I'm wanting to flash this G1 i just bought back to the stock rom. I googled and found links of what I need to do, but the problem I'm having is that the G1 says there is no SD card in when there is. I took the SD card out and put it into a card reader to format, but that still didn't work. Anyone know how to get this phone to read the SD card, or know how to flash the phone without using the SD card??
Right now in the about screen is says:
Firmware Version: 2.1 -Update 1
Baseband Version: 62.50SC.20.17U_2.22.23.02
Kernal Version: 2.6.33.3-cyanogenmod
Mod Version: CyanogenMod-5.0.7-DS-test2
try reformatting the card
I tried that. Didn't work.
try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719
it should let you flash roms without an sdcard, i would stick with cyanogen since his doesnt us ext3 or 4 for the apps

Hi all
Sorry for my poor English
I have tried three to four WM6.1 Rom on my HTC TYTNII, whenever an application try to read the storage card, it hangs, but any other application installed on device working fine,
also tried to exchange the SD card with my friends TYTNII,
both my and his card working on his device
both my and his card hangs on my device
however, if I flash a WM6.0 Rom, this issue doesn't exist, did anyone meet this or only me ???
BTW,
the card is a SanDisk 8G
3.29.707.0 WWE
05/07/08
1.65.16.25
25.83.40.02H
KAIS130
SPL-3.28.Hard
CPLD-8
Hope we may have a solution on the above, Thanks for any reply.
the apps that are freezing, are they installed on device and reading files on storage card orr installed to storage card and the shortcut is on device? if the apps are installed to the storage card they will sometimes run slow, try uninstalling them and reinstalling to the device. also you might check your running programs in the task manager. running programs will obviously eat RAM and thus the device will run slower
i thing it is not cause by reinstallation
even i use the built in file explorer to read the SD card, it also hang...

had the same problem after flashing the original german wm6.1 rom. everytime i tried to read the sd card totalcomander/file explorer crashed, couldn´t play music from the sd, but the files were readable via cardreader
i formatted the sd card, hard resetted a few times with/without card: noting, the problem was still here.
so i flashed another rom and voila: NO FREEZING! don´t know what happend, but everything is good now.
my first flash of the offical wm6.1 rom was a "bad" one, i think the download was a little bit corrupted, the start menu wasn´t like it should be, there were parts from the old wm6 left i think. so i think you should DOWNLOAD the rom again and then try to flash again.

Thanks for your information, but I had flashed "Dutty's", "TNT Series" and HTC official, same problem happened a few days after the flash, i assume it may not cause by download problem....
are there any way to verify a flash result ????

1. Try removing the SD card and SIM while flashing the new ROM.
2. Try formatting the SD card in FAT32 again.
Clean your card slot in the phone its dirty thats all .
Tried removing the SD card and SIM while flashing the new ROM
Tried formatting the SD card in FAT32 again.
problem still reamin,
however, once reflash back to Windows Mobile 6.0, SD card works reflash 6.1 SD hang.....any idea?
I've seen a similar symptom to this if I try to change my Internet cache to write to the storage card.
Both the OEM AT&T Tilt 6.1 firmware and a couple of the flashes from here - same thing.
Now here's the cute part - I also have a 2GB NON-SDHC card and so far, with THAT card, it hasn't happened.
This looks like some kind of registry problem in these ROMs, and it also appears to be in the base code and across a number of different loads.
It scrambled the hell out of the formatting on my 4GB card when it happened the first time. The second time I SAW a scrambled directory in Total Commander, but a checkdisk on my PC (it has a reader that can read the SDHC cards native) came back clean.
There's something funny going on with these loads somewhere.
Never mind - it just blew up the same way on the non-HC card. Same deal.
I've flashed the HC 3.1 using CWM
I've flashed the Wifi_RootTool_3.1.zip
But somehow can't find the sdcard - slashmntslashsdcard still points to the internal memory.
Xoom Setting - Storage setting still only shows "Internal storage"
My setup is : android version 3.1
Kernel version 2.6.36.3-gc2bee64 android build atapa23
Build number HMJ37
Xoom model : Wifi
anybody can help ?

Rooting and/or updating to 3.1 does NOT get you a working SD card.
You will have to install a kernel (Tiamat 1.4.4) + a new boot image.
To avoid serious issues I suggest you thoroughly READ the instructions for installing the Kernel and the boot image.
Double check to ensure you are using the right kernel/boot image for your xoom (3g or not, etc). Flashing the wrong thing in the wrong place can brick your xoom.
Note that an .img file is NOT the same as a .zip file. Check your work before you press [Enter].
Good Luck.
Terry
Also once you do have the right files, the /sdcard will still be the internal memory. You will find the external memory card in /sdcard/external.
Thanks bwcorvus, the only thing I missed was were to look for the external sd card!

