hi
i don't know about nandroid back up (maybe i do but i don't know i do) but i myself made a back up of my stock rom in CWM becase sometimes i need some of it's features(currently using CM11 very much) so when ever i restore it everything(and i mean everything) restores back to the way it was.everything.... all settings, all apps, their data, cotacts, even phone logs and etc.
but i don't think cm11 works for i9105.
some friends tried it and their phone won't boot i suggest you to search more or ask devs in it's thread if it's fixed or not.
good luck.

At most 3GB
I have many things on my internal sd card and the backup is huge.
The system is also big by itself
Actually cwm is nothing dangerous. Why don't you just try before u ask

about 1.4 gig system partition.then you need to add size of installed apps. and suggest you wipe cache partition cuz it's not really nessesary to back up.
so it depends how much u used data partition its more than 1.8Gig probably.
---------- Post added at 12:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:57 AM ----------
i found this app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cls.partition&hl=en
maybe you can estimate how much u need for back up.
my advice is to wait..nothing is stable so far.
be patient and wait for more stable custom roms

since it's noob questions about roms i have a couple of doubts that's been stopping me from trying Creed 3.3
after flashing the new rom i have to reinstall and reconfigure all the apps right?
do i have to manually remove the one installed on the sd card?
can i create a backup image to restore the phone as it is now?
thanks in advance if someone will answer these silly questions

Yes you should backup all your apps before a new rom. For that you should use titanium backup application(keep the apk file of it app in ur sd card). Backup all your apps using the batch backup option in the app. Then after installing new rom just install titanium backup app and restore all your apps. And about contacts, copy all your contacts to sim.
nice thanks!
didn't know i could restore the apps on a different rom
now i'll try to find a way to do a complete backup of gingerbread to restore in case i want to revert to the original rom
You can backup entire gb stock rom, as an "image", using pratyush's modded version of cwm5...
Typed using a small touchscreen
No problem at all....
Also i flashed roms thrice a day....not to worry much....just flash it....

Ive just rooted my phone and am keen to try a new ROM.
I am using TWRP 2.3.3.0 and Rom manager
Im just wondering about a couple of things and need a bit of help please.
First off i know i need to back up my stock ROM but every time i try i get a failed message "E:unable to locate sd-ext partition" do i need to partition my sd card to create backup?
After installing a new ROM will any of my existing data, apps etc be left on the phone or will i have to restore all that? I have it all backed up with TB anyway so its not a problem if i have to but i cant find any info on the process regarding the One s.
Can anyone recommend a good custom ROM to start off with?
Thanks
Viper2-0.0 it's your best bet and I'm not sure of you can back yup stock Rom .

Yes, do what the post above u said. U don't have to reflash the rom just to change kernels. If u want to go back to the one that comes with cleanrom then u can dirty flash the rom.

Your internal sd card isn't wiped, the contents have been moved to /sdcard/0 because of the way multi-user is introduced with JB 4.2.
What issue are you experiencing right now with phone information? Did you lose your IMEI and ERI?

You probably just had to go into mobile Networks/and change CDMA to RUIM/Sim so that it would recognize your sim card. The 4.2 roms sometimes change this without you knowing.

I'm on TW so no I can't, it's only accessible in that path on AOSP. Just make sure to change it back to Sim before flashing a TW rom because that carries over onto your next rom.

i'll take it as, "which is the best custom rom out there for my phone"
well, it depends, somebody don't need/like their vibration, they would choose CM10.1, which has no vibration and NFC. Both are not working for now. (for some baseband, calling and mobile network don't work)
if you need the vibration and NFC deadly, but you still want your "galaxy nexus-like" user-interface, then Babba ROM would be your choice, but the difference between babba rom and stock rom isn't too big, just aosp launcher and modded status bar, android 4.2 gallery and android 4.2 camera. others are just stock (no offence here, op)
PAC-man isn't ready yet, RIL isnt workin which is a great problem
pandorium needs the stock ROM of XXAMD1 (or something else, can't remember), you need this XXAMD1 (or another one), then install cwm, then flash, if you don't flash the required stock rom first, you would face issues. it's a nice rom but its too complicated and time consuming for me to go back to stock and get cwm again and flash this rom.
so: cm10.1 or Babba rom would be great
for stock rom download:
go to sammobile.com and search for your phone and your corresponding country's firmware.
Edit: just in case you don't know, cause you seem to be new to rooting and flashing.. custom rom can only be flashed with clockworkmod recovery, stock rom can only flashed with odin! (unless otherwise specified)
click the thanks button if i helped :good: :good:
Thank you for the detailed reply.
You guessed it right i'm absolutely new to Andriod. I was an Apple boy before and androids are totally other part of world if know what I mean. As I have the NON P version NFC is not my thing. And I read CM 10.1 is for the P version only.
I'm attaching my phone details.
Check the baseband, firmware etc. What would you suggest now?
Also keep in mind I need to root just for the sake of transferring apps to sd card.
After root will I be able to update my phone if Samsung releases a new update like android 4.2.2 ?
And yes I did thank you !

Okay so I bought a Blaze a few days ago and I was messing around with it and I rooted it. When I rooted it I flashed a ROM and when the ROM booted up and got to the welcome screen it instantly turned rebooted itself, so I let it boot up again but it constantly reboots. Then I went back to a backup of the stock ROM and it still does the same thing. So I followed a guide that updated me to the ICS update in hopes of it fixing it but it still does the same thing! Now I don't know what to do with it. I was hoping maybe someone can help or if this has happened to anyone? Thanks in advance

Yes, the miui we have has a link to racing's blue lightning. I would try miui or another ROM again, but make sure to format /system along with wiping data, cache, and davlik. Or use black hole wipe. If you don't have anything important on the internal SD (or back it up) it might be worth it to format the emmc also.
