[Q] weird recharge behaviour - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Hello, I got this i9003 with some sort of problems. First of all it failed calling or receiving calls 60% of times, I opened it and sprayed with electric contact cleaner and that issue was solved. I flashed cm 10.1 and everything was working. I let it die on battery and when I plugged with original recharger to recharge the recharging process did not start. I left it plugged and after SEVERAL hours ( 9 hours) the recharging process started.
I can't explain this behavior, the battery is almost new, it has 3 months and is original. Any clue?

Why would you open up the device for cleaning if you can't make/receive calls? It was most likely a software problem.your battery problem, it seems, is mostly related to the opening up of device from what I gather.

the usb connector on the phone cuold be oxydized if it's not a software problem (are you on a stock rom or have any mod?)

To check the antenna contacts. After the cleaning the phone started working correctly. As for the battery I found out it is probably a defective wall charger as the phone recharges correctly through usb.

My phone beeps for no reason.

Can anyone tell me why my phone starts this rapid beeping, it started last night when I had it plugged in and an alarm went off saying unplug phone now, then again this morning and again just now. I tried to do the 3e rage in the cage fix last night and it failed could it have something to do with that

Wake up!! OMFG!!!!! Your phone is fully charged!!!! Its time to use it!!!!
That's how you know you have a good phone.
As alluded to above the phone (without a custom rom which turns it off) has an alert which turns the screen on and makes a sound when it is fully charged. Its annoying and is disabled in many roms. It asks you to unplug the charger to save power because chargers use a little bit of electricity Even if the phone is not connected to it.

So why have I had the phone 3 months and this just started last night? Never before

Also omfg...it does it while unplugged also,i think I know what a battery full notification sounds like.

Could be a corroded USB/charging port. Try a little contact cleaner. I've got two SGH-i917's that have had corroded USB ports. Anoying random beeps when I am not touching the phone. Sometimes repeating for about 10 minutes. The alert played is the same as the alert played when I plug the phone into a charger. That and the fact that the phones had charging problems (not getting a full charge) were clues. I also kind of wonder about the little sliding door over the USB port. Maybe it would have helped if I had used it, maybe not.
Good luck with your phone.

Ns4g ics battery charge

I'm trying to figure out if this problem is just my phone or an actual issue. I just got this phone 2 days ago from craigslist after being with the evo for almost a year. As soon as I got it, I rooted it n tried flashing ics roms themed and original leaked update. On every rom I flashed, the phone wouldn't recognize the charger or usb or it would tell me its charging but it would take 6 hours to gain 6% more battery? I also tried turning the phone off to charge but that didn't work either. Anyone know anything about this n what I did wrong or didn't do?

I've had the exact same problem, i bought a NS4g from craigslist that wouldn't charge or turn on without a charger being plugged in. Long story short, i eventually got it back from Samsung with the warranty being voided due to water damage. So i opened it up and found some oxidation resudue and cleaned it off by scrapping it off. Luckily it worked!!. For you it might just be the battery since it actually says 6%, try to replace with another battery or place the battery in the freezer for 5 mins and try it again.
I flashed the unofficial leak rom again n it charges now but it doesn't say its charging on the lock screen or on the battery icon, but in the system info it says its charging? I have never ran into this type of issue before?

Exact Same Problem
I was given ICS 4.0.4 via OTA update by google... It worked fine for like 2 months then exactly the same problem arises with my Nexus S i9023 (unrooted).
1. It's doesn't indicate on the lock screen that it's charging nor it indicates on the battery icon, however it does tells me that the battery is charging when I check the battery in the settings. This issue exists on both wall chargers and usb cable.
2. It doesn't asks me to mount mass memory of my Nexus S and my windows 7 machine says it cannot recognize the device..
I strongly suspects it's a bug in the ICS...
I would appreciate any help that I can get on this issue... but to be honest I read many threads here and I can't understand half of what people are trying to say, so I request to keep things a bit simple because I know nothing about how to root or flash or doing any other super geeky stuff ...
thanks
Some people have had luck just cleaning the USB port with a dry toothbrush and a can of compressed air. Might just be dirt. Worth a shot.
thanks mate,
Yeah, tried cleaning it with a brush... still no luck..

