Hi Guys,
ROM Details : CM 10.1 (JB 4.2.2)
Kernel : stock CM 10.1 Kernel
Warranty status : Out Of Warranty
Problem: I accidentally dropped my phone today. First it didn't start. However, I could make it work by reinserting the battery. But now, the phone does not charge when turned on. It's charging in LPM i.e. when powered off and connected to the charger. When connected to the PC via the USB cable, the phone is getting detected in the PC and I can browse the files as usual but it is not getting charged. Can you guys help me?
The charging port or the charging PCB has possibly gone kaput I suspect. In which case, SSC would be the only solution, I guess. Can someone with the prior experience be kind enough to tell, how much would it cost in India approximately and how long does it take for the repairs normally. Also should I prefer the local repair shops or the official SSC?
Thanks and Regards.
Cost of charging slot was 600-650 INR in local shop and 1100 INR in SSC when I inquired.
You should get it repaired from local shop. There is a simple belt which is required to be just replaced. It takes 5 mins if hardware is present in shop.
BTW nice and proper way to express problem. impressive. :good:
I already experience this problem.Service Center take 320 rupees and replace the charging slot.

from where can i get the USB flex cable replaced in Delhi? I went to the service center, but they are asking 1200 for it. i dont want to spend that much for a 2 year old phone! can anyone suggest a cheaper alternative?
I am not able to charge it while it is turned on. i have to switch it off and then charge it.
Also, it keeps on switching to driving mode automatically every now and then.

Using my phone this morning while on charge the usb connector suddenly got very hot. I pulled the USB cable out as quick as possible but it had already melted off the usb connector on the phone, the cable itself was glowing orange and on fire!
The phone still works but clearly I can't change it anymore. HTC support are offline now until the new year so don't know if under warranty or costs of a repair. I've seen the parts on ebay but don't have Torx screw driver (yet) to take about to see the damage clearly.
Does anyone know if you can buy official parts anywhere or just 3rd party replacements on ebay ?
Anyone repaired a usb connector that burnt out ? advice, tips welcome !
it shouldn't burn out! i would demand the repair/replacement even if the phone was out of warranty. are you rooted?

Totally agree, go to HTC and request for a replacement, but, were u using htc batteries/charger at that time. But either way there is a reason the warranty is only for 1-2 years, they dont expect the lifespan of phones to be that long and after that period they do expect malfunction(s).
There are some video that u can google out that shows u how to dismantle it.
Yup rooted via HTCDEV and was using an Xtrememac USB charge with Amazon Basics USB cable. The cable is ok looking bar the melted plastic from my phone now burnt on to it. The connector on the phone is about 50% missing so a couple of the connectors touched somehow ? It had been on charge all night, I picked it up, check for any messages and then it went !
Hello everyone,
I purchased a used Blaze a few weeks ago and i can not get it to charge passed 60% even after 1 whole day plugged into the wall and using different chargers. The phone was rooted and had custom mod with android 4.1.2. The battery graph seems to plateau every 5-10% then last night it went from 67% straight down to 45% not a gradual decline and it was plugged in. My question is should I even bother with a battery, reload stock rom, or replace usb port? Is it even worth it? I purchased the phone with intentions of putting it on straighttalk so i like the fact that i do not have a contract but then again i have to deal with hardware malfunction myself.
Thanks in advance!!!

I use to have this problem until I replaced my USB port.

Can I take the USB port from let's say an lg p509 and put it on my blaze?I don't see why it would be a problem

the usb port on the blaze is soldered to the board and would be extremely difficult to do unless you have good experience.
I am not sure if that would work, I think it is $40 for a professional to work on it.
Take into account, it may not be the usb but maybe the cable.

take into consideration that the port itself my not be bad, but the USB board itself, in which taking a board from another phone would not work.

I agree. always try for the cheaper option first USB cables are much cheaper
Apart from that, IF the problem was the USB port and not the board, and IF you had a micro soldering iron, and IF you had the soldering skills to remove the old port and re-solder the newer port without crossing circuits and frying your phone, it MIGHT work.
its better just to buy an OEM replacement USB board and swap them. It will save you more headache and have a higher chance of success.
I went to charge my phone today but all of a sudden I couldn't just plug it in and have it charge like I normally do. I have to pull my cord toward the front of my phone to get it to charge and I have to leave it like that. I thought it might be a bent connector since I have to force the contact points together, but I don't want to risk anything. I know its not the cord as I have tried 3 different ones and I have used both a computer and a AC adapter to attempt to charge it.
Can I buy a replacement charging port or could it be something else?
Thanks,

As our phones age, this can become a problem. A few months ago, same thing happened to my phone. I called T-Mobile and asked if the charging ports could be repaired. The bad news is that (according to T-Mobile), they can't be repaired economically. The good news is that they'll send you a replacement phone at no charge.
Mobiletechvideo fixed mine for $35.

Hm well that's unfortunate. I forgot to mention that I'm with wind. They charge for warranty repair after 1 year from original purchase date. I'm going to try to go to a warranty center to see how much it is.

