[Q] Motorola Xoom won't turn OFF & Stuck on M logo ! - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Motorola Xoom won't turn OFF and stuck on M logo. Please, can you help me ?

I assume battery drain has turned it off for you by now. In the future, pressing the power button and volume up at the same time should help.

My tablet is OFF only when the battery is empty, it is normal, but the same thing happens when you get the power back.
By pressing the power button and volume up at the same time, not helping me. Just a quick restart ...
Thanks !

As far as i know your Xoom might be romless. Try flashing any rom from your sdcard and lets see what happens

Can you teach me how can I flash the rom through Fastboot because ADB is not recognized by the computer, cannot install MTP driver.

Im sorry i cant. Im not familiar with such way since flashing from sdcard is more simple for me. Computer not recognizing device because of MTP driver is known for common issue though. Dont you want to try flashing from sdcard? Its easier if one is present.

Just copy the rom and gapps to the sdcard and simply flash them from the recovery. Or if you want to update the revovery, you can also put it in the sdcard and flash it before you flash the rom. Wipe cache lastly

Gee so sorry. I thought you have custom recovery like cwm or twrp. Apparently you still have stock recovery there. So i guess you need to download the stock image for your Xoom and, yes you are correct, flash them from fastboot then. Long long time ago, i ever did this but i dont really remember all things. But all i know is that I followed steps from here http://androidforums.com/xoom-all-things-root/653230-return-your-xoom-stock.html. Pay attention for post #37 since all commands i applied are from there. If you need different version of image, you can try looking which fits yours here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049485. As i told you before, ive done this long time ago so i dont remember what i did at that time but i succeeded by following the steps. However, im here to help you as far as i can. Keep me updated with your process there

Your advice was definitely the solution, but I did not get to do anything because my Xoom is stuck in black screen and cannot power it on
I do not know the cause. It's incredible what happens !
Suddenly started to reboot itself, then stopped completely. It was only connected to the original charger and USB, ready for install drivers and flash.
The power led is ok (white and green, after few minutes) I removed the battery, the voltage is correct, and nothing ...
Do you have any idea?

No, before, when my tablet was with my initial problem (Won't turn OFF and stuck on M logo).
Suddenly it started to reboot itself and stuck each time at M logo, then stopped completely, after 4-5 cycles.
During this time, I followed the steps in this link till the point 6 (reboot your computer, plug in your Xoom and allow the drivers to install), with WiFi Xoom Restore downloaded files.
Black screen, no fastboot, no android recovery, nothing, just a green light when charging with original wall charger (SPN5632B)

With Original Motorola Wall Charger SPN5632B, no long time because my tablet was almost always connected to the charger.
The battery has 8 volts and charger 12 volts.
If I disconnect the charger and hook it back, the white light stay bright about 10 minutes, then turns green.
Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi - MZ604
From what I remember, last days when charging, the Xoom jacks area was warm, now is cold. Maybe it is normal to be cold if the tablet is fully charged now, I don`t know exactly if this is a good indication for helping me...

Green light indicates that the battery is full. Your case is not an ordinary one though. What happens if you press volume up+power button? Does it even boot? At least to the fastboot?
Anyway, previously you said that you removed the battery. Did you tear up your Xoom?

Yes, it is very difficult to understand what happened in this case. No logo, no boot, no fastboot, is power off
Now (Volume up + Power) = Nothing, same black screen
Before (Volume up + Power) = Reset
Yes, I tear up my Xoom

Im afraid i could not give you further suggestion other than removing sdcard and trying booting it up again with any means or keep pressing the volume up+power button for at least a minute. If it doesnt give you any good, well then sorry im done by this point.
Any history about the tablet? The one that pushed you to tear up the device maybe? What happened before the tablet's gone weird?

