Whats needed?
I tested HBoot versions 2.19 & 2.21!
Unlocked Bootloader over HTCdev
A rooted stock ROM & Kernel (Its important without it will not work!) JmzM4StockRootedOdex-WWE-1.22.401.1 & Jmz M4 Kernel
some knowledge how to use ADB and Fastboot
cmd-tool, every windows computer should have it
i could happen that it not work on the first time, just do it over again from beginning and it will work (i had that problem)
it does not looks very user-friendly (no GUI)
it will not brick your devices (BUT its possible because its a hack)
the possibility to get S-Off without problems is DAMN high
Download:
download Android SDK for ADB.
Download revone: http://revolutionary.io/revone
Guide:
You can use any OS for that guide, you just need an cmd-tool.
Download revone (above) and copy it to your adb folder, while Android is running.[/B]):
open cmd and use following commands:
Code:
adb push revone /data/local/tmp/
now use these commands:
Code:
adb shell
Code:
cd /data/local/tmp
Code:
chmod 755 revone
Prepare S-Off:
Code:
./revone -P
revone will give you an error now: "error message -2"
NOW Restart your device but leave USB debugging turned on and use following commands:
Code:
adb shell
Code:
cd /data/local/tmp
Code:
./revone -s 0 -u
revone should tell you that everything went fine and i got S-Off.
Here just some other commands for revone:
-u --> Unlock Bootloader
-l --> Lock Bootloader (It will not simply lock it, it will lock it like it was never unlocked)
-r --> Relock Bootloader (mark the device as unlocked)
-t --> "Tampered" will be removed from bootloader
!!!IMPORTANT! YOU NEED FULLY STOCK ROM, STOCK RECOVERY AND STOCK BOOT BEFORE YOU CAN USE THIS!!! fastboot oem writesecureflag 3 --> restore S-ON
If revone say OK then reboot your device into bootloader and check if you got S-Off[/code]
You should see S-Off Now.
Optional: Run revone (via CMD) and remove that tampered flag:
Code:
adb shell
Code:
cd /data/local/tmp
Code:
./revone -t

Super CID :
Guide:
Boot into bootloader and connect via fastboot USB to your PC
open CMD to use (in my case) cd /Android/ (if your adb folder is on C:/Android/)
use following command
Code:
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
--> Its 8 times the 1!
now lets check it twice:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Or:
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Code:
fastboot oem readcid
--> You should see CID 11111111 now.
Now your device is S-Off!
Now lets install a custom recovery and a stock ROM to get the OTA.
Install TWRP Recovery:

You can google for an Stock 4.2.2 - 1.22.401.1 Odexed Nandroid Backup
Click to collapse
Copy this nandroid backup into the TWRP backup folder.
Important (It should looks like /TWRP/BACKUP/SHA********** [Ur device ID]/Stock 4.2.2 - 1.22.401.1 Odexed/backup files)
Now reboot your device into recovery again and restore it with the backup we copied.
After it sucessfully restore your device boot it up
(Maybe TWRP will ask you to restore root, answer with NO!)
Wait until device booted and connect to WIFI.
Goto settings -> info -> Software-Updates and let him check for an OTA
If you have SuperCID you should get an OTA notification.
Download it but NOT install it.
Connect your phone to your PC and copy the OTA
(sdcard/downloads/) to your PC.
Reboot your device into Bootloader and open CMD
[Make sure you have WinRAR installed, its the only one wich worked for me]
Open the OTA file with winrar, inside it there is a firmware.zip file.
extract it somewhere or if you are lazy like me download it here
https://mega.co.nz/#!R4oEXRTR!BZgxVA4fi5QajU699fkF5QFARUdUCdS4Rl-Y3M_iVL8

open CMD to use (in my case) cd /Android/ (if your adb folder is on C:/Android/)
now use
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Code:
fastboot erase cache
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
now reboot your device into android.
Let it check for OTAs and if it show you that an OTAs was downloaded and waiting for install....
Install it!
Your device should reboot into Stock recovery and install the OTA.
It takes 5 - 10 mins after it the device reboots into a fresh & clean Android 4.3.
NEW 24.02.2014
After installed to 4.3 just look for a new Update.
You will get a notification that a new update is ready to download.
After downloading Android 4.4.2 just install it and... your done!
You can do now a factory reset to set the device up from beginning
If you want to root your device just download this file and install it via recovery:

flash it from running android and simply reboot

He's uploading. You can see the status on the original post, in a grey case "uploading"
Thanks a lot for this. One question though: I have already got S-OFF with rumrunner. Can I get S-OFF "again" with ReVone, so I can later return to S-ON if I need to return my phone for warranty repair?