Ok I loaded a new boot image and loaded the Tiamat 1.4.4 following the Tiamat instructions
My kernel is now 2.6.36.4 Tiamat_Xoom-v1.4.4-Full_Throttle
However still no joy to access the SD Card. /sdcard/external remains empty when i open it with rootexplorer. It should have the Tiamat kernal zip and wifi_light_ON_Speed.zip on it because these are the files i put onto the sd card and flashed it with CMW.
Any idea what i did wrong ?
hj
After you flash the kernal, you have to restart xoom again for it to read sd card at startup. T least when I did it I had to restart the device one more time.
ok it looks like a SD Card Problem compatibility problem.
I'm using a imation 32 GB card (i-Express 2 microSDHC) class 10
I tried a SD card 8GB from my HTC HD2 and it works.
Strange that I can do the kernal and boot image flash from the card but not read it later. The SD Card also works on my HD2
Live is a mystery

Try formatting the card in your hd2.

update on my issue.
I found another thread with someone having a similar problem he used
Panasonic SD Formatter to reformat the SD Card. It resolved his
problem and indeed my problem. After reformatting it with the SD Formater 3.0
the memory card was finally recognised.
I did a erase and rewrite - takes an hour but was worth it.
I can now report that Imation 32GB SD card Class 10 is working on a Xoom with HC 3.1 and Kernal Tiamat 1.4.4
thanks to everyone

Maybe you could edit the title of your thread to say (RESOLVED) so others with that problem can see your solution.

I have just installed NTFS mounting from hellcat82, and SD mounting just work!
Hi all. I'm flashing from Froyo to ICS, using NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA V2.1. I've flashed new radio, MAGLDR etc... with no issues, but when I've come to actually flash the ROM, my SD Card has chosen this second to give up on me. It wouldn't transfer any files etc... using the MAGLDR USB mass storage mode, and now refuses to format it.
So, I assume the SD card is screwed (unless there's some weird setting I've missed?) - basically, my phone obviously won't boot into anything now, it's half past midnight and I don't have any more SD cards on me.
How can I flash this ROM using a bootloader? Is that possible? I vaguely recall using a Bootloader to flash to Froyo from WinMo, rather than an SD card.
Any ideas? I need to get this running very soon, so my phone will work.
Cheers in advance.
(also, I did a search, but I couldn't find an answer. Sorry if it has been answered already).
Alternatively, does anyone know of a NAND ROM with a daf.exe loader? Any will do, just so I can get my phone functional until I get a new SD card.
Thanks.
Fixed it, by going into clockworkmod, partitioning the card, formatting it within CWM, mounting the SD card, then mounting USB storage. Seeeeeems to have worked.
So, feel free to delete. That said, would still be interested in finding an alt. solution to this.
Hi guys,
I tried to find solution but couldn't find. the solutions were for different phone and etc. so not sure if that would apply to my case this is why want to make sure will get right fix for the issue
Phone was working fine for a couple months but couple days ago I noticed that I can't take pictures because it can't mount sd card
Well I'm thinking I will restore from backup but guess what I can't because clockwork can't see the sd card so I'm kinda stuck here. I think this is a phone's internal memory card not the micro sd card. Am I right?
Thanks for help in advance and if there is a thread with same issue and device please send me a link as I couldn't find it.
Quick info about phone
sgh-t989
android version 2.3.7
baseband verion T989UVKL1
Kernel Version 2.6.35.14+ SGS2-Streamline #3
Mod Version CayongenMod-7.2.0-RC0-373_R6-Kang-SGHT989-KANG
not sure if this is enough info but if you need anything else please ask
thanks for help
Oh well today I had some free time so I sat down and tried to look for fix, turns out it is was external micro sd issue which failed.
Phone was setup to use external card. So after I told phone go and use internal memory rebooted and all good, inserted smaller micro sd card, just to have some additional memory and all is good. So here you go if you will have something similar going with your phone maybe that will help you.
how did you tell the phone to use internal memory? i'm running across this same problem where my external sd card is not being mounted or read
My greetings to all,
I have a problem regarding the android 10 AOSP ROM on my xperia x (suzu).
I installed the ROM and everything is working fine if I can say it like that. Except my problem is the Sd card which is not supported. And he asks me to format it. What I did with a message which subsequently states that I can use my card now on the phone. Except that I still have nothing, not even a trace of the SD card in the file manager. Could you help me? I really like this ROM and would like to keep it. If there is a possible solution, please help me. I am attaching some screenshots to messages I got with the SD card. I also specify that to flash the ROM I have to send everything on the SD card and use TWRP to flash it. The SD card shows up well on my computer and the Oreo 8.0 Stock ROM on the phone itself. I have to format the SD card in Fat32, exFat, Ntfs but still nothing. I tell myself that maybe it is the ROM which does not accept the sd card. Ah yes I was going to forget, to flash the ROM, I used the kernel of android 9 pie and I don't have another SD card to check if it works or not with another. I also admit that I am not too good at handling. I just came across a tutorial here that I followed(rom-10-suzu-aosp-stable) . Thank you and sorry for taking so long.
