Hi there,
Fist of all, I apologize if my english is far from perfect.
I have a problem that do not seems to be very simple.
My HTC One S is running on the HTC Stock ROM, and I meet the issue decribed in the title.
The phone can connect to my handsets (tested with my mercedes system and a plantronics headset), I can start start/stop an incoming/outgoing call from the headset but during the communication there is absolutely no sound emitted to the speaker/ acquired from the mic.
Of course the volume is at max, the right output is selected in the call menu and secret mode is disabled and I already tried to unpair and repair the phone to the devices.
This problem has appeared suddently during a call in my car after 6 months of loyal service.
I've already suspected some app services to block the sound of the call (appslock, some games, ...) but my investigrations has not provided any result.
If I could avoid to wipe my phone for a so small issue that could be really great.
Does someone has an great idea to help me ?
Thank you very much for paying attention on my problem...

Well, I wouldn't be in as deep of a trouble if this were my phone... But I suggested the Mini to my GF.
Anyway, she was using headset earlier today and after she removed the headset, the phone is stuck in headset mode. Meaning no voice coming thru the phone's earpiece on both incoming and outgoing calls. She tried the headset again and voice is coming thru headset without problem, but once removed, it's still stuck. How do I get the phone out of headset mode please???? Anyone has similar problem before??? Please help!!!

hey hi ,
There are many ways of fixing this -
1)softreset
2)turn bluetooth off! if you are talking about bluetooth headset
3)where it says enable bluetooth headset on today screen - disable it
These might help you!

The socket has probably jammed internally, try insert pull out a few times making sure you pull sharply when removing, if this fails try inserting something slightly smaller and jiggling it about. I have also used a tiny squirt of WD40 which is like an easing oil for rusted or obstinate nuts/bolts/screws, also you can buy a spray called switchgear which is used for electronic components such as volume sliders/switches etc when they become sticky and operate intermittently. This is a well known problem on the xda 2.
Thanks guys, it's not BT and this is after many soft-reset I'll give WD-40 a shot. Thanks again!
I've got exactly the same problem here. My phone is bonded to a BT headset. Forgot to bring the headset and found that no sound, or extremely small volume, was coming out from the phone. Tried soft reset, deleting the bond etc. none of it works.
Would be interested in knowing what's the real underlying cause if anyone finds it out.
Hey Solitary, I'm in HK as well and I think it's a hardward rather than software issue. Coz. if I pull the headset, the normal clicking sounds can be heard from the phone, just not during voice calls, I think the earphone on the phone is somehow dead, looks to me like cold soldering
I'm calling O2 in the morning and demand an exchange, my GF only had this phone since 1/9 and besides this, on the unit we have, the voice quailty is also bad too
Hi, CL55,
You might want to read this:
http://www.coolsmartphone.com/index.php?option=articles&task=viewarticle&artid=58&Itemid=3
It seems it is an old and common problem for smartphones.
I've also read in a Taiwan forum that they have got exactly the same problem in Taiwan for the Dopod818.
But I wonder if it is hardware related. My problem is that I'm stuck in a BT headset mode, and I'd never touched the hardware headset socket. So either I have a different problem than yours or else it seems it's more likely a software problem.
Anyway, do tell us if you manage to solve it.
Can you confirm if you can hear the clicking sound from the buildin speaker now? Only no voice from the earphone, or no clicking sound from the buildin speaker as well? I really suspect I have a different problem
Yes I can hear all other sounds from the speaker loud and clear, except for talking over the phone.
So it seems I've got a BT software (or my BT phone hardware) problem but you've got a Mini hardware problem.
I was listening to some music through my headphones on my jam and I got a call, so i pulled the headphones out of the jack. Once i did that no sound would come out of the speakers, not even after many soft resets. I could still hear sound when i put my headphones back in, but nothing when i took them out. Then i tried making a call and pulling the headphones out of the jack while in the call and that fixed it. It must put the hardware in some bad state if you pull headphones out when there's a call?
i had this problem to but i've fixed it! hard resets doesn't seem to work so i pulled the battery out for a night and my speaker was working again try it!
I have an XDA II with a Logitech Mobile Bluetooth Headset for the last 7 months.
I've just returned one of these headsets as faulty because I kept losing 85% volume in the ear pierce ocassionally when I received an incomming call. I then bought another one and guess what? same problem, so the fault has to be with the XDA phone itself. The problem is I only seem to get this problem with incoming calls, can't remember getting this problem when making a call. When the volume drops I can just about hear the caller but its extremely faint.
The only other Bluetooth device I use is my TomTom navigation unit and although I have had some problems with both devices working together I'm not getting regular problems, just things like the TomTom can't alway connect to the sat box or my headset doesn't always work when the phone rings.
Anyone else had this problem and more importantly the solution???
Thanks
Paul.
I had that problem and I was advised to turn off device, remove battery for 20 secs or so (ensure backup fully charged!!!) and then reinstall battery, reset device (soft) then finally re-install headset ans establish new BT pairing to headset.
fiddly but it did work
good luck
Pete
I did that as advised by Logitech but the problem still occurrs on occassions. Is it a problem with headset or XDA?
I know this may not be a PDA specific problem but I'm asking for any help! I have an XDAIIs which after unlocking am now using with my work Orange simcard. They kindly supplied me a new Nokia (CK7?) bluetooth carkit that pairs very easily with my xda. Problem being that the person on the receiving end of the call, whether on mobile or landline, gets immediate echo back of anything they say. (Sound quality is excellent at my end) All I can think is that the mic on the XDA is live alongside the carkit microphone causing one to pick up speech and send it straight back. Has anyone else encountered this problem and had any joy in remedying it!!?? Any help great fully accepted as I'm getting fairly reliant on my PDA now and it is very annoying not being able to use it in the car!
Thanks, Steve
You have a Nokia CK7W I expect. Welcome to the club! There is currently no solution for this problem, although upgrading the Bluetooth stack is rumoured to help. I have Radio version 1.13.00 with BT stack 1.0.0 Build 3900 from Broadcom and this problem persists.
So, unless anyone comes up with any other suggestions you are stuck with it for the time being. I wouldn't rule out upgrading to WM5 but I have not heard anything of how the BT performs in that image.
Sorry couldn't be more positive
I am also a member of the club tried everything. The most easy thing to do is to lower the volume of your carkit speaker. This could mean that the PDA is catching up what the other side tells you. But i tried everything, even different profiles (pocketalarm) but it is still there. So let hope someone comes up with that everwanted solution.
Maybe the voice coming out from car kit speakers reenters car kit microphone
Thanks guys, looks like I'm stuck with it for now...

