After flashing Jb leak 3 last week, i am facing wifi/3g radio issues.
My network has got really unstable, and it keeps on fluctuating. After some random time, my network sort of hangs and i have to enable flight mode/restart to get network again.
Wifi also has got really very bad. I get less than half the normal speed i used to get before.
Is there a fix for this? I really love jb leak. Its clean and fast.
Can i flash radio.img of my previous rom on jb leak?
My phone: MB865 Indian version. ME865 after jb leak 3.

Well, here goes.
I've been reading alot for quite a while, and learning everything I could around this place. Thanks to tall who contribute.
I'm running NScollab, 1.0.42, with matrix 8.0 kernel.
Currently on the XXKB3 baseband.
Following this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884
I tried flashing the new KF1 radio for the nexus S. No luck. Either is doesn't flash at all ( status 6 error ) or when it does ( the signed version can be flashed in CWM ) no signal whatsoever. I've tried everything, changing the band, ( *#*#4636#*#* ) rebooting 45 times, dalvik wipe, changing type of radio, all guides, searched google, this website ( for a whole week ).
Nothing came up.
I'm posting, because this is pretty much last resort. I actually tried the KF1 radio on Miui, devnull, oxygen, and NScollab.
Telus users out there, what is your baseband ? What radio gives you the best signal and performance ? I know koodo switched to KF1, but I can't get it to work on my NS.
Any help is appreciated !
still noone ?
Darn.

I use KB3 for koodo(telus). I get signal... and it works.
I'm curious as to whether KF1 would be a better radio for us, or if it even works for Telus/Koodo. Anybody know?

I have a Telus Nexus S in BC and I just installed an OTA update to 2.3.6 / GRK39F / I9020AUCKF1 and the KF1 radio seems to be working fine. I've been able to call around and MMS without issues so far. (about 2 hrs) Not enough time spent with it to tell you if it gets better reception or not...
I acutally installed the OTA pacakage in order to go back to stock as I was getting sick of the Search Bug that has been plaguing my phone for ages and I was going to bring it back for warranty work, but it appears the flash of the radio to KF1 that was included in the package has resolved the Search Bug!
Sweet! So, I might stick with this for a bit to confirm it is gone and and if all is well, I guess there's no need to return the phone for service!
I have the same issue on koodo. Flashed ICS and I get reception with KF1 downtown but barely anything at home and it used to be great.
I'm running the UCKF1 radio on my telus NS, on cm9 + matrix 14.5. With my phone, it was impossible to flash the radio with CWM, it would flash, but could not get on the network. I had to use fastboot to flash the radio.
In my experience, XXKB3 and XXKD1 were definitely the fastest radios (no upload cap), but my connection was unstable, needing occasional reboots to reestablish connection if I ever lost reception. UCKF1 has been rock solid for me. (I'm in the Toronto area)
Also, for some reason I only started getting the search bug with ICS and XXKD1, but UCKF1 fixed that.

Ok..I always try to figure it out by searching the forums...could not get there this time. I had Humbles rom on the phone...then I realized I should update my Baseband...so the mission starts.. I started on Basband ep3 on both the first and second lines..after reading it sounded like I needed to flash back to stock to get the update to ee4....I first deactivated voodo by adding the file directly ...reset phone then waited while the sexy voice said it was deactivated... then I flashed the stock rom...when I powered up the the phone on stock ...it did download the update...while installing the update it crashes and does not install correctly...so after messing around I re-flashed the stock rom and then downloaded the update again.....same thing happened.....then after reading some more I thought maybe my partitions where jacked so I flashed charge.pit ...now my phone wouldn't even show signs of life...stressing a bit ....I was able to flash Hummble 4.0 which brought my phone back to life...happy that it is working I'm now back where I originally started but now I'm on Ep1...even worse than before I started..lol
Does anyone have any ideas why it would not update? any help would be great!
Ep3 is the newest radio version. Ep1 is the second newest. And ee4 is the oldest. So you were really trying to unupdate. You are fine with the ep1 modems. But if you want to upgrade flash the ep3h radios through Odin.

Here ya go - EP3 Modem
The only reason you ever need to go back to stock is if you want to "unroot" your phone or to fix soft bricks. The baseband version corrosponds to the type of radios your phone is running (how you get your signal). And the radios are always independent of your ROM. Here's a short overview of the different radios from beginning to present.
ED1: Original charge modem. (sucked).
ED2: still sucks.
EE4: Latest official update for the droid charge. This is the radio that most Froyo Roms are based off of.
<I'm going to skip over a few because they are kind of non-existant now>
EP1Q: A leaked Gingerbread Radio. Significant improvements in signal strength.
EP1W: Improves upon EP1Q radio by handling data switching better. (A lot of Gingerbread ROMS are based off of this radio).
EP3H: The newest radio and probably the best. Some small improvements in data switching and got rid of occasional "popping" sounds from EP1W radio. Most of the newest ROMS use this radio as a base (Meaning they are optimized to use this radio).
Long story short, use the latest Radios. They always bring improvements. =)
I've been using VirtuousICS with pretty much terrible battery issues (drains, wrong value, random battery drop) so I went back down and flashed Android Rev HD 3.611.
Im still getting a really weird battery issue however, 4ext read my battery was at 23% I restarted the phone and then it read that it was fully charged.
I thought it was the Kernal but with the new flash the kernal was changed so it cant be that
I've gone into clockwork and deleted the battery values, so im thinking now is that its the ICS firmware that im still running which is plaguing my battery.
Does anyone know if I can go back down to a gingerbread firmware that I can run instead of my current ICS firmware?
I had these issues with the GB firmware, so I'd be careful. May not resolve the issue.
Have you tried the latest 4.0.3 ICS firmware?
I found reflashing a new version of recovery fixed these issues for me on GB.
Not yet, can I have a download?
and I just flash and then remove from Sd right?
Title says it all. Long story short I need the ICS Modem in CWM zipable or quick instruct how to flash with odin..OR know if I can flash a ginger modem in my creamsandwich..
THanks
I don't believe so.
Why would you want UCLA3?
The new ICS rom comes with a newer version of the modem called UCALC4. I don't think there's any reason why you would go back to LA3.

