This is the latest leak by @mmxnewscaster, seems like Micromax will be releasing updates for all its Canvas devices include A110. Check it out.

I hope that I can enjoy 4.4 on my C2
I hope the news is true. Can canvas 2 handle kitkat?

Kitkat is kind of less resource monster, so it will fly on a phone like canvas 2.
Sent from my potato chamber using xda app-developers app
I wouldn't get my hopes up. The canvas 2 is a old device now. Micromax has already given us the jellybean update. Kitkat might be less of a resource hogger but our phone is old and the company would rather update new devices so they can have more sales.

Today, most android phones are bought keeping future updates in mind, any firm that doesn't update old devices will not be percieved well in the market, hence although MMX may not want it, but they have to do it, as a sort of proof that yes, they too care about customers and after sales services.
plus mmxcaster, generally tells the truth with respect to mmx devices and updates.

mmxcaster might tell the truth but lets face it. Micromax is a small time company that takes chinese phones and rebrands them (Usually). They've already given out a jellybean update so I don't expect much more. Sorry to throw out such negativity, i'm just stating that don't get your hopes up.
I don't know if it's true but if it is, my next mobile will be from mmx too.
Now a reasonable thinking says this is to good to be true. Also no one has released kitkat for mtk6577 yet.
Edit:Couple of people posted on fb community confirming this from micromax service centers.Hope it's true.
Howz about this image?
An official response from mmx..
Now I really think that we should not take this too seriously.
"the higher you are, the deeper you fall"
Don't keep your hopes too high. Lets keep our fingers crossed. But at the same time assume this all as a rumor for now.
tats great

The ICS version of Android has been a pretty strange one from the point of view of upgrades from manufacturers and also of the hacking community that are making custom ROM’s for Android phones, like the CyanogenMod team. That’s because ICS was a huge overhaul of Gingerbread. This is the reason it has taken (some) tablet manufacturers a couple of months to upgrade Honeycomb to ICS, but it has taken at least half a year to even start seeing upgrades from most manufacturers for smartphones. It even took Google itself 4 months to upgrade the Nexus S.
The ROM community didn’t have it any better, and it has taken them until recently to even get in the RC stage for their ROM’s. The camera app has been the hardest to fix for CM9/ICS because Google completely replaced the camera framework, to make it faster and more advanced, and this means that all phones needed new drivers for the camera so the app can work. This means that all the developers making ICS ROM’s had to rewrite the drivers for the new camera app. It’s one of the main reasons why it has taken so long for an ICS ROM to become stable (the same goes for manufacturers). While CM9 will only support a few dozen devices, there are many more developers who are making ROM’s for their own specific phone model, and they are basing those ROM’s on CM9. Why? Simply because of it’s cross-compatibility for many other devices, and its extra features and performance tweaks compared to stock Android.
Google I/O is tomorrow, and we’ll most likely see Android 4.1 not only announced, but also released, which means that the CM team will have no time to rest and will have to get started with adding the Android 4.1 improvements to CM9, or whatever they will be calling it (CM9.1, CM10 ?). They’ve already reached the RC1 stage for several devices today, and this version is coming for more next week. The RC1 stage is the one after beta, so unless some last-minute bugs show up before the stable release, it should be released a few weeks later.
The list of devices currently supported include devices such as the
Samsung Galaxy S,
Galaxy Tab,
Captivate,
Galaxy S II,
Galaxy Note,
Nexus S,
Galaxy Nexus,
LG Nitro HD,
Optimus Sol,
ASUS EeePad Transformer,
Transformer Prime,
Sony Xperia ray,
Xperia mini,
Xperia active,
HTC Sensation and many more..
Hold your horses buddy, we need to have stable & working ICS in the first place to even think about getting Jelly Bean.
Let's also see what Jelly Bean is all about. Some of the speculations are Google's own Voice Assistant, Chrome out of beta, UI changes.
according to gsmarena Android 4.1 is not a big upgrade from ICS they are just replacing the Stock Android browser with Google Chrome as default browser....
Lets wait see what's new in 4.1......

