Just cut my TM sim last night and popped it in my new US GSM model of the G. Working great, getting over 10mbps download. Really liking this phone so far, have had it 2 days.
Amusing how it only claims "3G" at the top of the screen, whereas non-LTE devices from TM usually call HSPA+ "4G".

For those on the Us model getting 3g what apn settings are you using? I am only getting Edge speeds.
Make sure to go into Settings > About Phone > Status .... and check what your "Mobile Network Status" is. It should state HSPA+. Even though the 3G icon may be displayed in the status bar.

I've used both fast.tmobile.com and epc.tmobile.com. Both gave me comparable speeds as long as the APN protocol was set to IPV4/IPV6

I'm adding this phone to my current T-Mobile account. Do I get a micro sim? It should be the same sim size as my nexus 5 sim, correct?

Yep, micro. I had a full-size T-mobile sim in my 2 year old AT&T phone, so I had to cut it. Worked out perfect. Really liking this G. Camera is sadly a step below my old Samsung 8mp, but everything else is a big upgrade.

I'm not a big camera phone guy. I don't take a lot of pics and when I do, I just need them good enough for Facebook or Twitter. I was impressed with the Moto G photo thread though.

Plenty tutorials on the internet on how to. They even have templates for you to use. I think I used one from cnet.com or you could just visit your carrier store and request a microSIM my buddy did that and they gave it to him free (T-Mobile)

so on verizon I got my sgs3 and activated successfully ..... so I thought. didnt notice 4g at any time, so called in to verizon and said that I have read a few posts of people not able to activate properly and I think my 4g is missing.
tier 2 rep didnt have the phone to look at and after an hour said it might be a bug, like one that was with the razor maxx. so I get to wait till today for a call back and them to tell me they dont know why Im in a 4g coverage area but not getting 4g....
fun times verizon thanks because being on the "better' network makes it all worth it.
I had to restart my phone after a while then 4g showed up.
I have the same issue. Activated 2 SG3's yesterday. Both are only showing 3G connection. I live in Tyler TX and I know we have 4G coverage. I talked to a rep yesterday and they pretty much told me the same thing. She said maybe there is an update coming to fix it.
They also had me pull the battery and reseat the sim card. Still no 4G

Same here, I'm getting spotty 4 g at best and the signal is **** when I do. My tbolt would have-79 at my house, my Sg3 gets -112 at its best. Just spoke to second level support and was asked to take the SIM out for a few minutes and try again. Same results as before. Here is a pic off my current status. Oh yeah- 32gb pebble blue here.

losing root was my first thought when rep mentioned the update. but in the end, one of the phones hugest points is 4g. Without that i can use another phone.
I have no issue with 4G, and haven't. I am also rooted and have been since it was announced.

I'm not sure what to say really. It could be everything from service problems, to the phone having issues, to Verizon working on the network... I mean, had you had a 4G device prior you could compare with?
Upon using my Straight Talk Nexus 5 with an AT&T sim, I noticed the data connection displayed LTE, which I've never seen before on Straight Talk. Is anybody else noticing this change? As far as I can tell on their website they still only support up to 3G speeds...I'm using the tfdata APN.
Here's pictures of LTE in the status bar as well as my speed test with two/four bars:

EDIT: after looking further into it I saw people have been getting LTE on the Nexus 5 with Straight Talk since the 15th of November withe new AT&T sim card and tfdata APN settings. I'm still curious however as to why LTE is just kicking in now instead of a month ago when I got the phone, with the same setup.
It's been a few months they started offering Lte service

ST has been supporting AT&T LTE since release of their "new" SIM cards which use the tfdata APN. Not knowing where you live, I suspect AT&T just rolled it out in your area.
Are you using the ST recommended APN settings, or have you modified them slightly as some websites recommend?
This.... The main reason I moved from Note to Nexus 5. Very quick. The other change they made recently is to be more clear on data usage. I think it explicitly states 2.5 GB now before throttling. Be careful with that LTE!

even if you were ever able to fully unlock a Sprint version handset, it may not support the bands needed to fully run properly on T-Mo's GSM network.
but search to see what bands (frequencies) your handset needs to support, to run on T-Mo's network. then call Sprint's customer support to help you unlock your handset for international use - say you're going to Europe for about a week and that you want to be able to use their SIMs.

which US GSM network are you using it on? i've already had my S6e unlocked a while back. since I also have service on both ATT & T-Mo networks, i have tried using a bunch of known working APNs (from my factory unlocked N5), but I haven't had any luck.
I tried going through the first several pages to see what APNs were used. however, I've seen the user 'iBowToAndroid' mention several times it won't work in the US. did that change towards the end of the thread. still a lot of pages to read through...