Hi,
I'd like to know what you think of what happened to my Nexus 5 and Galaxy S Advance last week.
My car usb charger died and I bought a new one rated 2.1 Amps for 10 Eur. On the Nexus 5 fast charge was enabled, on the S Advance I had no such thing. I used several USB cables with this charger for several days as I was driving a lot.
Once back home I could not get any USB data transfer on both phones, of course I disabled fast charge on the Nexus, furthermore the S advance is now very difficult to charge switching all the time between charging/on battery.
I've tried 4 PC, 4 operating systems (XP, 7, 8, latest ubuntu) and 4 different cables, under linux lsusb shows me absolutely nothing even if both phones are in download mode so I'm afraid the USB ports on both phones are broken.
Do you have any idea on how this could have happened ?
P.S: I've tried all known tricks on both phones to get USB data transfer back with no luck.
Sounds like cheap charged ruined your phone. Perhaps send one on for a technician to assess. There's nothing we can help with if you've tried different cables and computers
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I don't know if USB file transfer will be possible but you can surely use a wireless charger to charge your nexus 5. Take your phones to the service centres. Sometimes if there's an electric shot at the port, it mightn't work. They might fix it if this is the case. If this isn't the case & if you've damaged the USB port, I'm afraid there's nothing you can do but change the entire motherboard to get it working.
Thanks, I'm aware that most probably my phones are broken, but I was wondering how a charger could do that ? Do you think it does not regulate to 5V but sends a weird voltage like 6.something ?

May be.. Poor quality chargers are bad at voltage regulation. You should have used a good quality charger for your costly phones. We learn from mistakes, but be careful the next time. I hope your problem will be resolved.
Well it was not the cheapest one, I was in a hurry, stopped at the nearest computer shop and took this one. Btw Google sends me a new phone so everything is OK, but if I were not 600km away from this shop I would go back there and have a men to men talk with the manager...
Hi
After about a week since I got the 2nd lollipop update on my Z3 this issue started to appear...
I put my phone on the charger (dock mostly, but direct usb has the same behaviour) and after 30 min it says it does not charge. I leave it overnight and the battery doesn't move much (1-2%), no mater if display is off or in dream mode - clock.
I use the original Sony accessories and I tried swapping with my Z tablet and it charges OK. The tablet's cable and charger doesn't work as well for my Z3.
Only way I'm currently able to charge it to full is to turn it off completely while charging. Strange is it seems to hold ok if charged to max - 8h screen time or so.
Tried factory Reset from the options but I think ita the same... For 5h it charged 5-10% or so
Device is not tempered in any way - no root, Rom change etc.
Device is from end of December.
Tell me what more I can legally try before resorting to customer service? Can this even be a HW issue?

Try repairing it with sony pc companion if that doesn't work try flashing another ftf file through flash tool. Download the ftf file from" xperi firm" it lying somewhere in xda
Unfortunately it seems the PC repair you suggested wont help me. After 30min of charging with the dock it complained its not charging
Tried to charge with compact battery, 2A iPad charger and all seem insufficient - Ampere shows under +200mA with no accounts and lowest display setting...
I guess I'm off to the repair shop...
Guess the 2nd thing you suggested was reflashing the device? Dont want to risk guarantee as I probably, already need it.

By this you mean I must make back up of my original fw and return to it before getting the z3 for service?

As long as your bootloader is locked, SONY won' t ask any questions.
And you must flash a ftf coresponding to your firmware.
Well i tried several tft

D6603_23.0.A.2.98_Customized_20UK
D6603_23.0.A.2.93_Generic_20GLOBAL
All charge slow...
I even saw the estimation in lockscreen - 30% batt, will be full in 17 hours
Guess I'm off to service tomorrow Hope its still waterproof when they return it >_>

facing same strange issues. at first thought it was wall charger problem, then i used the usb cable and charged the phone with my dock and charges pretty fast. Then tried with another wall charger with same usb cable and no charging.
Same usb cable with dock, charges well, same usb cable via laptop, no detection at all.....
Someone else faced same issues ??
My charging with usb or magnetic dock is the same.
Maybe your micro usb port has issues?

I don't think so as tested with other wall charger and no issues, but when back with original wall charger and usb cable same problem

So I got my Z3 back YAY
Cant belive I made it so long w/o mobile net...
They didnt say what was wrong, but they replaced:
Motherboard
A part....
Battery
Charger
USB cable
Strangely first two days I was able to charge it ONLY with the supplied cable and 1.5a charger. With the original Sony cable (tablet Z and Z3 looked, and are labled the same) or using few different PCs was futile...
The new cable has somewhat bigger connectors and is labled 14w5, so I gueas its a 3A cable (5v*2.9a).
Thankfully today I managed to emergency charge from crappy old pc (xp) with a few cents 3m long cable... Just for 3h from 8% battery ? .
Only crappy thing is the service was in the gypsy land of Greece so there are 2 scratches around the Sony logo on the front. Thankfully none at the camera lenses or the actual display.
They refused to fix it and gave me instead a plastic original Sony protectors for front and back.