I had the same setup with my Nokia 6260 and everything worked perfectly. I sold the phone and bought a S100 and now i have this problem, so it is not the issue that the speaker is to close of the microphone. My guess is that nokia uses a different protocol in their BT stack. To ensure that you will use Nokia forever.
I also asked the other side to talk while i putted my hand on the carkit miicrophone. The echo is still there. A new BT stack would be handy.
AE problem
Hi!
nothing about your problem - but something you may interest to hear.
- simple one - Acoustic Echo becomes to Far End user (not you) as result of passing signal from your speaker to your microphone.
- how signal passing from.. to.. - not necessarily by air - and for mobile devices it is usually passing through its case and its board. So if you put your hand on mic - you won't achieve any "improvement".
only what you can do:
- find from what part problem comes - as you have 2 mic on your sytem try to find which one "cause" the problem. Acoustically separate PDA's mic - if echo still presents - the problem exactly in hands free part.
If it is - BT stack software cannot help you. BT stack software is responsible for data transportation. Only if inside new firmware some one put AECanceller software (and hardware) iprovements.
hardware means - physically prevent (provide good case and board design) passing cpeaker signal to mic. Actually this way is quite reasonable - for example HP 2210 PDA has several times smaller and shorter ImpulsResponse compare to Qtek S100. This means that in equal other condition HP provides smaller echo signal. For both devices echo path lies "inside" them - I am not targeting application like conference-room.
Second way is - to use software AEC - in nowadays it is normal and usual function in such device's firmware. So maybe next firmware will have it.
What can you do more - try to play with mic sensitivities and speaker loudness - it may help... a little.
hi folks,
i have a strange problem with the HTC Stereo Converter with Microphone from brando.hk
http://shop.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=01946&dept_id=027&cat_id=0937
whenever i plug it in, use it with earphones listening to music after some minutes my diamond starts to call the last called person.
i don't klick on anything, it just starts to call "by itself".
cost me a lot of money to "autocall" a friend from a foreign country
anybody got the same problem/a solution for that problem?
using dutty's diamond rom 1.93WWE, radio: 1.00.25.07
additionally the sensorlock program
I had the same problem with my phone.
First I've tried to change the radio and rom but no use: still with the same problem.
Now I've changed the earphone/mic by another and now it's working fine.
I got same problem, how you solved it?
This is not so rare problem and it is due to stupid function of redialing after double click on active button on original headset. When you connect your adapter and 3,5mm headset then it is identified sometimes as doubleclick and starts redialing. This function is completly useless for me and is causing a lot of unwanted calls even if I do not have adapter connected( sometimes I just doubleclick active button by incident). I would be very happy if someone could tell me where can it be disabled in registry.
Hi all
I have a fully unlocked (from purchase) P5100 tablet which has been rooted for openvpn support. I set up a bluetooth headest with it and everything was ok.
After a few days mobile originiated GSM voice is no longer working properly although mobile terminating seems to work fine .
GSM Speakerphone calls ring once on the tablet then go silent. and this is total "audio shut down" silent, no hiss no nothing, the call proceeds but when the call is picked up at the remote (B party) end , there is no voice path either way but DTMF tones can be inserted to line from the keypad.
GSM tablet originated calls made with a stereo headphone (i.e. expecting to listen to the call on headphone using the tablets internal microphone) give the same result as GSM speakerphone
GSM inbound calls to headphones work as expected
VOIP calls route as expected
tried turning off BT and WIFI , rebooting , unpairing the BT headset ...no restoration of audio !!
Well....i'm stumped !!! anyone got any clues ???
regards
CQU
for the record - I have checked the obvious like the "in call" volume was set to maximum not set to "0"
try Reset factory setting
Factory reset hasnt fixed it, going back to supplier as 'not fit for purpose" under the sale of goods act
Specifically wanted a 5100 for gsm voice calling
Regards

same problem...
Hi, I've got the same issue...
Even after flashing several custom roms I can make between 0 and 2 succesful outgoing gsm phone calls after a reboot.
Maybe anyone knows a radio rom that works properly in the netherlands? I'm hoping that that might solve the issue. Unfortunately, samsung hasn't released a new version for the netherlands yet as far as I know...
