1. self explanatory
2. for installing a an update that's in the root of your card (I think)
3. wipe user data
4. wipe cache (3 and 4 are needed when you flash a new ROM)
5. for flashing a new ROM, gapps or whatever else comes in a .zip
I'm pretty sure you could have found the answers yourself had you bothered to look ...
HI!
I have two quesstions. I downloaded Xperia Ultimate HD 3.1 (Beta). I found two guides to install it, but I don't know which i can should use.
I have Xperia Arc S with LOCKED bootloader.
First: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1955248
There are some steps, which are skip in "official" guide in UHD thread.
For example: according to Tesla's guide I should:
1. Wipe data/factory reset
2. wipe cache partition
3. go to mounts and storage menu
4. format /system
5. format /data
6. format /cache
7. go back to main menu
8. go to advance menu
9. wipe dalvik cache
10. wipe battery stats
11. go back to main menu
12. choose install zip from sd card and then choose xperia_ultimate_hd_2.0.zip file or xperia ultimate hd 2.0.2.zip
13. After Complete Installation untick "reboot" <-- (NOT reboot device) and press reboot in CWM
14. you are now back in cwm, choose reboot
15. Now your phone should start up after some minutes and you can enjoy your Arc with Ultimate HD™ ROM 2.0
But according to "official" guide I should only:
For Unlocked Bootloaders: Flash any Kernel for stock ICS.
For Locked Bootloaders: Root your phone using this tutorial, than install CWM using this app
Place ROM on SD-Card
Back up user apps and data. (Various apps available, search Google Play. This is a popular one)
Power off phone.
Boot to CWM (Keep pressing the Volume Down key after the Sony logo appears)
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Mounts and Storage --> Format /System
Advanced > Wipe Battery Stats
Install zip from SD card > Choose Xperia Ultimate HD
Follow on screen instructions on AROMA.
After Complete Installation untick "reboot" and select reboot in CWM
Give the phone a good full charge, and enjoy your brand new phone!
As you cas see in "official" guide aren't steps like: format /cache, wipe dalvik cache, format /data, format /cache.
So, which guide I must use to avoid bootloop? And, can I use Eroot to root my Xperia?
Soooorry for my awful English

Select the ROM you want to install and wait for the recovery to finish it's work. When the recovery options will appear, select restart to system. The phone will reboot, the first reboot will be long...
Mind that, when waiting for the first reboot, you must be in the rom bootanimation not in the starting lenovo text logo. If you stuck in the starting lenovo text see the thread for that bug/error.
I think it is translated version. Brush complete = Flashing process complete.

Hence it didn’t work you didn’t need to flash all of those zip but just format data.
Will this work for OnePlus 6T?