[HELP] Bricked phone

Hey please experts help me with my galaxy 3 i just bought one i had it 1 day, battery was discharged and after i charged it i got bootloop I tried many roms and i always got : bootloop, boot screen with GT-I5800 or screen Kernel panic upload mode. I cant go into recovery mode i dont know hy it dont works (its vol+,vol -, home, power isnt it?) I cant root it i cant do anything. Anybody have some ideas what to do or its bricked? If its important i can still go into download mode and flash it using Odin thats all i can do with this phone. Pls heeeelp.
P.S.
Its not like that i dont red the forum i sited here many hours and still i didnt find solve of my problem. I guess i am too dummy ;/ I will be graceful sboody ?: (
Here comes help!
Welcome to the forum, btw
First thing you should do is hold on a little bit.
To solve your problem try to get to download mode (VOL-, HOME, POWER, then after phone turns on, release power) and flash Kyrillos' ROM (FROYO - v9.0) - fire up odin, tick one package, select tar and flash it. AFTER the flashing ends, you should boot up to recovery (CWM recovery for G3MOD kernel). Here, navigate through menu using VOL+, VOL- and navigate to "Wipe data/factory reset" option. Now press HOME button to confirm. Navigate again to Yes, press HOME again and wait till its done.
Now Navigate to "Reboot" or something like that - its the first option in there. Then press HOME again. You should see the phone rebooting and then displaying the bootanimation - it lasts for aprox. 10-20minutes, so don't panic!
If this wont solve your problem, give me more info
- New or used phone - THIS IS ABSOLUTELY IMPORTANT TO KNOW BECAUSE IF YOU HAD NEW, YOU HAD 2.1 FIRMWARE ON IT
- Did you wipe data/factory reset phone
- What else you tried?
- etc, etc...
There will be solution somewhere... I'm sure. But post the result after trying that.
PS: here on xda is a little THANKS button... Use it instead of "THANK YOU" posts. (Just in case you didn't know)

Thank u very much man phone was used but it had 2.1 stock firmware on it, i didnt wipe/ factory reset on phone, and i didnt't tied sthing else.
Now tell me after flashing Kyrillos' rom v9.0 Do I have flash kernel with CWM or its in Kyrillos already? How to enter CWM recovery mode ? Same as normal (VOL +, VOL-, HOME, then POWER) I did thank u cuz it sounds logical what u wrote thank u man and I am waiting for reply.
CWM is pre-installed on Kyrillos rom. To boot into CWM recover just turn the phone on, hold the power button until a menu comes up and in the menu it will say recover. Press recovery to go into recovery mode.

Turn your phone off by pulling the battery out. The put the battery back in but don't turn the phone on. Hold the volume up + volume down + home button + power button and as soon as the screen turns on, let go of the button. This will take you into CWM recovery. Then, in recovery, select wipe data/ factory reset, then wipe cache and then wipe the dalvik cache. These options are all in recovery and are easy to find. Then reboot the phone and it should work. Also you don't need to root your phone to flash a custom ROM.

You probably have confused Samsung galaxy 3 with Samsung galaxy S3 because this phone (Galaxy 3) Hasn't menu that you can boot to recovery/bootloader with. At least I dont know about such "menu" thing.
---------- Post added at 03:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:01 PM ----------
----------------------------------------------------------------------- SOLUTION! ---------------------------------------------------------
@KamelusPL: You said that you cant boot after flashing Kyrillo's ROM v9.0. And you had Android 2.1 and you couldn't boot. That means you have been in hurry to get things really fast done and flashed FROYO ROM WITHOUT BOOTLOADERS OVER 2.1 THAT COMES WITH ITS OWN TYPE OF BOOTLOADER = bricked.
HOWEVER, there's a solution! yeah!
This is a bit risky, but if you want your phone working again, you must do that. I'm saying again, I take no responsibility over such things.
1. Put your phone into download mode. This must be working.
2. Download this file: http://hotfile.com/dl/132526357/46bd186/I5800XXJPS_OXX_Android_2.2.rar.html
3. Open odin, tick ONE PACKAGE, in the down right corner click ONE PACKAGE and select .tar file you downloaded. ITS WITH PROPER BOOTLOADERS - FROYO XXJPS. That must work.
4. Click start. NOW DO NOT TOUCH YOUR PC until its done!
5. Wait till its done and wait till your phone boots up.
6. If you will have still bootloop, then you must boot into recovery (YOU MUST WAIT... RECOVERY WONT SHOW IMMEDIATELY just like in download mode... wait man.), here navigate using the same keys I told you before, and select wipe data / factory reset, then select yes and wait till its done. Then, navigate to wipe cache partition, select yes and wait till its done. Then, select reboot system now and press HOME.
7. This should be working!
This menu! Recovery is the second last option and I have a galaxy 3...
Edit: also I would recommend doing what the Guy above said. To boot into download mode you hold volume down + home button and the power button.

