Hello!
I bought a said "unlocked and rooted" LG G2x P999GW T-Mobile used phone through Craigstlist. The guy had his own SIM on the phone and was working fine, he showed me and everything was great. When I get to Brazil, I try to put my SIM card (Tim network) in it and it won't work. It keeps saying "No service". The SIM card is fine, because I also have an Galaxy S2 that I bought internationally and it works on that phone.
I have tried:
- Clearing the cache
- Clearing the data
- Followed the steps of "How To Flash a Custom Recovery Image on the T-Mobile G2X" from Theunlockr
About the phone:
- Android version: 2.3.7
- Kernel version: 2.6.32.56-CM7- Faux123-049
- Mod version: CyanogenMod-HellFire Phoenix 2.2 (It came with this mod when I bought)
When I select "Wireless & Networks" -> "Mobile Networks" -> "Network operators", it says "Error while searching for networks."
Does anyone have an idea if I can fix this? Or anything else I could try?
Thank you in advance!

Sounds like the phone is just rooted and modded, which does not mean unlocked.
My best guess would be that it is still carrier locked to T-Mobile.

Device locking is done in the operating system, not the physical device. I have yet to see a custom ROM or ASOP to be sim locked.
Now keep in mind, the phone won't show APN's for other networks when you insert your SIM card. What is going on here is the device is reading your sim card to identify the provider then set the proper APN as default. To test if it's unlocked, try a different SIM in the device and see what happens.
Edit: I'm assuming you are talking about a SIM lock. If it's a lock of some other sort, please provide more details with EXACTLY what is going on.

Hello, first i want to thank you for your help.
My phone is unlocked for all providers except one provider(VIP).When i put (VIP) sim card,it says "emergency call only".I tried to Restore default APN,but when i press that it just says "Restoring default APN networks",after a while,it says it is completed, but still there it says"emergency call only".If i try to call anyone,it says Mobile network not available. When i go to "About Phone" menu, then "Status" it says:
Network-Unknown
Service state-Out of service
Roaming-Not roaming
Mobile network state-Disconnected
Other informations:
Model number-Nexus s
Android version-2.3.6
Baseband version-I9020AUCKF1
Build number-GRK39F
So this is it,my phone is locked to only one provider(VIP),if i put any other sim card provider(Tele2,BonBon,Tmobile...)the phone is working well,i can call anyone, text etc.Thank you in fowards...

This is NOT a sim lock. What is going on is that your phone has lost it's APN settings or is using the wrong modem. a sim lock means that your phone will only work with 1 provider, installing the SIM from a different provider will give you an error message similar to this: ‘SIM not valid’, ‘SIM locked’ or ‘SIM not accepted’
Since the phone is working on other providers, i would believe that the phone has lost it's APN settings for VIP. I would look up the APN settings for VIP and manually put them into the phone and go from there.
A quick search found a thread with the APN settings:

Good luck.

Try to flash another Radio. I never had luck with KF1, and quite frankly it kept me from getting any service at all for like 2-3 reboots after.
Try KD1, or KB3 (those work for me).
Reboot a few times, and see if it works.

Hi,
I am facing a similar issue. My Nexus S is running on 4.0.3 with baseband version I9023XXKI1 (Got it in UK, unable to use it in India). No matter what SIM I insert it stays in Out of service mode. Can you please suggest which Radio version I can flash to get rid of this issue? Please help!!
Hi, check this thread, it may help you:

Sorry if this has been covered somewhere, but I read through a lot of posts and none of them seem to be the same thing I am seeing.
I upgraded from the RemICS 1.3.1 to the JB v2 , and now my phone no longer sees any SIM card I put into it. I have tried multiple SIM cards, none of them work. I reinstalled back to froyo, and could see my SIM card. Then I went to gingerbread, could still see it, then I installed this ROM, and the SIM card is once again unavailable.
I have tried using a few different modems, but they do not seem to be making any difference. Any ideas?
This is what I see after I install the JB v2 ROM:
Model Number SGH-i897
Android Version 4.1.1
Baseband Version unknown

Yes, I was able to repeat the process. I went back to Froyo, then upgraded to GB, then to JB. Same issue.
I also want to clarify, I cleared all cache before installing each ROM. I also tried clearing cache after installing the ROM, but it made no difference. I even went so far as to use the advanced option for formatting the different folders /boot, /system, etc., then doing the reinstall from Froyo, but that made no difference either. I stopped short of formatting the entire internal SD card since I didn't think this was the problem.
Hello mate,
it happen the same for me. I solved the problem following the instruction in this link:
http://www.androidfamily.net/2012/0...g-galaxy-s-gt-i9000-via-remics-jb-custom-rom/
Once you have installed it, you can recheck the sim lock box. It workded for me.
Good luck!

Thank you! I will give it a try adding this step to the process. I am assuming it is the same even though mine is the i897 instead of the i9000. I'll report back on my experience.
Disable SIM lock of your Galaxy S GT-I9000 by going to “Settings > Location and Security > SIM Card Lock”.

