Noob question - Samsung Galaxy Fit GT 5670

Is there any problem with frequent flashing of roms?
I mean, does switching from one rom to another every week or in a weekly manner cause any damage to the phone ?

I flashed roms more than 100 times and no problems till now

since it's noob questions about roms i have a couple of doubts that's been stopping me from trying Creed 3.3
after flashing the new rom i have to reinstall and reconfigure all the apps right?
do i have to manually remove the one installed on the sd card?
can i create a backup image to restore the phone as it is now?
thanks in advance if someone will answer these silly questions

Yes you should backup all your apps before a new rom. For that you should use titanium backup application(keep the apk file of it app in ur sd card). Backup all your apps using the batch backup option in the app. Then after installing new rom just install titanium backup app and restore all your apps. And about contacts, copy all your contacts to sim.

nice thanks!
didn't know i could restore the apps on a different rom
now i'll try to find a way to do a complete backup of gingerbread to restore in case i want to revert to the original rom

You can backup entire gb stock rom, as an "image", using pratyush's modded version of cwm5...

CWM

This is making me nuts!!! I keep reading references to clockwork mod. Where the heck does one find that file? I assume it's phone specific!? I know it's part of Rom Manager but I'd rather avoid that program. When do you flash with CWM vs flash with Odin?
Thanks all

Welcome to xda buddy
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24085665 that's the Touch CWM thread you have to use this version to install the IcS roms for the SGH-I727 (skyrocket) or T-989 (Hercules on tmobile)
Also you Odin when you're going back to stock or adding a new recovery. Most everything else can go thru CWM. The threads will lay out specifically which to use and when to use it
This http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19262010 is the basic Odin thread. Read and learn my friend.

Thanks for that, But I have the Rogers version (i727R) and I don't think I can use the touch version! But I maybe out to lunch on that.
I give that link a good read anyway!
Stew
Thanks again Androidsc. I read the thread and there were some fellow Canucks reporting good results with their sgh-i727R and the CWM touch!!
next step
OK! I now have CWM touch in the phone. Going to try the lastest Sky Rom. Don't know what's in the zip file but should I do a rom B/U first and a Titanium B/U too before theis next big step?

I'm not sure about sky ics on Rodgers either but ask Sean he can tell you. But to answer your question about backing up yes always make a nanadroid backup of your current working rom before flashing anything. As far as titanium backup that's your personal choice I do backup my apps and data with titanium backup and restore them from there and never had no problem but again I'm not on Rodgers and no nothing of how Rodgers works but Sean the dev of sky ics could probably answer all that for you to...

Less space in sd-card because of the rom ?

Hi, recently I've installed a rom,
and now I have 2.5 gb less than before in the sd-card.
When I install a rom, where does it put it ?
I have less space now and it's bothered me :X
(I removed the zip file of the rom from the sd-card).
Ohh and I installed TWRP, but replaced it with CWM. Maybe the TWRP is still on my sd-card and take space?

If i'm not mistaken, there should be a CWM recovery to resize your cache partition. Of course, your device should be rooted.

you SHOULD know that when you are using cwm recovery, you are tamping with your device, and if it goes wrong it could or could not be fixed.

@LalyGirl, The ROM should be in the system partition. If you have Titanium backup it should tell you the break down of of internal storage, sdcard ect..
or get "Quick System Info" app.
As for recovery, if you flashed CWM it is written to the recovery partition so it will overwrite the TWRP you had.

Reboot Issue

Okay so I bought a Blaze a few days ago and I was messing around with it and I rooted it. When I rooted it I flashed a ROM and when the ROM booted up and got to the welcome screen it instantly turned rebooted itself, so I let it boot up again but it constantly reboots. Then I went back to a backup of the stock ROM and it still does the same thing. So I followed a guide that updated me to the ICS update in hopes of it fixing it but it still does the same thing! Now I don't know what to do with it. I was hoping maybe someone can help or if this has happened to anyone? Thanks in advance

Yes, the miui we have has a link to racing's blue lightning. I would try miui or another ROM again, but make sure to format /system along with wiping data, cache, and davlik. Or use black hole wipe. If you don't have anything important on the internal SD (or back it up) it might be worth it to format the emmc also.

hi
i don't know about nandroid back up (maybe i do but i don't know i do) but i myself made a back up of my stock rom in CWM becase sometimes i need some of it's features(currently using CM11 very much) so when ever i restore it everything(and i mean everything) restores back to the way it was.everything.... all settings, all apps, their data, cotacts, even phone logs and etc.
but i don't think cm11 works for i9105.
some friends tried it and their phone won't boot i suggest you to search more or ask devs in it's thread if it's fixed or not.
good luck.

about 1.4 gig system partition.then you need to add size of installed apps. and suggest you wipe cache partition cuz it's not really nessesary to back up.
so it depends how much u used data partition its more than 1.8Gig probably.
---------- Post added at 12:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:57 AM ----------
i found this app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cls.partition&hl=en
maybe you can estimate how much u need for back up.
my advice is to wait..nothing is stable so far.
be patient and wait for more stable custom roms

copy it to your phone using the USB cable or download it to your phone. If you don't have access to your OS, push it to your phone with ADB. It's like any other file you would transfer to your phone.. And run it from TWRP or CWM recovery.

I personally haven't tried out 4.3 yet, but I'm not impressed by reports so far, that and it seems to be in it's early stages, like when 4.2 first came out it was full of bugs for a lot of phones.
Personally Magio R3 JB 4.22 and JMZ kernel have worked pretty much flawlessly for me. With a few extra tweaks and mods it does everything i could want it to and I do a lot with my phone. 4.3 is still buggy with a lot of apps, although app devs are updating quickly. And with all that said 4.4 may be around the corner.

Titanium Backup is your best bet for backup and restore of USER apps, restoring a "missing" system app to a new ROM is NOT a good idea, especially if the backup is from an odexed stock rom.
Your contacts are synced to your GMAIL account, so no need to backup, but if you want to have a copy, export to vcf format from contacts settings, manage contacts menu.
For SMS, i'd recommend either Super Backup : SMS & Contacts, or SMS Backup & Restore - both are available free from Play Store....
4.3 isn't that bad, better than 4.2.2, but poor in comparrison to kitkat 4.4.2 - sooo sweet!
Oh, I'd advise downloading deodexed ROMs

No, there is no 4.4 source available for the mini..... I run it on my Nexus 7 2013
The one mini should start receiving 4.4.2 sometime during February, but dates will vary by network..... As soon as someone gets the update and provides a system dump, we can start building ROM's.....