Wait, so when you bought your phone yesterday the battery was discharged? So you didn't check if it was working or not before you bought it? Maybe you were scammed into buying a broken phone

Click thanks if I helped.
Any other way to enter the recovery? I'm afraid not.
Maybe this has somethig to do with flashing CUSTOM FROYO ROM over 2.1. Because Kyrillos' ROM's kernel converts filesystems to other ones than the stock RFS that is used by stock samsung roms. That means the phone after flashing stock rom directly after some custom froyo roms dont recognize the partitions in different filesystems. So you must wipe data and cache partition to get the phone to recognize theese partitions again.
After that, the phone will boot. BUT YOU MUST BOOT IT TO RECOVERY AND WIPE DATA SOMEHOW.
This is really wierd... If you can go to download mode, I'm sure this can still be fixed somehow, but the stock froyo rom should boot into recovery anyways...
Have you tried getting to recovery when you first saw the phone that its not booting? I mean at the beggining of this problem if you had still 2.1 when you got the phone? Because wiping data from recovery on 2.1 should have solved this problem I think...
EDIT: HERE IN XDA IS SOME FILE - zerofill.tar THAT IF YOU FLASH IT, YOU PROBABLY GET WIPED PARTITIONS, but not sure... TRY THAT - I think rkoby13 has posted this file somewhere... Try to PM him...

U have absolutly right that they to solve this is enter recovery mode but i think my problem is deeper i found something on my own. Look.
If your GSII has the folowing symptoms :
Bootloop
Stuck on GSII logo, but already removed the battery to try to fix it
Enters Download mode and Recovery mode
It means that you are soft bricked and is easy to solve.
But if your symptoms are the mentioned above, PLUS the symptoms below
Enters Download mode but does NOT enter recovery mode (usually means a NAND rw corruption)
Doesn't flash
Bad flash in odin (FAIL after flashing, or the flashing suddenly stops)
It looks like I must use all my brain power to solve that i guess i need to go deeper into android stuff cuz i wont give up. I even gave my phone to service but seems like that dude is lame and he is not so much expert like i need i send message to Kyrillos cuz i guess he knows all bout androids and all that stuff and thats the person who i need some1 very good must see my topic guess i will just read learn and w8 for help thank u all for advices
After watching your youtube video I am confused. You try to get in into recovery, but don't even wait 10 seconds before you remove the battery?
Before you start make sure the battery is not empty or even broken. Charge until it reports full.
Battery out for a while, remove charging cable. Then battery in, press Vol+ and Vol-, add Home, then Power, as soon as something appears onscreen let go all three. Then WAIT. What happens?
If it stays on the GT I5800 screen for longer than a minute on a stock Eclair AND stock Froyo (from twinky's advice), you probably have a serious hardware issue. Did this device you bought ever work properly for you? That's important. If you really bought a phone that you never saw working, it's most likely hopelessly dead. If it worked, and showed the reported error after a day, there might be hope.
edit: I had countless bootloops/flash FAILs/tons of FC after 1st boot/corrupted FS... don't give up! As long as download mode is still accessable, it's not dead yet!

