[Q] moto g brick - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, everybody.
I have a big trouble with my moto g.
one time titles "android upgrading..." and then "optimizing app 1 of 1" appeared. and my device came to a cyclical reboot.
I've decide to install a custom firmware. but as soon as I've unlock the bootloader, my problem has gone. I installed a stock firmware and calmed down.
for 2 days.
soon the titles appeared again.
I came to blue monitor and swiped cash, then reboot. since my device turned off and never on.
when I connect a power cable there is 1 LED blink on 9th second when I hold a power or power+vol.down button. and then nothing. so I can't charge it, connect to computer and so on.
please, help me to reanimate the device.
may be is there a reason to give to a service?

[Q] Nexus 5 Firmware update problem

Hi all, I'm experiencing a problem with my nexus 5 at the moment.
I was using it until the battery got to 1%, then I turned off the screen and plugged it into the charger. But apparantly I was too late because the phone was turned off, so I turned it on.
After the google logo a firmware update screen appears. At the top it says Firmware Update, and below an USB-logo it says: "Do not unplug the USB connection until the progress is complete". Below that there's a progress bar, and below that there's a square/box with 'B1' in it.
I have no idea why my phone wants to update. I'm running 4.4.2 completely stock android, not rooted. No images of ROMs or stuff like that anywhere on my phone. It's still on 0%, and has been for the last 20 minutes. (at first I thought it might be waiting for a minimal battery charge to perform the update but you'd think it would be enough by now).
Does anyone know what this is or how to fix this?
I'll see if I can revive my old phone to make a picture of the screen

Try restarting the phone. The low battery might have caused the update screen to appear. The wall plug is not a USB connection.

I'm scared to do it because that screen specifically says not to do it. But I don't think I have a choice in the matter, because it's still stuck on that screen. I'll be reporting back with good news I hope.
Ok what I did is keep the phone plugged in, and held the power button for 5-10 seconds. It rebooted normally, so I can use my phone again.
Thanks for you help!

I wonder why that happened though. Did I accidentally hold a button while powering on the phone? Or just a random glitch..

Haha yeah, same thing just happened to me. I has holding the power button to turn it on, but hit the up volume by accident too and it initiated the Firmware Update mode, just as you described.

I have done all that but it just gets stuck on the black background with Google on it.
My phone did the same thing, and it said keep connected to power so i unplugged it and then tried holding the power button but nothing happened. eventually my phone died again and now when i plug it in the little notification light is flashing red. what do i do?
The red flashing light is a dead battery. Recharge it.

Bluescreen with following reboot

Hello everybody,
a friend of mine bought my Motorola Moto G. But he is having a lot of trouble. After an unexpecting but markable time a bluescreen appears and the phone starts to reboot.
He told me, that it also happens after he did a factory reset. Also his SIM-card is a normal card which he received from the provider and is not cut to micro-sim by himself. He tried it with 2 different providers. Same problem...
I took it back and made a test about 48 hours. Nothing happend. I also did a factory reset. After I updated the firmware to 4.4.2 also nothing happend. The system is not rooted and the bootloader is still locked.
Does anyone has an idea?
Thanks advance for your help.

Hello, similar problem with my one. Phone has arrived on tuesday, today i was playing Dead Trigger 2, when screen turns completely into blue and few seconds later phone just shut down. I´m pretty sure there were about 30% battery left. Now I´m unable to power it off and when I plug it into charger (using my sony 5V/850mA wall charger), phone starts burn after few minutes.

[Q] Phone doesn't start up after update

So I've the MOTO G 4G LTE.
Yesterday I was able to update to Android 4.4.4, so today, I decided to update it to Android 4.4.4.
When the update was downloaded, I clicked install and the phone shut down (Which is normal, says the Motorola website).
After 8 min. I tried to start the phone, but no reaction. The screen was black.
Now 30 min. later, the screen is still black and I still can't start the phone, charging the phone doesn't work either.
I've tried to connect with the Motorola Chat, after waiting for like 30 min. it said there were no Agents available
I hope some of you have a solution, thanks.
That's because MOTO G's charger is very bad, try using another charger.

