[DISCUSSION] Microsoft Project Siena - Windows RT Development and Hacking

Hi,
I just stumbled upon the new project Siena, an app that allows you creating Windows 8.1 apps within Windows 8.1 without any programming needed. The cool thing is, that you can also use this app on Windows 8.1 RT.
Since the Project is open beta right now, there aren't many resources arroundand I'm still a little unclear about the abilitys of this.
My intention with this thread is to share what you discover, develop or what you have trouble with.
My first question is, what apps can you think about buissnes apps aside? Do you think, one could create a XDA-Forum app with this?
And how does the publishing work? Do you need a developers license to install your own applications? Can we simply share .appx -files, or do we need to use the store?
Here is the official page of
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/projectsiena
Happy Holidays and best regards,
Kalle

Update: As it turns out Microsoft allows you to publish apps created with Siena to the Windows Store, as the guys from SurfaceGeeks already published the first two apps and the other good news is that apps created with Project Siena also work in Windows RT.

I believe you need some sort of license to publish to the Windows Store because you need a license when you publish from Visual Studio

open source App store for Windows mobile ??

Hi,
why this kind of project doesn't exist on Windows mobile plateform?
I have started to dev an appstore-like for windows mobile (80% done) and the main problem i have is how maintain app list.
Open the app list to all contributor have some legal issues.
Maintain alone this is impossible if you want exhaustivity and reactivity.
I have thinked at something like apt-get for debian and ubuntu, one official repository and let the possibility to add other repository maintain by the community.
Another problem is how to create community ? how to find people who want to help your community?
Second problem storage!! You can't link directly the cab, First because they can move, and after by respect for the distant site.
What is your opinion, is it possible to do if you're not a Microsoft-like compagny ?
If i release my app, will you use it? whill you help to add cab ?
What kind of feature is must-have?
PS s: sorry for my poor english

[APP] General Mobile application market STOREOID

Hi Guys,
General Mobile released new Android application market name is STOREOID.
you can see web site from this link www.storeoid.com
also you can download apk file from this link
http://depositfiles.com/files/3r91va3la
General Mobile waiting for developers applications
this market show only free applications for now. but then will be release paid applications also.
when the developers upload their application this site then General Mobile content filtering team check all apps and release step by step.
If you have any question please freely contact with me from here or [email protected]
Thanks
whats the purpose of this?
because google not support all countries for android applications. so main purpose support developers for the future.
General Mobile selling their android OS device in Turkey, USA, European countries, some Asia countries.
so its like a market that does not filter for region? What about os?
this is android OS market and now just release. we need more application from developers.

no no, i meant non version descriminant, like 2.2 vs 2.1
it will be. system will check device SW version and then show suitable apps.
still under developing. I think developers can write application for which SW version for the first step
how about froyo?!!!
we're fighting for a ROM because GM -again- releases a phone and leaves it to die.
technical support sucks, software support sucks, this is the only device GM could make a breakthrough and despite all the petitions we're ignored. If DSTL1 supports Froyo, we must have that. At this point the double sim "advantage" works against us because Yuhua does not get paid. sorry but you'd better start spilling the money or GM will collapse.
Tried this. Need to register to use.
Promising interface but very few apps at the moment.

[Q] Convert Iphone App to Android app

Hi,
I currently am new to android and am starting to love it. I currently am a developer for the Apple App store and would like to transfer my Xcode over to android and start doing code in the android SDK. I have the Xcode and was wondering if anyone could convert it for me or send me to someone/somewhere that could help me convert the code for a small fee or for free.
The app is a simple navigation app that should be pretty simple to setup and initiate. I'm basically done with dumb apple stores and their rules that I can't make more apps because their tight wads. Anyways... any help would be great.
Thanks,
Brandon

Where does he say anything about Warez? He developed an App for the App Store and now he wants to convert it for Android use.
you got me on that one i completely overlooked that part lol my bad.
If you know how to develop in JAVA then you may have to write your code for your app again. It isn't easy to just "port" iPhone applications to Android.
if it were as easy as porting code from objective c to java then the market would be flooded with tons more iphone apps... you have to rewrite the app from a programming sense pretty much. there are tools with which you can write apps from scratch that will work on both platforms but you can't send xcode to android and expect anything.
Sent from my MIUI SCH-i500
I dont expect to convert it without any hard work. I basically am wanting to give the code to someone. Who maybe for a small fee. Can recreate the app for the android. I know it probably isn't going to be super cheap, but since the idea is already there. I was just wondering if anyone would be able to help me out on this issue. I just mainly want to have someone recreate my app, and then possibly do a small overview of how to make it function like my apple app in a sense.
Android Studio and XCode are completely different. You should rewrite the application if you are going native. You can use HTML tools such as Intel XDK, PhoneGap, Cordova for cross-platform apps but they don't have the power of native development.

[DEVELOPERS NEEDED] Building an application (more details here)

If you have iFunny, you're most likely annoyed or tired by the new update...
So, without further adew, I have an idea that could become a top competitor against iFunny. In fact, I can't tell you many details about this application until I get the first (Alpha) version of this application up and running, so I can get the copyrights of it!
THIS IS NOT A HOMEBREW PROJECT.
This may just be an idea at first, but I am already getting the documents ready to copyright this, and I'm already buying the domain/website for it!
So, with the help of some android developers, we will be competing against iFunny in no time!
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask or converse freely below! Or, if you are serious about being a developer for my organization, feel free to Skype or Kik me at: dsman444

You seem like you know quite a big deal about android application development, could you be handy with that as well? I mean, sure, I would love for you to test with several different versions of android. But the development team doesn't even have an alpha version of the application available yet.
The main objective first, is to develop the application. I have all of the ideas and portfolio for the application ready. All we have to do now is create it. Could you be of any assistance with developing?

Small update haha. Skype me please? My development team (AndroTech) would be interested in using you for testing/java code development if you would be interested in that as well. My skype is dsman444. I can tell you a lot more about the app we are building there.

Mobile app monetization with SDK

Hello guys. So I'm working on my first app and was looking for a way how to make some profit from it. Recently I found this article about mobile app monetization with SDK. Just wanted to ask you, has anyone tried any of there methods? Maybe you have some recommendations on how I could monetize my app? Thanks

Sup, I'm using Admob for almost half a year. I assume it's the most popular and reliable way to monetize your app. What I recently found was Globalhop sdk. Before I didn't know that you can combine two sdks but it seems that Globalhop can work along with Admob. And to say truly, I immediately noticed that my monthly income increased after I started using them both. So far had no complaints from the app users about slowness issues. Hope there won't be any in the future.