Dude u rly think i am so stupid?
Phone was working when i bought it i suspect that some sort of application crashed it( i guess taskkiller), i did tried to take out battery for longer time even 1 day ... And i did tried to hold buttons longer
Its bad flash that has made the situation...
Flash zero fill.tar which will clean your system
Flash again a rom using 'Forced download mode' ( vol+, home, power button)
Note: you should restart your phone by keys when its still on after zero fill flash using the force download keys.

Sorry, I was just telling from the video. But a software like taskkiller cannot mess up the whole phone in a way that prevents access to recovery.
Try cleaning the ROM like in above post and then flash a bootloaderfree stockrom. That should leave you with a perfect situation to start all over again.
Hi,I don't know if the word "bricked" or "drowned" is the best match for my case, but anyways here is my story:I had installed on my phone the kyrilos rom,I don't remember wich version excactly it has been too long before. My phone fell into a glass of water,I pulled battery out, dried it up with hair styler, after that it had some water marks on the screen and it was working quite good,I re-flashed it abd worked better, the watwr marks on the screen dissappeared and got better...but...my girlfriend reebooted accidently in recovery and it dropped dead, froze,I pulled the battery out, reebooted, and after that I am stuck in phone's logo and it keeps loading nothing ..forever..and I can't even boot to recovery mode..any ideas?I've searched in this blog and I couldn't find anything to do..please help me..

[Q] Probably bricked P3113 - Need Confirmation

So, been running CM10 for a long time on tab. Decided to go back to stock, and downloaded the JB stock rom. Flashed via ODIN. Everything seemed to go OK, except that after the flash the screen went black for ages, and didn't reboot. So I hard powered it off. Probably what did it, but it wasn't going anywhere for about 15 minutes, so figured it was the next step.
Now, I get the battery charging icon. The system goes through the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 white logo, the swirling then glowing Samsung logo, and then loops through that forever.
It wouldn't be such a problem if I could back into ODIN and do another flash, but I can't get into download mode (normally I do it via adb but that isn't working since there is no USB connection at all). Tried all combinations, power/up, power/down etc. It just boot loops as above. I'm pretty sure I bricked it, but just wanted some confirmation.
Been doing this on and off for a long time, and it's the first time I've ever got stuck like this.
Thanks in advance.
Plug USB charger, your device will boot into charge mode. From charge mode you can boot into recovery by keep holding VOLUME UP button and than press POWER button. Clear data and cache in recovery, reboot.

Thanks, but I tried all combinations of Power/Volume UP and Power/Volume DOWN, it just goes through a normal boot cycle until it starts looping.
I guess it's possible I'm not using the right timing. I'm assuming that you hold Volume UP or DOWN and then press and hold Power until the screen goes black, and then release? I've done it like that many times, and also continued to hold everything down as the logo appears, and then system goes back to the battery charging icon as if it powers off again. I sound like such a noob when I type stuff like that!
I saw ODIN successfully write system.img, boot.img, and recovery.img, so I'm thinking any CWM recovery I had on there is toast.

You must pull usb cable before start.
You can try to re-flash.

Well, don't I feel like the idiot!
How did I not think to disconnect the USB before trying this? tuxafgmur, your first "Thanks" has been registered, I've got it from here!
P.S. Welcome to the forum!
it sounds strange. never heard of such a strange boot problem. anyway it could be that while transferring boot.img it became damaged due to some error. i know you probably tryed but you may try and connect it to linux or mac os x in order to check if you could retrive more data about the tab. for example the mac could find if it is totally corrupted. normally when i plug my samsung devices it ask me to add the samsung-modem also if they are turned off. meybe if it happens the same to you you can try to adb fastboot it also if i doubt myself about it working, but give it a shot
i hope my bad english is not preventing you to understand what i'm saying!