Its still uploading. And Iam still at work. To do s-off u need the rooted Rom and custom kernel, I tried it without and it's not working but if u have fully stock make a system dump to be safe. If u have s-off it doesn't matter if the boot loader is unlocked or locked. U just need it later if you have to sent it back to HTC. I will keep you guys updated with the upload. I will also upload a system dump of my currect 4.3 system. But u all need s-off.

was this for me? If so Yes I did and was able to get the tampered message away, what I would like to do ideal is load 4.2.2 stock back on it and then relock the bootloader so that I can return it to HTC without them lifting an eyebrow. The battery started to swell, and pushing out the back and now the screen is starting to bleed red. So I want to put it back to stock and return it, I don't want them to void the warranty because of software due to a major hardware malfunction. If you want to see photos check out my thread here

I was able to do the S-OFF with the Magio R4 rom though... should I still switch over to the other Rom? Maybe make sure that installing Specific ROM and Kernal is step one if that is the case.

I cant use revolution as my version is too high and needs to be downgraded can someone help me plz with the files or destination of them thanks.
Re. Downgrade....
Hallo...I am attaching zip with the files i`ve downloaded someday long ago,
,there is also file without extension which you can open wirh any text editor-
- it is description i`ve got from the original thread about the downgrading procedure..
I hope this is all you need to proceed to tthe fruitful end...
Good luck
And one more thing, those files were ment for versions lower than ics
so if you are running ics, they might be useless...No harm in trying though
Edit. I do not have the ruu but there is a beautifull thread in development section:
INDEX of ROMS/RECOVERY/ROOT/GUIDES/HBOOT/RADIOS/TWEAKS etc
you can find many answers there ...

are you rooted- if so then after adb shell you shall press enter
,and if you see a $ sign, type su
then in your device superuser app will ask you for superuser rights for the shell-
you grant it there
then in the terminal the sign should change to #
then you are ready for chmod 777[space]/data/local/....
Edit:
after you`l have succeded this procedure to the very end and have rebooted the device succesfuly!!
to flash ruu you need to relock your bootloader( you know this)
fastboot oem lock
I you are stuck along the way then write again- better be safe than sorry

no im not rooted need to downgrade first don't I, seriously doing this is so hard so many different things to try it is confusing.
but you are unlocked aren`t you- by htc dev?
if this is so now it is time to get the recovery for saga,
flash it from fastboot fastboot flash recovery recovery.img...
then you ought to get superuser zip for saga and flash it from your newly installed recovery
and then your live with downgrading will be much easier
Edit: in the attachment yoou have
1. recovery.img flash from fastboot,,, fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
2. superuser.zip flash from recovery
any doubts? write...

Re. Downgrade....
hoooo... pull the horses... when i read my post, it looks bit chaotic,
let us organise it ....
first:
you said before that you are unlocked- if that is true then either by htc dev or your device is natively
opened by manufacturer..either way you can flash recovery and root your phone.
Second:
if the first line in your bootloader(phone off then symultanously pressing power and volume down)
states >> locked<< then your phone is in an untouched state- stock
Third:
if your device is stock, and unrooted, without custom recovery
then the files from the downgrade zip are needed,
- zerg rush which is an exploit that lets us get temporary root for the shell,
and it is gone after you reboot the phone.
- misc_version that lets us change-or fool the phone about the software version that we have on board
Now, there is much more to it but.... see first what you can do with what you know already

I am not in your skin so it is realy difficult for me to advise you
either way but:
you can try again htc dev (or wait for email from them-check if you`ve followed their procedure to the letter)
procedure that is easier for all of us with less expearience
you can try to downgrade and s-off with another procedure- which is more difficult but works for many people,
have to decide yourself
I am s-on again- with an unlocked bootloader, because i am comfortable with it- not need s-off for now really,
but can speak only for myself

3. try if the root remains after reboot- if not- then flash su (you`ll find in the second attachment) from recovery

hey mate good so far just need to install the engineers hboot do you have it
I foolishly did the OTA update yesterday and finally got it installed right, just to see what it is and has. Since then seems when I use ADB I get an error: device not found. That is , untill I unplug and replug the phone in a few times , then a splash screen pops up about HTC sync , then I can get ADB to find the phone and continue, (it might be the wrong thing to do but I like adb to reboot to bootloader and recovery rather than holding the buttons down). After the OTA I see that it is now HBOOT 2.14, is this good or bad ? Another question with the string of RADIO-0.24p. 32.09.06 , how do I know what radio this is ? Remember this is another dumb A** noobie asking.
I do have S-OFF and unlocked, "tampered" removed, custom boot img. splash.

