I'm in the EXACT same condition. <click here>
The device is hard bricked and no software, JTAG, JIG, etc. can repair it. I went to two samsung service centers near my place and was told that the motherboard needs replacement (costs around $250) so I decided to use it as a paperweight and just ordered a 32gb Nexus5 instead.
You might want to try this: <click here> but you need a linux system, good eyes for soldering something that small, and proper tools (~20W-30W soldering iron, flux, very small wire), and of course, the unbrickable mod software. Good luck! :good:

thank you ej8989, I will definitely try the mod, I didn't really want to leave my nexus s now..
I was planning the get a moto x next winter, at much lower price than current one

Try this: Remove the battery, press the power button for 10 seconds, insert the battery and try to go to download mode.
None of the above methods worked i think its dead i think i will have to take phone to service centre it was under warranty period, i donot think they can come to know that the phone was rooted

you are most likely right, as the phone does not boot, they either reflash it with their special flashing gear (not sure if that works with g3 since someone experimentied with usb jig already) or change the mainboard like was already reported by others with dead bootloaders.
next time remove boot.bin and sbl.bin from any rom you flash to keep you out of such trouble.
USB jig only works in soft brick... (just for our phone i mean)
I've send my phone back to warranty, its only way i found...

My phone once went accidently into washing machine ,became compleletly wet,but after drying it was absolutely fine, but it might have changed color of liquid damage indicator that time and so company might not gave warranty now can any1 tell where is the liquid damage indicator (LDI) located in our galaxy3 ? so that i can check it before going to company.
EDIT : Found it... LDI was situated below the USB port on the inside of backcover as white square paper seen after opening up the phone ,it was still white in my cell fortunately
Don't worry about service center they repaired my hard bricked phone and my warranty was still valid after rooting and flashing froyo

Strange that nobody came up with the hairdrier method, sounds strange, but also works on sgs:
Open battery cover and remove battery
Use a hairdrier to heat your device where the battery used to be
Replace battery and use 3bc to boot into download mode.
I take no response if this method does not work, explode or melt your phone or impregnate your house pig...

[Q] Please Help Phone wont go into download after a bad odin flash

I was trying to flash from Gummy charge GBE back down to Gummy 1.9.1 and it flashed okay but after trying to reboot the phone. I kept getting bootloop and now the phone wont go into download. Any suggestions?
It displays the Samsung logo, though? If so, then you're only soft-bricked and can almost certainly recover. There are several things you can try. I'd try the one-click unbrick. If that doesn't work, you can buy or make usb jig to hoodwink it into download. At the VERY worst, you can pay to have someone JTAG it with a riff box, which can typically save even hard-bricked phones.
Here's some more information, including a link to the one-click unbrick (steps you should try to get it into download are at the very top of his original post):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153310
I've got the same problem but one step further, it won't even go into downlaod mode. No matter what I try it is just a black screen like the device is completely dead.
What happen was I was in the middle of a flash last night taking it device back to stock as I just received a replacement unit from VZW becasue of a hardware issue and had ep1w on the one getting returned. So before sending it back I wanted to get EE4 back on it. Well in the middle of the flashing the dam power went out at the house for no reason as there was no bad weather. Anywhoo once it came back on I was going to try reflashing obviously but as I mentioned above its like the device is toasted as nothing happens no matter what I try. Is there any hope of reviving it, or should I not worry about it and just send it back to VZW seeing as I got my refurb now anyways and this was a defect. My only concern is I don't need to get hit retail on it if they seeing it has a different OS on it then what it should. However I'm not even sure what is on it because I don't know where the flashing process was when the power went out. Any input or advise is greatly appreciated.

Use UnBrickable Mod. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1245391
I can work with you directly and its free. I don't have a droid charge but it's based on the exact same System on a Chip as Galaxy S phones. This is the DIY method when a 301kOhm Jig fails.
Your other option is sending it in for JTAG. MobileTechVideos.com will do it for $40.

I might have a candidate. This one's (Droid Charge) basically new, never been wet. Battery warms up after charger plugged it but as far as any other indications i.e. lcd, keys, lights.... nothing, totally dead. This is how I bought it so no other info other than I tried the well documented boot/recovery/upload procedures. Ive done alot of small electronic repairs on numerous devices(not always successful) but other than the fascinate I just changed the lower key interface on I never worked on Samsungs before. I am going to open it to look for something abvious next.

Suggestions to my dead i9023...