[Q] Have I bricked my tablet

Hi there,
The other day I was on TWRP and tried to flash an ASUS update file (probably didnt really know what I was doing). Anyway, the flash failed.
I then thought I ought to wipe the OS and restore to a backup. I got as far as wiping the OS when the battery died.
The next day I turned the device on and a progress bar appeared but didn't get anywhere. Frustrated, and aiming to reboot into TWRP, I turned off the tablet.
It now will not turn on.
So...Hard brick?
I will have to send this thing off to Asus otherwise.
Many thanks, reply much appreciated.

Bump. Any quick reply would be welcome, I think I've been a noob so sorry if this thread makes you want to smash your head into the keyboard. I hadn't flashed anything for ages so was a tad rusty.
When I plug the transformer into the computer the led on the power button comes on, but the transformer will not power on.
Any ideas?
Many thanks

You should still be able to get into recovery even with a bad wipe/flash, but your battery is drained. You need to plug it into the wall charger and let it charge and then boot directly into recovery.
Once you are there, you should be able to flash a ROM.
I'll give that a try

Hi there,
I charged the tablet over night and the LED was showing as it was charging.
However, it still will not turn on.
When I connect the tablet to the computer the computer eventually recognizes that something is connected but deems it to be corrupted.
Any ideas?
Many thanks
Did you boot into recovery like I instructed?
Boot into Recovery Mode. You can do this by pressing and holding down the Volume Down and Power buttons until you are greeted with a message saying “Press Volume Up to enter RCK (5S)”. In less than 5 seconds, press the Volume Up button to enter Recovery Mode.

Hi, it will not boot at all.
However, when I plugged it into the computer and did so, the computer made a beeping sound therefore recognizing a device was attached after I had pushed down the power button and volume down. On one occasion, it recognized an asus device was connected, and so I proceeded to install the correct driver and so installed 'asus bootloader' or whatever it was called. This didn't seem to change anything so I deleted the driver intending to install Asus ADB bit so I could perhaps force a boot from the computer. However, after uninstalling the driver the computer stopped recognizing the tablet beyond 'APX'.
Any ideas?

Bricked Phone?

I went out partying last night, woke up to a crack on my nexus 5 and wouldnt turn on but the led would flash red. I figured it lost its charge. Charge the phone for few hours, phone would turn on and off right away as if it still were not charged. It would than shut off but restart to a screen that said Firmware Update- Please wait while it installs- B100. Nothing would install, it would stay at 0%. So I held the power button and now, it only turns on to the google sign and keeps looping from there. I tried to turn it on in recovery mode but that doesnt work either. My phone was never rooted, bootloader never unlocked and I never put it in debugging. I dont know what to do!
so the ol' 3-button combo doesn't get you to the bootloader?
Yes, it does. Forgot to mention that.

I don't know what you did, but your phone is not bricked. Hope you have a recent backup. If you can get into the bootloader I'd try a factory reset in recovery. If that doesn't work then you're going to have to unlock the bootloader and try to flash the factory image. None of this may work as idk what you did to your phone, but this is what I'd do.
Is flashing a factory image/unlocking bootloader possible even tho I can't get into the settings menu to turn on debugging option?

Yes, adb and fastboot are not related.

Are there any guides you all might suggest that are easy to understand?
Ask your friends what happened last night. Sounds like a good party

-Underpowered battery for a 5inch 1080p screen that is non-removable. Weak generic antenna that drops signal. Worst speaker of any device on the market. Cheap plastic build

Alright, here. The catch-all solution: flash the factory image as in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513701.
Just remember to cd to your adb directory, I made that mistake and almost fainted because I thought my device was totally broken when fastboot devices listed nothing.

If that's the case it sounds like you may have knocked something loose internally when whatever happened that caused the damage to your screen. Possibly a solder point or a cable coming loose.
Opened up the back cover, looks like condensation.....ill leave it alone for a few days and try again.
Reset

Did u do another factory reset after last flash as this may need doing on some phones from what I've watched on good old YouTube...Good luck..
^Why would he factory reset when the phone is wet? You'll short circuit it that way..
The only method of a factory reset I've read about was turning on in Recovery, waiting for the little android, and holding Vol + and Power. Thing is my phone would never get to the little android, just loop on the GOOGLE introduction. Is there another method to factory reset?