I can't find a post on downgradeing firmware. Plus I don't really know what that would do to downgrade. My main concern after updateing with the OTA, when I use adb it most of the time looses the device and I get an error :device not found. For instance, if I want to go to bootloader, I do the commands :adb reboot bootloader, it goes but if I try to reboot with adb it then looses the device and I usually get the error :device not found.
Could it be my PC and adb installed ? do I need to reinstall adb ? or is it something with the new update that might cause adb not to work? I was not having any troubles with adb loosing the device prior to the OTA, so makes me ask questions.
]You should downgrade the touchscreen firmware which is an easy process , now that you came up with this suggestion I am curious again.

[How-To] Downgrade your Touch Panel's firmware (and upgrade back) it is even a Sticky.
you need to downgrade touchscreen firmware so you can use aosp or sense ics roms if you do not you are stuck with sense jb roms. it is pretty important actually.
in bootloader you use fastboot not adb unless you are in adb sideload depending on your version of twrp.

Hi,
is that you get the update notification?
For me (i did'nt have the notification), I did it: being in stock 4.2.1 ROM, s-off, recovery custom, and root, so I changed cid with the fastboot command: fastboot oem writecid HTC__032 (HTC__032 = East Europe, me I had a French HTC__203 cid). Then reflash version 4.1.2 of stock recovery, reboot the phone, check the update, and normally you could do it!
For finalize, back in the bootloader to restore your original cid and reflash a custom recovery if you want !
Good luck!
Well i got the update notification but i cant update to 4.2 because i dont know how to restore the stock recovery. if its any help im running 4.1.2 and im on cricket which is the PLCCL variant

Download the OTA.zip, you'll find it in download folder.
Copy it to your PC. Inside the OTA.zip you'll find a firmware.zip, unzip this on your PC.
Then open the firmware.zip and you will find a recovery.img inside. Unzip this recovery.img.
Now put the recovery.img into your fastboot folder (in your PC) and flash it with the cmd:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
If all went well, flash back cwm recovery, make a backup and upload it for us

So i flashed the stock recovery for 4.1 and i attempted to flash the 4.2 update and it says
Device_CW_Install: No CW files. Skip cw installation.
(going to skip writing out what all the update stuff said and ill just show you what it sayed at the end when it failed)
Removing unneeded files...
Patching /system or /data files...
Symlinks and permissions...
set_perm: some changes failed
Installation aborted.
Are you sure, that your system is totally stock (odexed, no apps or something else removed)?

if you're cricket than do this
first thing you need to do is flash a working clockworkmod recovery
then download this rar file and extract it somewhere and place it in your CWM restore directory
https://db.tt/C59wTTqK
once it's restored
place this file on the root of your sdcard and reboot into your bootloader,
it will search and find it just follow the directions on your screen to apply it. then reboot into your OS and except all further updates

profit!
OK so I've been researching for days how to unlock boot loader, root and s-off my HTC one mini. I bought the phone in november so im assuming that i updated to 4.3 or it was already installed (relevant later). I htcdev unlocked my boot loader, installed twrp and made a backup, installed superuser and rooted my phone. Then I installed titanium backup pro, made a backup and uninstalled all the system apps/bloatware I didn't need. All was peachy but the apps kept reappearing which I found was down to s-on (despite what I read about htcdev unlock boot loader method making my phone s-off) . So I tried the revone method and got error 1 which apparently is down to having android 4.3 so I looked for an earlier ROM and flashed Magio r1 which worked fine but couldn't find the data/local/temp folder to install revone into. Probably could of put it somewhere else but I wasn't that confident with the s-off process. So I finally found Jmz m4 stock ROM so there was light at end of tunnel. So I read up on twrp factory reset/format data functions and saw people were using both methods. I went with the full format and factory reset afterwards. Looking back now that was pretty stupid as I have no ROM and no backups to restore to. I did manage to chmod 777 the permissions on my twrp backups and copy the to dropbox (after endless scouring of forums). I also know how to flash boot images and use the adb side load functions. So that's my story.
Problem is I can't adb push the file as it returns with error closed, I've tried the following commands:
adb device - my device is attached and side loading.
adb usb - returns error closed
adb kill-server
adb start server - server starts successfully then returns error closed.
adp push rom.zip /data/media/0 - returns error closed
And just to be sure I tried with /data/media/, same error
I've fastboot flashed the jmzM4 ROM image and kernel but no joy as I'm guessing the boot image isn't enough and you need the zip.
If anyone can help out that would be greatly appreciated.
Currently I can load into boot loader and recovery no problem, just freezes on HTC load screen in normal boot up.

