Some apps out there require WiFi to operate properly.
Two examples:
XFinity TV Go - requires WiFi connection to operate
SlingPlayer - requires WiFi connection for HD quality (highest quality option)
Using WiFi is not a big deal, but considering that I am able to use ethernet it seems counter intuitive to use WiFi instead.
Is there a way to emulate a WiFi connection over ethernet?

Is anyone having trouble using bluetooth and wifi at the same time? For example when I turn on bluetooth to stream my music I cannot surf the web at the same time because it's really slow to load pages. Once I turn off bluetooth, the wifi works at full speed.
When you connect to your phone with bluetooth it shares the internet connection. It may take precedence over WiFi.
That sucks. Does this happen with all tablets? My zoom is the wifi only version.
Hi,
I have minecraft pe on my tablet. Usually, I need to play multi player with other people in places without wifi. On honeycomb, I solved this using the tethering setting. However, on ics this setting does not work. I have downloaded lots of wifi tethering applications ( like FoxFi) but they all required an active internet connection. My question if there is a tethering app that does not require an active internet question in order to be used.
(Btw, I'm on AOKP milestone 5)
Bluetooth or WIFI direct works pretty well to setup a LAN connection. Or search for a LAN app in the market.
The initial situation is that my Nexus 5 is connected to a Wlan-AP (Raspberry Pi) without internet gateway, so the phone isn't connected to the internet while connected to the AP. My target is to enable 3g-data while being connected to the AP so I can stream music from Google Music (using 3g) to the AirPlay receiver in the Wlan-AP (RbPi). Ironically, I can achieve this functionality with an iPhone. I just assign a static IP without default gateway and without a DNS and it works perfectly. Now, with my Nexus 5 I can't do it. I can't set a static IP without default gateway and DNS.
How can I achieve this? I don't mind the complexity level.
Tethering?

Nope. Tethering, even though uses your 3G connection, is another whole independent network.
Anyone know if it's possible to tether either via usb or bluetooth with the p900?
I just want a network connection between the two to use for ssh/telnet with Juice ssh and remote keyboard.
I can't use hotspot as I need be able to connect to the internet over my macbook's wifi. Public networks usually don't allow 2 devices to talk to each other so it doesn't work over wifi.
Ignore.
For anyone that has this issue on a Macbook you need to go into networks and makes sure that the Bluetooth PAN connects. It doesn't happen automatically as it does for my other android devices
The Note Pro is then accessible at 192.168.44.1
Actually I just connected to my phone as the bluetooth was on. So still a question is the P900 capable of bluetooth networking?
I tried the Bluetooth PAN app on the app store and it complains that the executable file /system/bin/pand is missing. Does anyone know of a way to add this in?
In case anyone else needs this USB tethering works fine using Valera1978's port of CyanogenMod 12.1.
I am using an app called Speedify on my Galaxy S8+ which enabled me to use LTE Data and Wifi at the same time which bonds both connections together to get faster Data Downloads and Uploads. It also works with Ethernet but when I plug in Ethernet to the S8, it disconnects my Wifi. Is there anyways to keep Wifi and Ethernet at the same time?
Me too

I have researched this isssue but found no solution. In fact I created a new thread on this yesterday. I’m not trying to use LTE but I’m trying to use WiFi and Ethernet (over USB) and have found that the WiFi connection is taken down whenever I connect Ethernet. This is (or was) purposeful behavior in Android back in 2014. I found a post on StackExchange telling how to modify Java code (or *.smali file) to disable the preferred, default network behavior, however, the Java source code has so drastically changed since then (to Android 7) that I cannot see how to make the equivalent change today.