ok guys there will not be no lte but it can be unlocked but not through the thread my brother my friend @idone will quickly unlock it at a great price also but you will on have 3g but it is still fast if i was helpful click thanks http://idoneapps.com/
If you look in Settings>About Device>Status> it will show the actual data network type you are connected to.
HSPA and HSPA+ will be working, and for T-Mobile if the towers in your area have been upgraded for LTE on 1900mhz LTE will work also.
The phone will just always show a "3G" icon in the StatusBar when in GSM/UMTS mode, it can be changed with a build.prop edit, but then it will always show 4g instead.
But do check here Settings>About Device>Status>
You will get more than 3G

This is tested only in SM-G935F, if you have other variant you can try it.

Well the people(including myself) use this when they have more wcdma signal than lte, the phone will select the wcdma network, that is more slow than lte, but you know you have lte signal so you can force it to use your lte internet that is fastest than wcdma.
For example in my home my phone keep changing from wcdma to lte all the time and that makes my internet super slow. My internet speed in auto mode is like 1mbs of download with full signal, when I force Lte only my signal is like one bar of signal but the internet speed increases to 25 Mbs of download
So when I don't need to make calls I force lte only to download things faster

Unless provider has volte option in the network, it's not possible to make calls on a 4g network
its useless like tits on bull. Its only for cosmetic look only. You can flash the ATT CSC to get "LTE" icon. http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/utility-flashable-csc-selection-30-t3392957...
I don't under stand. If You select LTE only via this application, You can't make a calls. Without if phone choose manually LTE, You can browse and make a calls? Can You explain to me that matter?
Hi guys I'm new to this so bear with me if you please x)
I have a month old S7 Edge that does not appear to have VoLTE, I'm guessing it has something to do with this beeing Norway and the phone for some reason is hungarian?
Seeing as this thread is about forcing LTE and my provider has VoLTE option on the network. Will forcing LTE fix my problem without making me brake the warranty conditions?
The technical support guy at the store where i bought it said that his boss might not give me a new S7 Edge or even pay to get it fixed.
I'm not what you would call wealthy so i'm kinda f***** if they suddenly say that they will fix it and I've broken warranty conditions ^^
If you think this fits better in another thread please point me in the right direction =)
thx =)
Hmm.. im gonna try this on my wife's A36 tomorrow, see if its work. If it does then i can use samsung again coz in my country the operator give 10GB of bonus only in 4G network. But in some area 4G is bad :v I had to use lenovo coz its able to 4G only.
thanks for the app

Well, once your sim goes into a phone that phone will show up on your account. Then you need to go to my devices and then apps and services and add HD voice. You might need to upgrade your sim too.
I don't mind helping out but I'm trying to find out if anyone has been able to get band 4 on their U11. Each thing I've said you negate it like you know the answer. This thread was specifically made for my question.

I bet Verizon says it is because the phone was not certified by them and as such they don't guarantee any features to work and blah blah blah when in reality it is probably their computers automatically unchecking a box on your customer record to guarantee the system will never let your device utilize the features

Well that sucks. That means lower speeds, another crippling of a great phone.

I've received my answer on band 4 and Verizon. It's not working and may never work.

Come on brother, don't leave us in suspense, where did you get the info.
I've downloaded the LTE Discovery app onto my HTC 10 and I'm trying to use it to see if there is Band 4 around my area, before I try out the U11.

Post #99 in the Verizon thread.. He posted a bunch of info on communications with HTC, Verizon, and AT&T.
Really slow lte on mine too..looks like only band 13
Band 13 only here in Virginia.
Band 13 in Syracuse. Went back to my 10 and getting 4 consistently.
Stuck on band 13 here in Columbia, SC too. Band 4 works fine on my old One M8. HTC support has been extremely unhelpful. They keep pushing me off on Verizon. If this isn't sorted out before my return window is up this thing is going back.
"Thanks for the account verification. The HTC u11 is not capable with LTE Advanced https://t.co/JueO1hTCbK. Since this is a non-Verizon device, we can not guarantee that all features will work when comparing to a Verizon device. ^ZY
In order to use LTE Advanced, the device will need a carrier update. The HTC u11 may not be able to get the update since it is a non-Verizon device. Verizon LTE Advanced-capable devices already have the necessary hardware and software. LTE Advanced uses software to combine two or three channels – a combination of 700 MHz, AWS, and PCS spectrum to provide peak speeds. ^ZY"
Guys this is what i got after talking to VZW CS

Same here in Miami. Only Band 13, when my s8+ used Band 4 in the same areas.