Hi!
A couple of things to help you get this sorted:
You can't ADB from HBOOT/Bootloader, if you have TWRP boot to recovery then you can adb push - I'd recommend this over trying to sideload (sideload instantly flashes the zip)
You won't be able to boot if you are UNLOCKED and have S-OFF - You can either use the terminal emulator in recovery or adb shell to use revone.
adb push your rom zip and UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.86 zip to /sdcard/ if this returns an error, push to /data/local/ (you can install zip from here in recovery)
Once done, install the rom, install supersu.
Most likely revone will be missing, so do this:
adb push revone /data/local/
adb shell
cd /data/local/
chmod 755 revone
./revone -l
Reboot to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik
Reboot
REBOOT TO BOOTLOADER
Choose FASTBOOT
fastboot flash boot boot.img (boot.img extracted from the rom zip)
Reboot to recovery
Reboot system
* revone download:
download revone from http://revolutionary.io/revone
remove .bin extention
****** REMEMBER to
Thanks, i will try the instructions you've posted. i am unlocked and s-off.
Adb push worked, however Install of rom failed...as you said i will prob have to download revone and take it from there .

Coming from MagioR5 to his Stock sense 4.3(deox) and used SUPERWIPE hoping for a clean install.
so pushing rom via Adb worked but failed to install the rom, said it was unable to open zip file..
I then full wiped and tried pushing the rom (and supersu update zip) via ADB to /LOCAL/DATA/.....this worked and said zip flash was successful however, couldn't find the MD5...??? (weird)
The phone has now rebooted with sense 5.5 android 4.3 and all seems ok...so far!!!
rebooted to bootloader and phone still s-off and rooted...All seems fine and in working order.
slightly concerned about the md5 as i thought this should have some implications
but so far so good.
thanks to nelvinchi for his support and magio for his custom roms....cheers guys

Hi Guys,
i have bought as second hand used an htc one mini. I live in Italy, so no Us.
The device report the following info, made by the previous owner:
TAMPERED
RELOCKED
M4_UL PVT S-OFF RL
CID-VODAP102
HBOOT-2.19.0000
RADIO 1.20.40d.00.05
It has TWRP recovery and Android 4.2.2.
I would like to restock it, deleting "tampered" and "relocked"
anybody that can help me please? thank you in advance

