[Q] Rom Manager - HTC One S

Ive just rooted my phone and am keen to try a new ROM.
I am using TWRP 2.3.3.0 and Rom manager
Im just wondering about a couple of things and need a bit of help please.
First off i know i need to back up my stock ROM but every time i try i get a failed message "E:unable to locate sd-ext partition" do i need to partition my sd card to create backup?
After installing a new ROM will any of my existing data, apps etc be left on the phone or will i have to restore all that? I have it all backed up with TB anyway so its not a problem if i have to but i cant find any info on the process regarding the One s.
Can anyone recommend a good custom ROM to start off with?
Thanks

Viper2-0.0 it's your best bet and I'm not sure of you can back yup stock Rom .

Thanks for your advice. All the guides I can find do say you can back up stock Rom but don't say anything about having to partition the sd card. Not sure what to do now, really don't want to brick my phone.

Less space in sd-card because of the rom ?

Hi, recently I've installed a rom,
and now I have 2.5 gb less than before in the sd-card.
When I install a rom, where does it put it ?
I have less space now and it's bothered me :X
(I removed the zip file of the rom from the sd-card).
Ohh and I installed TWRP, but replaced it with CWM. Maybe the TWRP is still on my sd-card and take space?

If i'm not mistaken, there should be a CWM recovery to resize your cache partition. Of course, your device should be rooted.

Could be your nandroid backup. Or just repartition through recovery. Make sure to backup first.

you SHOULD know that when you are using cwm recovery, you are tamping with your device, and if it goes wrong it could or could not be fixed.

@LalyGirl, The ROM should be in the system partition. If you have Titanium backup it should tell you the break down of of internal storage, sdcard ect..
or get "Quick System Info" app.
As for recovery, if you flashed CWM it is written to the recovery partition so it will overwrite the TWRP you had.

[Q] Rooting Infuse from Gingerbread?

Hi all
I'm new to this stuff and want to upgrade my Infuse from Gingerbread (which I installed via Kies when the update was finally made available) to Jellybean. However, from what I've gathered, I can't use the Super One Click program to root my phone with 2.3.6, and since I'm new to this, I don't want to brick the phone. What would you suggest I use to first root the phone? I have found plenty of stuff here, but I am unclear whether I can use the stuff posted since I've already upgraded to Gingerbread (vs. the 2.2 stock). After that, am I correct in understanding that I then just back up my info via something like Titanium Backup and then pick a custom ROM I like and flash it? Thanks, and sorry in advance for what I am sure are really stupid questions.

thanks! so just to confirm (sorry, i am still unclear about all this stuff): i download odin and whatever option (you suggest c), along w/ the kies drivers. i install the kies drivers on the phone, then reboot in download mode and run odin. and this will take my version of gingerbread and make it rooted? does it wipe the data off my phone? if so...is there any step along the process in which i can back things up? if it doesn't wipe the phone, after its rooted, i can use one of the programs (like titanium backup) to back up my data, and then install whatever ROM i want, right?
thanks again for the help!

Reboot Issue

Okay so I bought a Blaze a few days ago and I was messing around with it and I rooted it. When I rooted it I flashed a ROM and when the ROM booted up and got to the welcome screen it instantly turned rebooted itself, so I let it boot up again but it constantly reboots. Then I went back to a backup of the stock ROM and it still does the same thing. So I followed a guide that updated me to the ICS update in hopes of it fixing it but it still does the same thing! Now I don't know what to do with it. I was hoping maybe someone can help or if this has happened to anyone? Thanks in advance

Yes, the miui we have has a link to racing's blue lightning. I would try miui or another ROM again, but make sure to format /system along with wiping data, cache, and davlik. Or use black hole wipe. If you don't have anything important on the internal SD (or back it up) it might be worth it to format the emmc also.

hi
i don't know about nandroid back up (maybe i do but i don't know i do) but i myself made a back up of my stock rom in CWM becase sometimes i need some of it's features(currently using CM11 very much) so when ever i restore it everything(and i mean everything) restores back to the way it was.everything.... all settings, all apps, their data, cotacts, even phone logs and etc.
but i don't think cm11 works for i9105.
some friends tried it and their phone won't boot i suggest you to search more or ask devs in it's thread if it's fixed or not.
good luck.

about 1.4 gig system partition.then you need to add size of installed apps. and suggest you wipe cache partition cuz it's not really nessesary to back up.
so it depends how much u used data partition its more than 1.8Gig probably.

i found this app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cls.partition&hl=en
maybe you can estimate how much u need for back up.
my advice is to wait..nothing is stable so far.
be patient and wait for more stable custom roms

Can I get help please. :(

silly me I just notice the one I put on my sd card is for the 7 inch not the 10 inch lol maybe that's why?
Let me guess at the error, is it Status 7? After reading the link you provided you installed an old version of Philz that won't allow you to flash cm11 (which I'm assuming us what you're trying to flash). If this is the case you need to update that bad boy. Look for Android-Andi and in his signature are up to date recoveries. Philz is great but I recommend the cwm swipe, it's a beast and has all the options we need for a tablet.