have you change you theme..? coz I think few themes is not supporting the charging icon. BTW if your phone is switched off then the charging icon come..?? also, have you checked in ICS also??
Try booting into cwm and mounting USB storage.... if this mounts then at least we will know that your USB port is fine.... if this doesn't work then your charging port may be damaged and you may have to take your phone to the service center
Proudly supporting Adam for CM team recognition
In CM, LPM (Low Power Mode) doesn't work yet. It means it loads the whole system when you plug in the charger. init cannot distinguish the two modes yet, I'm working on it.
Actually the battery isn't charging at all... Today I tried many times to charge, but only sometimes it charges while most of the time it doesn't charge...
I removed battery and kept it out for 10 mind and again tried to charge but same problem.. Sometimes only it charges..
And @pankaj it's not about theme... I changed and saw it...
And my point being if connecting charger to my switched off device turns it on by detecting the charger, the charging circuitry won't be broken.. So it seems software issue or battery issue..
Also yesterday I turned on purging of assets and kernel memory management on and also enabled zRAM to 18%..would that create such. Issue??

Charging issues on ICS
I am on BB ROM with Ardatdat 4.0 Kernel. For last few I am also facing some strange charging issues:
1. 9 times out of 10, the phone doesnt get charged using the charger.
2. However if gets charged using the USB cable connected to my laptop most of the times. Sometimes that too doesn't work but after couple of retries it starts charging
3. Sometimes even after disconnecting my charger, the icon shows that the phone is being charged.
4. Sometimes after disconnecting the charger/usb, the phone gives the beep which is heard when the charging starts. This happens multiple times and I have to shutdown the phone and remove the battery to stop this from happening.
These are really strange things that are happening to my phone.
I am thinking of flashing stock GB ROM and giving it to the service center. Is there something that I can try before I do that as I am not sure how long my phone will be there at the SSC?

Buddy SSC is the best option.
Same things happened to me till i visited the company owned ssc.
The normal ssc (not the company owned ones) had put a faulty jack which made me and my phone go beserk.
Go to a COMPANY OWNED SSC. Skilled staff, better spares and quick response and delivery.
Not the ones who have taken a dealership sort of thing. They just irritate you.

[Q] Red 'x' on Battery when Unplugged

I've had a look and can't find anything specifically matching my issue...
I've recently acquired a Tab 2 7.0 off eBay, and I've updated it from 4.1.1 to 4.2.2, the official upgrade. The Tab is stock and unrooted. I've been using the original travel charger to charge it (5v, 2A). There is no issue with charging, and the Tab discharges normally, it lasts about two days per charge.
My problem is that while the device is unplugged, there is a red 'x' on the battery. So the device for some reason thinks it's charging, but not getting enough power. In actual fact, because it is unplugged, it is getting NO POWER. With GSAM Battery Monitor installed, GSAM advises "Charging: Time to Full: Calculating - check back later".
There is no other issue with the Tab. Any idea what this might be, and if I can repair it myself?
Thanks for your help...
I did not have this kind of issue with my Tab since one year.
I think you should factory reset your tab which will solve your problem.

I have an original Galaxy Tab as well, so I will swap around the leads. As I say, there's no issue with charging, it's just the battery symbol when the Tab 2 is discharging. And it doesn't give me an estimate of time left before the battery drains.
I've already factory reset the Tab, but may try that again if there is no other way in a day or two...
Thanks for your suggestions.

OK I said that because my friend have same problem and I use the charger and cable from other tab and the X gone.

Even stranger...
When I plug the cable into the Tab, even though it is unattached to a power source, the red x disappears.
Then when I unplug it, the x returns.
To be clear, the cable is detached from the plug and carrying no power, at this point.
I tried a factory reset, no joy. I did try wiping the cache while in recovery but got an error.