It means that samsung has done their job, they have followed all d norms (like google says to update each fone once in a life tyme). N providing JB to R is more than a favour..And sammy wont make any extra favour specially to R.
It can offer such favour only to s2 s3 and Note etc..

Yes s2 and s3 do deserve...coz
1. They were/are flagship product
2. Millions of user, larger user base.
3. tons of business due to these product.
4. People have paid more that 30k
5. Plus not from a company point of view, but they have greater dev support (its all interlinked... flagship == larger support)
Wat else do you want ??
Does R stand anywhere there ??
:silly::silly::silly::silly:
More Over remember one thing....once s2 is updated to JB, then samsung wont even consider s2..
I mean SGS2 would be treated d same way as SGS was treated by not updating to ICS.
Samsung is money minded and doesn't care about its customer. s2 will get updates till s3 doesnt takes off pretty well in all countries and carrier and den tata bye bye s2..!!

hi everyone
i am new to this and always will be.
I have searched the forums but i lack the attention or technical know how to digest the information. On YouTube there are videos that says "how to update any phone t jelly bean" but they all want you to contract to a prepaid service of some kind
When i had my iPhone i found websites where you just download this APP, double clicked it and it updated everything for you
SOMEONE SOMEWHERE must be able to develop a generic app which will update any phone no what size, configuration or OS is on it ... c'mon techies n geeks ya letting us all down
I am looking for something similar ... pls help me
PLS REPLY to me personally and not on the forum ... there's just too much info and threads and i can't make heads or tails of it
Many many thanks
There's no app that will update it for you sorry
Also what kind of phone do you own?
Depending on your phone there may be options to achieve and upgrade to jellybean via ROMs or possibly ota (depending on your phone)
A good step would to be root first as you'll need it to achieve custom ROMs and recovery options
Like I said first state your phone model etc
So we can help
P.s hit the thanks button!

You can't update any phone to jellybean, too many devices to create a single solution. You also appear to have a non brand phone which makes the chances of having a jellybean ROM drop down to 4%
And... I doubt a third party app could even update the iPhone... without it being from Apple

The issue is the drivers, BLU is not a popular brand so the likelihood of a developer taking the time on the port is slim. Not to mention VERY time consuming on a device that has BROAD support. Typically devices like HTC, Samsung, Motorola (the ones that aren't Nand Locked) will receive ports fairly quickly, while obscure devices MAY never get them.
Now on with the specs. The BLU Studio 5.3 features a an ARMv6 CPU, clocked at 650MHz, a PowerVR SGX531 GPU, and 512MB of RAM. There is 200MB of built-in memory

You may lack hardware support in all honesty, ICS is optimized for dual core devices, though it does run on the HTC EVO 4G (keep in mind that while this is a single core processor it is also a 1 GHz single core, and pretty powerful for a single core device)...If I were in your shoes I would either,
A) Buy a new phone, one that has more community support, if you want Jelly Bean, or
B) Find a bad a$$ Gingerbread ROM for the phone you have.
If a lot of people would be very interested perhaps they can learn to port JB...there are tutorials for the basic port.
Buying a new phone has always been an option for me but ...
there's not many 5inch+ phones out there that has dual sim options
this 5.3" blu motion phone does everything easy to use, great size and large screen for GPS and not to mention cheap as chips
I don't really care about the other bells n whistles i like a phone with a big screen
if someone gave me the iPhone5 i'd put it on eBay in a heart beat ...
... heavens knows why you would want a small phone ...
if anyone knows where i can get a 5inch+ phone with two or more sim slots and with JELLY BEAN
do let me know

Unless a Motorola insider will speak up here, which is very unlikely, this thread is bound to be filled by pure speculations.
Let's wait a few months, then we'll know...
(Btw., in regard to CM and CM derived ROMs, we don't necessarily need the official kitkat for Q, a Razr HD kitkat release could be enough for us, depending on the modem/ril compatibility of that speculative release.)
...Isn't it that our razrqcom devices are already sentenced death ever since Google acquired Moto?

Many months on and still no significant update for this supposed 'mid range' handset with an aggressive carrier bootloader lock policy. I am so utterly disgusted by Sony for dropping all support for this handset early that I will never buy a Sony handset again. Its no wonder they only ever report losses when they offer this quality of service.