Turn your phone off. Then hold power + vol down. It should boot into the boot loader. You'll see a "start" Then use the vol rocker to toggle to recovery. Once there push the power button. You should be in recovery. Then use the vol rocker to toggle to factory reset. Then use power to select it.

Thats the method I'm unable to use...I was hoping there might be a string of code I could type into a command prompt being that I can only turn on the phone into the boot loader.

Try
fastboot reboot recovery
Edit, sorry that's not going to work. Find the stock recovery image. Then try
fastboot boot recovery.img
So I was able to boot in recovery and factory reset, although the problem still persists. I will try and flash all images tomorrow. Thanks for all the help! Happy holidays!

hard bricked my MT-TL10

Hi there,
Kindly help... I successfully installed B512 on my TL10 using force upgrade method, afterwhich I changed recovery to TWRP 3.0.2 using mobopx v2.2, which was also successful. And then I installed SuperSU 2.46 via TWRP, then cleared cache/dalvik. But upon rebooting system, I get a blank screen, even after waiting for more than 15 minutes.
And so I tried going to TWRP (Vol+ and power), which was successful, in order to boot to bootloader, with the intention of loading back the stock bootloader via adb, so that I can force install B512 from my microSD card again. It seemed to install fine...
However, at this point, I cannot reboot to bootloader (Vol- and power) anymore, I only get blank screen. Trying recovery (Vol+ and power) doesn't work either. Rebooting normally gives me the same. I cannot by any means connect via adb now.
Is there any way to unbrick my phone at this point?
Thanks so much. Cheers.

What happens when you do a Vol up + power?

The phone "doesn't want to turn off" bro. It has fully discharged, but as soon as I plug the charger in, it immediately powers up. When it does, now it shows the Huawei logo. But it's stuck there, and if I press the power button for a few secs, it will power down, but immediately power up again...

Let it get fully charged first. Then remove the charger and keep the Vol up and power button pressed for ~10 secs or more, and see where it takes you.

Done bro. Although I must say, I'm kinda back like yesterday when the phone is just helplessly discharging until it drops dead. Pressing vol+ and power restarts the phone, but I'm still stuck at the logo...

You seem to be in a sticky situation bro. Your recovery seems to be broken because in stock recovery Vol up + power should ideally take you to recovery and not restart. If you could somehow boot into fastboot mode then it could open up some options to bring your phone to life.
With no way to connect to the phone the only options left are the hardware buttons. I am sure you'd have tried them already, but just in case you have not, try the other 2 key combinations also, Vol down + power and Vol up + Volume down + power, for ~10 secs, to check if any of these either forces a factory reset or boots the phone into fastboot mode.

Yes, I did. And I can't even boot to bootloader after all that... The phone only seems to charge, but is stuck at the logo.

Thanks bro, but that's what I did, or at least was planning to do. After rooting B512 via TWRP, the phone got stuck at the logo. And so I tried to install stock recovery, which it did, in order to reflash the stock ROM. But at this point I'm still stuck at the logo, and I can't access recovery and BL anymore. Thank you for this suggestion brother. I tried exactly as you described, however, the phone looks badly discharged, and while the screen was blinking/showing the red battery icon, it doesn't seem to want to charge. I waited around 5 minutes, but nothing seems to progress from here.
And so now, I moved the USB cable to a proper charger, and now it seems to be charging, with the LED light a steady red, and the screen the normal red circle with "0%" inside. It seems to be charging at the moment, although I really have to wait until it shows "1%" until I can surely say so.
One thing that's different now is that the phone hasn't turned on (by itself) yet. And at least this looks promising.
I'll let you know what happens in a while... Thank you!