I'm already using another charger, thanks anyway for the tip
I fixed it, I pressed the power button and volume down for 2 minutes. And chose reboot. After this, the phone started and after 10 seconds it shut down itself again, but this time. It's updating :good:
My MOTO G 4G LTE is now updated
Thanks anyway

[Q] Received OPO today, shutdown immediately after boot.

Just received today my brand new OPO from OnePlus, buyed it with invite, it came from LONDON-HEATHROW - UK.
The phone immediately powers down after boot. It displays the "Power off, Shutting Down" message, but simply refuses to actually let me into the OS.
I've tried:
- Full factory reset (all wipes)
- Reinstalling rom with fastboot (30O) AND with simple recovery sideload (25R)
- Formatting again
- Different cable, Different charger
- Without SIM card, with SIM card (with and without sim deck)
- With cable, without cable
- Boot cycle (+30secs power button)
The battery is at ~35%, But battery does NOT charge. Tried with different chargers and cables, over an hour but it doesn't charge at all. Screen turns on when "charging" and shows battery icon with percentage. And plug is all way in.
Have made a ticket to OnePlus but i dont think i get answer in half a month.
It will stay alive if I hang in Recovery and in Fastboot. It will stay on in that all day. The minute I boot into the OS it shuts down.
Edit: Found out that someone has same problem with nexus5.

On video same thing as me. I haven't rooted device.
Anybody have any ideas?
Very disappointed because waited this day 2 months and then i can't even try the software. Phone feels and looks good. But its too expensive to only be a paperweight.
Did you unlock your bootloader and flash a custom recovery before you tried to flash a rom?

yes i did.
Also tried the boot cycle (at least 30sec power button) with no luck.
I think its a hardware issue... Replacing is good way..

okay, i try to get logcat from boot. First issue is that usb debugging is off by default. So i found a way to change this ON with TWRP, and adb and sqlite3.
Changed adb_enabled value from /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db to 1.
And
Added persist.service.adb.enable=1 to /system/build.prop
Next problem is that when i turn phone on, it boots normally, and when it has booted up it shows on back: Allow USB debugging? And buttons Cancel and OK, but i can't press those because of that stupid Power off. Shutting down... window.
Any solution how to confirm usb debugging?

I suggest you do an RMA ASAP or you'll be screwed. I was having issues with my device not the same as yours and 3 emails after never got a response from OnePlus so I contacted Paypal. I'm sure they'll reply back that way, good luck.

Tablet Will Not Turn On - Help

My tablet is within the 30 day return window, so I am not freaking out. I have the Verizon version 905. The tablet was rooted. It worked fine for a couple of weeks. Last night I rebooted and the tablet's batter went from 50 to 30 in one reboot. I plugged it in to charge and it was taking longer than usual. It was charging at 1 or 2 percent an hour. It was at 82% when I rebooted then it was at 100%. I rebooted it one more time, and it has not turned back on. If I hold the power button on for 5 seconds, it vibrates but no lights turn on (buttons or screen). Anyone have suggestions?
Kurt
Get into download mode and flash stock. What version were you on when it crapped out?
Sounds like a faulty battery to me.

Finally Turned On
When I got it, it already had a Gmail account on it. It was suppose to be new. Everything looked new...I figured it was just an open box. I am not taking any chance, so I am sending it back. I need to flash stock back on it. The model number is SM-P905V. It is running P905VVRUANE4. (Verizon LTE Model) I purchased it without service. I am getting ready to search the forums. If anyone has a link to the instructions, I would appreciate it.

More Informaion and Question
Please let me give you a little more detail, so I can get your opinion about what happen. I entered the boot loader and accidentally hit the volume up button and the device went into downloading mode. I did not have Odin connected, so I did a hard reset. I was unable to turn the device on for 30 minutes or so. Would this have caused my problem or do you think it was a battery issue? Thanks in advance for your opinion.
Kurt
So you're saying that you can still boot the device and use it but it's not stable and can't hold a charge? If so I agree with shadowlea, it's likely a battery issue.