What? Its not news, its fact. No 4.4 is insulting, no 4.3, which the Xperia M has and is a virtually identical handset, is disgusting. Aggressive carrier boot loader lock means users who purchased through carriers can't even update the software themselves. As such, there is little to no active development team here beyond a few loyal enthusiasts. Compare that with the Samsung series phones, which all have complex active communities, this phone is dead. No real updates, no support. Released April 2013, release, dump, move on and screw anybody who bought the thing. The xperia L could have been the definitive mid-range handset, but instead they have treated it like dirt. And what did Sony, in their infinite wisdom give us? AOSP sources with broken bluetooth and GPS. Geewiz, thanks Sony.
My Mother-in-laws carrier purchased Samsung S3 mini is smoothly running KitKat,
My Old phone, a 1st generation ZTE blade released the end of 2010 still has an active CM11 maintainer.
thats how insane this situation is.
Yeah, you're saying right.. We have only one major update.. from 4.1 to 4.2. They released broken AOSP source. Okay, our great developer Varun.chitre15 and other devs fixed it. But what about people with locked bootloader? Anyway, I think for many users this will be last smartphone from Sony.

Even Sony Xperia E1, a phone with a 1,2 GHz dual core processor yet only 512 MBs of RAM is running 4.3 and according to their website (at least in my country), there's a Kit Kat update planned for it. Why can the E1 handle 4.3 (and possibly 4.4 too) and the L not? Because of a slightly faster processor? I don't even know what their excuses are anymore

I read somewhere that sony said how xperia L wasn't strong enough to support kitkat roms.
LOL in their faces.
No comment....
Other then slick design they really have nothing else to offer for their mid range devices.
Its a shame.....and dissapointment.
We won't be getting kitkat update for xperia L.....its final.
I know that Sony have not been the best at updating their mid range devices but if you look on the bright side; the people who can unlock their bootloaders have official cm thanks to varun. Also there is amazing development going on for our device. But the people who can't unlock their bootloaders, they have every right to complain. I am just sharing my opinion. Thanks.

Xda Dev r best.that's way we have stable kitkat.
We all have the right to complain when the almost same specced and even lower end device Xperia M gets a 4.3 update, while we're stuck with a version still full of the bugs that still hasn't been fixed. A very capable phone, but they are all too busy with the flagships and the new sh*tty new mid-range devices that doesn't really differentiate them from other OEMs.

Must be 5.0.1, since this version would age considerably by then, Perhaps it doesn't matter for LG G Pro 2 as it would be the last official/community update and there wont be a successor to it.
On a general note, Kitkat performance is sluggish especially in UI transitions on G Pro 2.

Everything begins with a speculation, from religion to science. Well, G Pro series hasn't been an economically viable proposition for LG, perhaps that might contribute to rumors.
Well!
Pro 2 is still a solid and high performance phone even after 10 months. :good:
The Lollipop update is certainly the most welcome as I intend to keep using the Pro 2 until a later date in 2015. :fingers-crossed:

It shoots 4k videos, Qualcomm 800 SOC, but my experience is generally contrary. Scrolling whether be it menus or Web page is not a smooth affair, it's quirky most of the time. The only feature that is on par with competition is its camera blessed with OIS and presence of SD card slot that's absent from many high end devices.

I really doubt that. LG is not so communicative about updates.
But even the G2 received everything up to 5.0, and all the updates were done well. (they work, they make the phone better, not worse.)
I think the G Pro 2 will also get 2 years of support. (And I hope we will also get CM12 by then.)
I would like to see that, but for most of us, but by the time Google's update cycle iterates, an eternity would pass for G Pro 2.
Sources say Android 5.1 is due Early 2015. So I suspect we will get a few more versions before the device goes end-of-life.
But I agree. LG should be much more open with their updates.
Words like "early" are replete with ambiguities. I have a Moto G 2013 and it's still awaiting Lollipop update despite Motorola being exclusively vocal about its update schedule. Pronouncement of update is entirely different from getting it.
