the zip file and place the 3 files in the root directory of the sdcard. After that place the sd card in the tf slot unplug your box and hold in the reset switch (behind the av port i used the insides of a ballpoint pen to activate the switch ) while pluging the power back in turn it on and keep holding in the reset till you see the recovery logo at this point let go of the reset switch. And from this point it should update on its own if it doesn't work try it again.

Change ROM from internal storage in cwm 5? (Vodafone smart mini)

Hi!
I have a Vodafone smart mini, and unfurnately it supports only (unofficial) cwmr 5 and i have a ROM but i doesn't have an SD card, and there is any option like "install zip from internal SD" there is any mode to install from internal SD, or recovery that allow to install ROM from internal SD?
Thanks for the help and sorry for my bad english.
Hi there,
I dont think so
AS FAR AS i know its install from sd!
By the way during the rom flash ur system will be formatted
All data will be gone(restore factory like)
If ur phone have separate partitions
For system and internel memory then thats possible but there is a risk if ur phne doesnt boot after then u wont be able to access internel memory and all of its contents
Do some google search before doing anuthing
Give a thanks if i helped u