UCALC4 increases my network speeds. You shouldn't flash the old radio it is pointless

What did you do to mess up your modem??? If you want to easily fix your phone the best thing to do is go into download mode and re-install ICS with odin. That will reflash the stock ICS radio
I am also looking for the ICS modem files
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24099193#post24099193
Apologies if this counts as thread-jacking
I flashed UCLA3 Kernel with hopes to OC ICS to the hilt..Idiocracy I know.. Well the 3Kernel Bootlooped me so I got help in the form of the ICS Kernel in CWM flashable and fixed my loopboot but then noticed that my baseband was blank or said unknown and there were no 4g lte or bars on top so I wanted to flash a modem.
I eventually reflashed the whole package and put 5 hours+ setting up ICS to waste...Exactlly what i wanted to avoid.
I noticed the Modem has been posted a few places now btw
I think this is something that should be looked into.
Obviously, just like every other aspect of this phone, some people will report better performance with the new ICS modem. If that's you...good for you! But there will be some of us that do not get better performance. I work in an area that has way better performance and connectivity with the UCLA3 modem. For me, the ICS modem is a throwback to the pre-UCLA3 modems. I've read that others have similar bad results with both towers and Wifi. And, with poor connectivity comes poor battery life!
So, I am now wondering:
A. Is (has) anyone been able to use the UCLA3 modem with the new ICS leak or ROMs?
B. Would it be possible to modify the UCLA3 modem (if it doesn't already work) so it can be used with ICS?
Thanks. The more options we can come up with to help everyone get the most out of their SkyRocket, the better off we will all be.
Try This

uses
UCLA3
will still show up as UCLA4 under settings. Be sure to thank the poster and mention if you see a boost in performance.
I tried it because of the data issues with ics that i had. Lost all data after i flashed and was baseband unknown.

ICS Modem Files - WORKING UCAL4 Modem
near the end of the thread LeeC has posted a new UCLA3 modem that's shows up under baseband as ucla4 but is old ucla3 modem, which DOESN'T have data connectivity issues
I have two questions 1) is my only way to fix this to go back to stock ICS using ODIN? 2) Once i get back to that, what do i do in order to get to a working version of JB? is it as simple as trying another ROM? Is it ok to skip ICS and just flash another version of JB?
Background if you want it....
Followed vincon guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1773659
Started with Stock ATT 4.0.4
CWM via odin
baseb: UCLI3
I flashed JB [ROM] [4.1.2] [UCLL3] Stock Debloat to my i727 last night. Everything went seemingly smooth, everything worked with a strange exception being my exchange account wouldn't authenticate.Today my service is off about 95% of the time, then it will come on and ill get a text or two, then it goes off. voice calls dont work at all. LTE data is hit or miss.WiFi works
In phone status under network type its toggling: UTMS:3 to HSPA:11 to HSPAP15 to no service...then it drops everything and service state will say out of service and disconnected.
My IMEI is correct, I confirmed that.
It tried dialing the *#*#XXXX#*#* thing, that just said no connection and ended.
I started to go down the path of looking to flash a new radio, but that just doesn't seem like the answer to me... obviously the risk of me being wrong is high. i did check the MD5 numbers on other radios though and they came back as mismatched, so i did nothing there.
Also i wiped cache 3 times, as well as dalvek
Is there a simple solution that Ive missed or do i need to go to stock via ODIN? What, if anything, did i do wrong>
If you didn't flash corresponding UCLL3 baseband - AFAIK intermittent service is expected.
If you need to flash baseband - flash the latest UXUMA7 baseband.
Well i've actually had the exact same problem, in several variations and on several androids and here's my conclusions:
1 Magnetic storms and grid issues with the carrier. There's not much to do about these, except maybe for a making a tin hat for your phone. But, on a second thought this would also kill the signal
2 If the issue persists for more than a couple of days then the other thing for me was = radios that just didn't work with my carrier or rom. Changing these showed instant results.
I actually had this exact problem but for me it was on the carrier end. I tried every ROM and radio out there to no avail. After about a month and my parents also experiencing the issue, we called the carrier and they had it fixed in about two weeks.