What can I do? I saw in some places some suggestions, like this:
1- Take battery and chip out.
2- Hold power button for ten seconds ("to remove any energy power")
3- Put battery and chip back
4- Plug at the charger
5- If Google Logo is on the screen, sucess, if not...
---
Some guys said that I should use JTAG/JIT
I saw in someplace that theses box are expensive, I do not have them...
---
Soo if someone here know something to help... Tell me!
Oh, my phone is dead because I take the battery out when the phone was starting.
Samsung should send me a Galaxy Nexus, this would be perfect. And the phone is a little bit old, so, samsung "can't" do nothing.
Edit: I was running 4.2 from forum.
Pulling battery while at Google logo instantly burns your motherboard, so your phone is absolutely dead. If you still have your warranty, Samsung will repair it! Same happened to me

You make it sound like any battery pull during that time will kill a Nexus. I've pulled my battery countless times, during the whole boot process from Google first logo to boot animation end and my Nexus still works fine. It doesn't absolutely instantly burn the motherboard, lol...
But anyway, if it's physical damage, adam outler ressurector won't do anything. That's only good for warranty.
Yup, I'll try to see if Samsung "can" help me...

I really like the Nexus S and Samsung should give another phone, I did make anything bad, just took the battery off, I didn't see some warning in the box saying that. This is anoying! I'll try to convice them to give me another, if not... Maybe I have to sue them...

Charging pin not working! How to replace?

Hi guys,
my phone's charging pin is not working. I am unable to connect any charger properly. It is happening with 3 chargers and a usb cable. So, I need to replace the pin. But, I have no idea where to get it done. Suggestions please?
Also, is it possible that I can fix this problem by myself (maybe it is just dirt issue)? If yes, how do I proceed with that?
Okay, so I bought new charger, got the pin changed, and still the same problem. My phone doesn't charge while it still displays "Charging". It doesn't matter whether it is connected or not. It just says "Charging". I have done two clean flash, and same issue. Heck it happens even with DDLF2. So, I am out of ideas.
Someone help me here. My phone is a brick for past 2 days now.

holy hell. that is pretty much useless then.
If i were in your situation i would search Ebay for that part (Charging board).
And if possible with the tools including everything you need to disassemble the device.
If you're not experienced with phone repairs... Dont worry.
Check this i9003 Disassemble Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UW4T-aNkQY
The video shows that there is a Charging part.
Search for that part or dead / damaged devices.
Replace it and you're done.
If you want to go the hard way...
There are charging ports for 1$ or 2$.
If you have the proper tools its easy.
If not there are other ways. But it's very risky.

Thanks for the help. I did asked mobile repair shop here, and they are expecting 100rs.(less than 2$) to replace the part. Turns out it is pretty common part and is almost always of same specifications.
Okay, so the socket/pin was not the issue. There was some water damage to the assembly itself. We tried 3 different sockets, and all resulted in same issue. But, replacing assembly itself was cheap enough. So, finally my phone is back and charging fine. :victory:
Good good and good again. Another SL didn't bite the dust.
Cheers

What component is this? [Q]

Hi, I have an ATT Galaxay Note 3 that won't turn on. I repair phones so I was checking to make sure everything inside was good and I stumbled upon this. I compared it to another note 3 that was also GSM and it did have this component so I believe this is what's causing the problem. Now the issue I'm having is that I don't know what part this is and where I could find it. If anybody could shed some light and help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
P.S. I'm new to the forum so if this is the wrong place to ask questions I'm sorry.

Sometimes In new revisions of devices they add or in this case remove components for various development reasons.
I am fairly certain that this is not what is causing the device not to boot. If it had been accidentally removed it would have done damage to the board or there would have been a piece of the capacitor still left. The only way that component could have been removed is if someone with precision desoldering kit removed it.
Can you elaborate on "won't turn on"?

If the device doesn't vibrate at all, no LED, doesn't power on, can't access download mode (In your case since it's a Samsung device) or recovery, and doesn't respond at all when plugged into a computer, you made sure the battery was charged, and the device had adequate power, that usually means it's hard bricked. JTAG is likely the only option at this point.

A good box for JTAG is the RIFF box which you can find out where to purchase one from here. For which pins you have to solder the RIFF box has a feature which allows you to test which pins are which on the board that you need to solder. I would also highly recommend checking out this series of video tutorials, as well as this video on a HTC Wildfire S being resurrected as it gives some what of a tutorial on the process involved. Another possibility that may or may not work is a jig, what the jig does is it forces the device into download mode and you connect it to the micro usb port on the phone, you can purchase a usb jig from here.
Does it have to be activated

I'm not a an expert with regards to the RIFF box, but I believe it will still work without being activated but you won't be able to use many of it's features such as the official downloads on the RIFF servers and other important features. As far as updates are concerned, you should always try to use the latest RIFF box updates as each update adds support for more devices and other feature updates. More information about RIFF box licence activation can be found here.

Last question... I've also seen some connectors that claim to connect to the RIFF box and to the board. They're purpose is to avoid any soldering on the board. They just connect to the pins and to the RIFF box. Are these cables reliable? What are the pros/cons? Will I be able to use them with any phone model? I believe they're called JTAG Molex cables but I'm not sure.

I have no personnel experience with the molex cables. I have heard from others though that they do the job well and are reliable, and I believe you can use them on almost any model. Sorry I can't provide you with better information, I only have a little experience with JTAG.