Hey gents, I have soft bricked my HTC One Mini while rooting it according to [HOW-TO][SUPER-GUIDE] Keeping Your One Mini Up To Date!!
let's start at the beginning
1. I unlocked the bootloader with HTCdev successfully, everything was looking good.
2. I tried to obtain S-OFF status, following the guides given in the thread
- None of the methods worked, but the wording of the guide says that S-OFF is not absolutely essential. I got various methods which suggested that obtaining S-OFF shouldn't actually be step 2 in this guide. At the time of trying to S-OFF, I did not have an unsecure kernel
3. I installed a stock, rooted, Odexed ROM called JMZ-M4 v.1.22.401.1 and the corresponding JMZ M4 kernel via TWRP recovery standard flashing methods.
- Tried to S-OFF again, got a "success" message but nothing happened, multiple times.
4. After playing around with this temporary test ROM, I decided to go ahead and install InsertCoin. The description of insert coin says the requirements are:
Code:
#include
/*
* Unlocked Phone @ HTCDEV or S-OFF
* Custom Recovery
* Common Sense, Brains and logic
*/
Seeing as I unlocked my bootloader @ HTCdev, I thought I wouldn't need the S-OFF, and continued.
- The ROM hung before bootloop (no animated part, just HTC logo) so I reset it (hold down power) and booted into bootloader and then recovery, wiped everything, went to flash it all again (I'm a veteran of the HTC Hero so know a bit about dalvik errors and assumed it was just a wipe problem) and there were no files.
-This made sense since I'd just wiped it, but now I don't have any USB access to my phone.
5. I can access adb in recovery and fastboot in fastboot USB, but other than that I have no sort of communication with my phone. In recovery, I can't browse any files. According to CWM, the /sdcard folder is unmountable, and in TWRP there is no adb connection whatsoever.
6. Using ADB Sideload, I managed to flash the PacMan ROM, but when booted up, neither the phone nor the computer detect any connection (no adb, no mass storage - MTP or MSC).
- adb Sideload refuses to load any Sense ROMs - I get a no status error, and I assume it's because the files are too big and cause a timeout.
7. Things could be worse, so I decide to move on and install GApps but still don't have a Play Store app.
8. I found a "fix" for the USB connection problem but it doesn't work:
Code:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
fastboot oem eraseconfig
9. Another USB fix was to revert to stock recovery > clear storage > factory reset > CWM recovery > flash ROM
Obviously, this doesn't work either.
10. Cannot get anywhere setting up S-OFF anymore, adb shell will not let me cd into /data/local/tmp, however it still lets me push files to that directory (curious?)
Just so I can recap:
S-ON HTC One Mini, no USB connection, and only runs stock Android ROMs, otherwise results in a brick.
Cannot achieve S-OFF with any method, each method results in an error or says "success" but doesn't actually work.
TWRP does not allow adb in any way, but allows me to browse files on the phone (could install from zip if I could put one there)
Code:
C:\Android>adb devices
List of devices attached
CWM allows adb and adb sideload, but does not allow me to browse files on the phone (so no installing from zip on sdcard). adb pushing large files results in a recovery crash (so can't push ROMs that I could install through TWRP)
Code:
C:\Android>adb devices
List of devices attached
HT41MWA01962 recovery
Booting into PacMan lets me use the phone, but does not have Play Store nor any connection with the computer through USB. Every other feature seems to work.
Phone BOOTLOADER info:
Code:
M4_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.21.0000
RADIO-1.23.40E.00.26
OpenDSP-v19.2.0268.0927
OS-2.12.61.3
eMMC-boot 1024MB
Dec 3 2013,23:49:27.0
And serial number:
Code:
HT41MWA01962
At this point, I really don't care about roots, upgrades, firmware or anything. I just want to be able to use my phone like before I did any of this stupid stuff. I have a working knowledge of adb and fastboot so didn't anticipate any of these faults (I assumed 5 years of modding an HTC Hero would prepare me for this, but I was wrong).
Would it be too much to ask for someone more knowledgeable than myself to give me a hand?
Thanks, there's a $10 donation in it for anyone who can get my phone back to stock again or (even better) set up S-OFF and allow me to root properly as you learned folk do.
yeah sideload flashes instantly, I'm not keen on it!
try this ADB PUSH Rom & Gapps (not Insertcoin) to /data/local/ then install from that location in recovery.this should give you a working phone in the meantime
**edit** sorry just re-read your post, you cant push large files!
Go to your bootloader and relock your phone by using fastboot OEM relock. Then unlock again. Now flash stock recovery. You can Now use rumrunner or revone to get s-off. After that flash the firmware from InsertCoin. Flash the InsertCoin rom and You are on your wat.

Is there any way to find out which stock recovery I want? there are 3 versions, 2 with x.401.x and 1 with x.206.x, which should I use?
Also, I know that I won't be able to use either rumrunner or revone until I get USB support back, which isn't happening

sorry if I misunderstand, but how do I use adb with the stock recovery? I don't have any USB access at all when I'm running an OS, and only have adb in CWM recovery.
EDIT: I got reasonably far using the method outlined on this XDA page, under the heading "ROM update without SDcard" and using Philz recovery. This only seems to work in Philz Recovery, other recoveries cannot mount /data for some reason?
EDIT 2: GOT THE BADGER! I fixed my own problem, it only took 26 hours... I'll write a guide to help anyone with a similar problem but for now, I'm going to bed.
You first must flash stock recovery trough fastboot......Then You will be able to use adb-sideload trough twrp.

The S-OFF part doesn't work because I don't (didn't) have USB when the device was powered up, nor could I mount /data/local/tmp or any other folder. Managed a fix with a modded CWM recovery and a sneaky sdcard emulator trick. Thanks for all your help anyway!