Thanks, that would be a shame. As I bought it cheaply off of eBay, it's probably not under warranty any more, so I would have to pay Samsung for the fix - which kind of negates the benefit of the cheap deal from eBay...
Ohh.
I was also suffered from display issue out of the box fault.
My tab display is blinking very fast at 50% or less britness.
I requested to replace and give new but they did not give new and replace only display even though problem was not solved.
Finally i forgot that i have that kind of problem... Haha

Nexus 5 sometimes refuses to charge

So my Nexus 5 sometimes won't charge. For example, I plug it in at 5%, and after an hour, it is still at 5% or lower ,often even at 0%, so when I unplug it, it instantly turns off. Sometimes it charges fine to something like 20%, then it stops and battery slowly starts to discharge. There are days when it's perfect, absolutely no trouble. I should also mention that when it charges normally, the charger plug is warm-hot, when it doesn't charge, it's cold.

It's hardware. Either the cable, the charger, or the phones mini USB port.
Try a different charger and cable for starters.

Its the hardware, maybe the battery or something and its also happening to LG G2 (N5 brother), so LG's faults.
But Google posted oficcially some ways to fix it, you only need to power off the phone and plug it. Wait 30 minutes and then turn it on again, leave it charging and this time probably works.
It doesn't happen to often, but when it does, its really annoying.
I remember having this issue but only with wireless charging. Seems like an issue with the wire.
I had this issue with my Galaxy Note. It was actually a faulty chip on the motherboard that was causing my charging problems... None the less, I would first check your cable and then the micro USB port.
I have 3 chargers and 2 USB cables, tried all the possible combinations, nothing. What should I look for about the USB port?

My 5 year old daughters Galaxy tab 3 is the same. I can tell the plastic part of the mini USB port is snapped. So only the wires are holding it together. It will charge... But only when it's laying on a stable surface, untouched and sometimes I have to wiggle it til it's charging, then leave it alone til it's done.
Does it say it's charging? For me, even if it isn't charging but is plugged in, it says "Charging (AC)".
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Yeah, our tab makes the plug in noise over and over til it's good.
But just cause it says it's charging doesn't mean every pin is making proper contact with the charger or device.
I cleaned the phone's USB port with a toothpick and compressed air and so far, it's working all right again.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Oh well, it's doing that again. Charged 80% in 7 hours. Cleaning USB port didn't help.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
my N5 does this but with wireless charging..
sometimes i put it on when i go to bed, and i know it starts charging
in the AM i see its lower ... checking the batt stats it shows that it charged for a few mins then stopped
dunno yet whats up, it happens sporadically.
Any chance software could cause this? Rolling back to 4.4/4.4.x or resetting factory settings would help?

that could be next step.
if a factory reset doesnt help, then u have a hardware problem. Does the batt info says "healthy" or "good" for the battery?
have u tried using a toothpick to ensure all usb pins are clean of dust?
maybe u can get another battery and change it... if a cell is going bad inside the batt it can do that too

Where can I see battery info?
I have 1.5yrs of warranty left, there's no point for me to try and change the battery on my own.

Today it didn't charge, so I decided to restart. When I had just powered off, a fully charged battery icon came on the screen and stayed for about 15 seconds. Then the screen flashes black and started showing the charging battery icon.
Anyways, I am going to flash the phone back to stock when I have time, if that doesn't help then it's going back for repairs.

download CPU-Z as the simplest way to tell
go to the Battery tab and it will tell ya the "Health" of the battery. Mine says "Good"
Another trick is to buy a wireless charger. If this ever happens to me I'm doing that.
This has happened to me months ago and I tried everything. Turned off my phone to charge, tried different cables...nothing worked.
Then I started charging my phone with a blackberry charger and it has been successfully charging my phone ever since. And it charges faster than the original charger. When you plug the charger into the phone, it's very solid, whereas the original charger is somewhat flimsy. Not sure if that may be the case. But that's what I did!
Hope this helped!