I went into Settings > Security > and i see Set up SIM card lock. It is already disabled.
I was able to get it to work. WOOT!
I am not sure exactly what did it, but I think this is it...
Based on the SIM lock not being set, I decided to start messing around with it and I ended up locking the SIM using a key code from the number pad. Woops, didn't really mean to do that, but I was following some instructions on how to unlock the phone completely. Well, the only problem I had from there was I couldn't get the unlock code...I rebooted my phone and did a recovery. However, even after recovery, my phone noticed that something had changed with the SIM and I was prompted for a PUK code. Fortunately, you can get this from the AT&T website. So I logged in, did the code, my phone was now unlocked. I went into the settings and looked and the SIM card was now set to locked. I unchecked the box and unlocked it. Then I did the upgrade again and it worked this time.
Thanks again for your suggestion!
I have a LG Stylo 2 an it's doing the same how can I fix this it's showing no signal an no sim
Hi,
I recently got a Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 from my girlfriend which was locked to T-Mobile (it had been a contract phone). My contract is on Orange so I flashed an insecure kernel in Odin and used Samsung Quick Root to root the phone. I booted it up and managed to unlock (though i'm now not sure if this was a full unlock or some kind of soft-unlock, I don't know if that's even a thing - I used an app called "Galaxy S Unlock"). Anyway I tried sending a text just to make sure and it was fine. I decided to install CyanogenMod (latest version on the website), I did and all was fine. Then I was prompted to update on my phone so I did, halfway through it crashed and - being an idiot - I turned off the phone. After that I could only get as far as the Samsung logo when trying to boot and after that it would return to a black screen.
I did some Googling and decided to flash back to a stock ROM which worked and the phone booted fine. Now however, the phone asks me for the SIM unlock code (making me think this was a soft-unlock) yet I still get bars of signal but if I try to text or call I get the "Not Registered on Network" error. I've tried adding Orange's APN manually but it won't save, everytime I press save and go back into the APN it's blank. I've also tried to select the network using the "Select automatically" as well as trying both Orange and T-Mobile in the network options and simply get an "Unable to connect. Try Later" error. I've also tried to update through the phone and it says it's upto date. I'm currently running Android 4.1.2. The Baseand Version is I9100BVLS4 and the Kernel Version is 3.0.31-889555 with Build Number JZO54K.I9100XWLSY.
Could anyone give me any advice as to what to do? Thanks!

The Galaxy S unlocker mods the EFS folder and putting it back to stock might have messed up something. I would re-root and re-do the unlock. hope you have a copy of the original EFS partition before you started or that the app made a backup for you in case...
I have an S5 Sprint (G900P).
Bought and using it from outside USA.
And it was unlocked for international use.
I could use 2G and 3G on it.
But was unable to find and connect to 4G.
So in order to enable 4G, other than doing various things, I ended up reseting 'provisioning parameters to factory defaults' using ##72786#
Since then I am unable to use SIM.
It says, "Invalid SIM card"
Seems like I have lost unlock!
Now what options am I left with to make SIM work again on it?
Build number: MOAR v7.0 OA6
Software version: G900PVPU3BOK4
Android version: 5.0
Baseband version: G900PVPU3BOK4

you re-simlocked it. that factory reprovisioning thing you did undid the unlock process. Your options are to get the simunlock code from sprint and if the ROM asks you for the code when you put card in, unlock it that way. But if the phone doesnt ask you for an unlock code, youre likely gonna need the services of a 3rd party unlock company. there are a couple of members on here that have done some unlocks for free or with a donation to them. @stifilz and @asadnow2k. Otherwise, i personally recommend idoneapps.com
I recently bought a used Samsung Galaxy S10 (SM-G973F).
At first glance the phone was in excelent shape. The SIM Card was connecting to the mobile network, and calls, internet connection, etc was OK.
But then, I found out that the phone had been rooted. Probably, by the seller. In pannic, I rushed to unroot flashing the stock Rom.
Here what I did:
1- Forgot to check my precisly CSC code and assumed ZTA (cause I'm from Brazil, and the phone is from carrier "Claro")
2- Downloaded the stock rom using Frija
3- Using Odin 3.14.1 flashed the device.
The previous rooted system was on Android 10 and One UI 2.5. With this new rom went to Android 11 and One UI 3.0.
The problem:
The phone recognizes the SIM Card. But it simply doesn't connect to the network. When I try to make a call it says: " not registered on network"
The phone DO recgonizes the SIM Card. On the SIM Card Manager shows my carrier name (Vivo) and my phone number. Also, the SIM app is showing on the app list.
Things I tried:
Rebooting the phone
Changin the SIM Slot
Testing the SIM on another device to ensure it was working
Checked if the IMEI wasn't missing/undefined. It is not, the IMEI appears to be untouched
Checked if the IMEI had been blacklisted. It's not.
Flashed SEVERAL different stock ROMS with different CSC (ZTO, ZTA, ZVV)
Try to manually select the network. This also throws an error saying "error while searching for network"
I'm really desperate and don't know what to do anymore.
No one have a clue either? :C
Look inside here:
How to Fix 'Not Registered on Network' on Android
Here is how to fix 'Not Registered On Network' error on Android. Mostly error occurs on Samsung phones, but this solution works for all android phones.
www.android-recovery.net
Wow,
This is exactly like my S10 right now.
At first, all is good, the signal was great, all working well, except cant connect to samsung pass and samsung health because it was root.
then i brought to sellular shop service, to flash the phone.
Then, “not registered to network” happened. The signal ok, the phone able to read dual simcard, but “emergency call only” and if i try to search network manually, “error while searching for network”
And the sellular shop service have no idea how to fix after they reflashed and try to fix it for several days.
Have you found any solution to fix your pho?
pls advice…

So, were you able to find a solution for this problem? I also bought a Note 9 N960F/DS recently and found out it was actually a N960N model that was changed to N960F/DS. So I did exactly what you did, I flashed the original stock rom, N960N, but now phone will not connect to network. I also did hard reset, reflash other stock roms, nothing changed. Anybody with insight should please give us some pointers.
